A Little Embarrasing...implant - What Size?
O.T.R. sleever replied to BlueOctoberGirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
As a guy I'll tell you it's all about shape. Size is nice but comes in a distant 2nd place. I'd much rather play with some nice firm C cups than less than perky DD. -
Tired Of Protein & Not Ready For Mushy Foods
O.T.R. sleever replied to sleevediva's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Isn't it strange how food has become a burden? What worked for me is planning out my daily food in advance. Since you really don't have cravings anymore set a timer and eat whatever is planned when it goes off. -
If I Can Just Help One Person, It Will All Be Worth It!
O.T.R. sleever replied to exfatboy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
XFB, your story is very inspiring. I'd like to encourage you to hang around & keep telling your story, you will help way more than 1 person. This new life just has to be shared. This reminds me of an old saying "misery shared is misery halved, joy shared is joy doubled" Let's see how many times we can double the joy. -
Why So Hard Getting Water/protein?
O.T.R. sleever replied to HeyMo35's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is due to the swelling of the stomach. The sleeve when completely healed is 8+-oz. After surgery the 8oz is for the most part filled with swollen stomach tissue. It could swell to the point that in the first couple days there may no capacity. The good news is that the excessive swelling goes down pretty quickly, however full capacity won't be reache for 6-12months. -
Aaaack! My Motivation Has Stalled! Someone Tell Me I Can Do This!
O.T.R. sleever replied to Dooter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't make me have to book a load there and light a fire under your butt. You are not giving up. Do you have your goals written down? How long ago did you sit down and rewrite your goals? Let's do it again. Focused intensity is the thing that's gonna get you where you want to be. The enemy of great is good. You have been doing so well. If you had slipped badly it would be easy to get focused again, but because you've been doing so well, it's easy to lose intensity. Another thing you might consider is a couple day break with a plan on renewed focus starting on the 3rd day. Just like when you work hard at work, you might need a small vacation. -
Carbonated Beverages Stretch The Sleeve?
O.T.R. sleever replied to Futureskinnyperson's topic in Food and Nutrition
My rational tells me no, sodas won't stretch your sleeve. Sodas are considered by many surgeons to be ok if they are allowed to go flat first. This tells me that all the acids & poisons in the soda isn't a major concern. So the problem is the carbonation itself. Carbonation is nothing but carbon dioxide. Since your body produces carbon dioxide and there is carbon dioxide in you're blood at all times I don't see how it can cause a reaction in your stomach tissue that wouldn't already be happening anyhow. All that being said, why would you want to put those poisons into your body? -
Karate sounds great. What dicipline are you taking? I think I'd hold off on sparring for a few more weeks.

Your body will naturally crave the things it feels it needs. Seafood being soft easily digest able proteins make an ideal source for both protein and omega3 fatty acids. Fish is great for you.

How Often Should I Weigh?
O.T.R. sleever replied to weezer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weekly is fine. You can weigh daily if you want to drive yourself crazy though. -
I question the usefulness of this product. It is supposed to help with thinning hair, but our hair loss is not due to natural thinning such as age, or genetics. It is either a side effect from the anesthesia or from malnutrition. I personally believe its malnutrition. Plus, if a person does take biotin or not doesn't seem to eliminate hair loss. And people who don't take do regrow what they've lost. I really think that taking biotin after surgery is effectively a placebo. If you believe it will work then you will convince yourself that you have results.

Excessive Acid
O.T.R. sleever replied to rybecca20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your prescribed PPI will not give immediate relief to excess acid. What it does is slow the production of further acid. What you need now is something like tums, pepto, etc. just keep in mind tgat you don't want to get into the habit of taking tums too often as one of its side effects is that it stimulates acid production. -
Hi Stephanie, Are you having the gastiric sleeve(vsg) or a plication procedure done? Welcome.

Had Pasta Today
O.T.R. sleever replied to Jenny881's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This goes back to the debate of "acceptable" vs "ideal". Pasta, rice, potatoes, & breads are are all "acceptable" in small quantities. However, they have little to no nutritional content and are of no benefit to your body. They are also high starch foods that are almost immediately converted to sugar by the body. Furthermore these high starch foods are self perpetuating, they trigger cravings for more starches. So the more you eat them the more you'll want them. Are they going to harm you? No, not if kept in very small quantities. Keep in mind these do tend to swell in your stomach so I really do mean very small quantities. Are they going to slow your weight loss & keep you from reaching your goals as quickly as possible? Absoloutly. -

Protein Shakes Help Please
O.T.R. sleever replied to Carol Watts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isopure is a very high quality Protein. If you like the tase of it then great. I personally can't stand the way my mouth feels after drinking it. The reason it says not to use for weight reduction is because it has no Vitamin or mineral content. Many people will mistake it for a Meal Replacement shake. Although for our purposes we really don't want meal replacement shakes. -
I'm betting you are typically an introverted personality. Becoming an extrovert is something you have to work at. The fear of rejection will get smaller over time if you make it so. Have you ever heard the expression "fake it till you make it"? That is exactly what it's gonna take. You pretty much have to force an outgoing personality for a while, then it will become natural. And the more outgoing you are the more opportunities you have for that positive reinforcement that will make you more confident.
