International Calling
O.T.R. sleever replied to CarolinaGurl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I grew up in El Paso. Spent tons of time in Juarez. Turn off your international roaming & you will pick up US towers still. -
Just edit the post.

Not really much you need for an indoor (artificial) wall. They will have all the equipment. Just dress very comfortably, shorts & T-shirt are great. The one thing I do recommend is a pair of climbing boots. If this is going to be a one & done a pair of hard soled hiking boots are ok, even better if they have a steel shank in the sole. A pair of fingerless gloves are nice too, but honestly the artificial surfaces aren't that rough.

Just hang out people will be around. We see people considering revision almost daily.

The real answer is muscle mass. We have a lot more muscle hence we naturally burn more calories.

Science Behind High Protein Diets
O.T.R. sleever replied to thehappycat's topic in Food and Nutrition
Your body consumes both sugars(fat) and amino acids(protein) continually. If you're body is not receiving enough of either it will start to cannibalize itself to get them. We want our bodies to do this for it's sugars. However the only place it can get amino acids if we are not consuming them is from our muscle. Since the more muscle we have the higher our metabolism is we really do not want our bodies breaking down our muscle to get the amino acids it needs. Is this what you were looking for? -
How Slow Can I Go?
O.T.R. sleever replied to seelessofme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 5'4" 145lbs = 24.9BMI = "normal" This means you started with 79lbs of excess body weight. You've lost 25lbs. This means you have already lost over 30% of your excess body weight. -

How Slow Can I Go?
O.T.R. sleever replied to seelessofme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you are going to be a slow loser. You were only 224 when you started. How tall are you? Remember those who have less to lose will lose slower. -
Put a piece of tape on the container and write on the tape.

4 Months Out...
O.T.R. sleever replied to courtney333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Almost 2 weeks, another way of saying less than 2 weeks. Most people don't even consider it a stall unless it goes over 2 weeks. Just keep following your diet & exercising. It will break The best advice I can give you is to put your scale away. Don't weigh anymore than once a week. -
Should I Do It ?
O.T.R. sleever replied to chicha2012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Complications are definitely something to consider. They are rare, but as Iggy has stated before when you happen to become part of that 0.25% statistics cease to matter. Take some time and look around. The vast majority of us have had great experiences. In my opinion, if you have other health problems that your weight contributes to or if your weight causes you difficulty in life then I would encourage you to keep investigating. If its mostly cosmetic, then I would be much less inclined to recommend surgery. -

Garbage foods are very cheap. This you can eat alot on a smaller budget. Are you portioning your food now or do you find yourself throwing out a lot? Example: individualy wrapped tilapia fillets. I can only eat about 1/2 of one. So to prepare a full fillet would essentially double my food cost since I really don't often eat leftovers. Another thing to consider, have you stopped keeping garbage food in your house? Does this mean your whole family is eating higher quality more nutritious (more expensive) foods? If this is the case then your families health is worth the investment.

Am I Loosing Fast Enough? (Got The Sleeve At 154#)
O.T.R. sleever replied to vssupermodel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too late. The lapband had gained a lot of popularity in the modeling community. The only negative (in their minds) was trying to conceal the port on their very low BMI bodies. The sleeve has taken its place and is commonly performed on models & aspiring models. Typically done in Thailand. -

Hey Guys I Have A Big ?
O.T.R. sleever replied to tabbymonroe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nope, it really doesn't have much of a flavor at all. A very slight sweetness. However it does not dissolve, which is why I mix it with mango. It suspends well in the thicker mango purée. My favorite recipe right now is 6oz Mighty Mango by Naked 6oz high ph water(any Water will work) 30g Hemp protein 50% 2tbsp chia seed 1tbsp ground flax 1tsp KyoGreen(this is optional) shake in a Blender Bottle and allow to sit in refrigerator for 30min before drinking. Tastes good, gives about 18-19g protein, and helps potty issues. -

How Long Did It?
O.T.R. sleever replied to BJGOODY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. I spent 2 nights in the hospital. Some surgeons perform VSG as an outpatient surgery. I personally am not comfortable with the outpatient route. 2. I was fine as soon as I was released with the limitation of not lifting anything over 15lbs for 6weeks. 3. The staple line & incisions are considered healed at about 6-8weeks. 4. I have had back pain for years. Couldn't walk more than 50yd without pain. 4hrs after surgery I was walking painlessly(might've been the I.V. drugs) the pain hasn't returned, and I've taken no pain meds after leaving the hospital. Edit: when I say incisions healed in 6-8weeks I'm referring to where they cut through the muscle. As stated in the post below the skin will heal much faster. -
Kidney Pain With Protein Shakes?
O.T.R. sleever replied to joe_cltnc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds to me like you have some kidney stones. High Protein, high Calcium, & high sugar diets are known to cause kidney stones. We are all pretty much fit squarely into these categories. Sugar & calcium before surgery, protein & calcium after. There are many natural treatments out there for this from apple cider vinegar, to olive oil & lemon juice. Or your doctor can laser them to break them up and make them passable(OUCH!)
