Sleeve Surgery In The Begining Of The Next Month!
O.T.R. sleever replied to Tina87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your fear is very healthy, if you didn't have any reservations about being cut into & having the vast majority of your stomach removed I would be concerned. All I can say is in hindsight(I'm 6months post op) this is definitely one of the best things I have done for myself. I only wish I had done it sooner. -

Am I An Anomaly?
O.T.R. sleever replied to CJ's mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
An anomaly? Absoloutly not. You are completely normal. I felt Absoloutly no restriction on liquids, and minimal on soft foods. But once I got to dense Proteins it was like "OMG, that's all I can eat?". You are gonna be fine. Just keep an eye on your portions. Btw. The constant hunger you are feeling now is referred to as head hunger. I know you are saying " no it's not. I'm really hungry. " but trust me. With a bit of self dicipline in a couple weeks you look back and see that it is your mind holding on to old habits. It remembers how often & how much you use to eat. Once it understands that it is gonna get nourished it will stop sending all those false signals. I was right there with you. After surgery I would have choked a rhino with my bare hands for a Five Guys burger at any given moment. Now they're opening one in my dinky little town & TBH, though I'm happy it will be there if and when I want one, I have no real desire for it anymore. Here is a link to my first post on this forum. You can see I felt the same way. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/40235-is-this-too-easy/ -

I gotta ask, since I've missed a few weeks here. How are you feeling about your sleeve now? Has the frustration subsided? -
The Good The Bad And The Ugly...and Pics :)
O.T.R. sleever replied to FromFlabToFab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
FFTF, Thanks for posting. I can say you're looking great. Don't worry about your insecurities. I see nothing wrong with your nose. Mine is a bit on the large size IMO. But I'm the only one that seems to notice. We are our own worse critics. As for dating, never let anything step in the way of your potential for love. Just be up front. I'm not saying you have to divulge everything, but before anything gets too serious let your potential mate know that if he/she is a chubby chaser that it is time to move on because there is no way in hell you are going to fit into that category going forward. Keep up the great work. You are doing great!! PS. Don't sweat the skin thing. It will continue to shrink for 2 years. It may not ever catch up 100% , but then again it might. Either way it'll get way better than you see today. -

A Little Embarrasing...implant - What Size?
O.T.R. sleever replied to BlueOctoberGirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Gummie is a reference to the material the implant is constructed out of. Breast implants started out as silicon which were a great material for the look & feel of tge breast, however caused considerable health problems when they ruptured. Then saline was introduced as an option, it was the preferred material for many years as it posed no risk if a leak developed however the recipient almost always "looked" like she had implants because as she would move around the implant would dramatically change shape. Furthermore saline didn't "feel" real as it had the feel of a bag of Water as opposed to the fat tissue the natural breast is made of. Enter the Gummie. Innovated approximately 10 years ago & quickly gained popularity among premier surgeons(these are a bit more expensive) the Gummie is once again a silicon implant, the major change is that instead of being a silicon gel in a "bag" the Gummie is a cohisive unit it is very soft and pliable but is a molded unit that cannot leak. Unfortunately for very small breasted women the Gummie is not an option as a first surgery, because of its semi-solid form it all but requires some excess skin for insertion. Which makes it an ideal option for those who have the extra skin and are looking to restore some shape.(and can afford it). In the last 2years or so another great innovation has come about. The Teardrop Gummie is an implant that utilizes the Gummie material and fashions the implant into a teardrop shape giving a much more natural apperance. IMO the Teardrop Gummie is undetectable in both feel & appearance to a natural breast when properly placed. After writing this I think I need to talk to the manufacturer about a commissioned sales position. Here is a video demonstrating the cohesiveness of the material in the Gummie implant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRsW2rZcaMk&feature=youtube_gdata_player -
How Long Til You Got To 600-800 Calories/day?
O.T.R. sleever replied to cmf1267's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nectar Proteins deliver 20g+ protein in 100cal, thats 80g in 400 calories, lso Premier Protein delivers 30g in 160cal that's 90g in 480 calories. I will say its nearly impossible on anything but a liquid diet. -
Shout Out To All The Veterans...*carbs Or Calories*
O.T.R. sleever replied to Kristi64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To be honest I have no idea what the carb count is on the Greek yogurt. I know the container was 2servings @ 180cal/serving for a total of 360 calories & 46g protein(which is too much Protein in one sitting) but it was done on a day that my total calorie count was under 600. It was done intentionally because I had been preoccupied all day working on my truck, and other tasks & I wanted the extra calories. The brand was chobani. -
My dad is a cardiac patient, any his nuclear stress tests have always (to my knowlege) included a treadmill. Whatever the reason your cardiologist has for wanting this I'm sure it's in your best interest. My dad after hear how successful this surgery has been for me is now going through the process to have it done himself. Though we don't talk much, I do love him and will be glad to have him around a few more years. What ever it takes is what you should do so that you can continue to be around for those that love you too.

Shout Out To All The Veterans...*carbs Or Calories*
O.T.R. sleever replied to Kristi64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With solid foods, yes, I can only eat about 5-6oz of dense Protein then I'm stuffed. I can however eat a full 16oz container of Greek yogurt. So portion control is still a minor concern. -
Shout Out To All The Veterans...*carbs Or Calories*
O.T.R. sleever replied to Kristi64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I no longer eat rice, potatoes, Pasta, bread, or fried foods I don't really have many calorie problems. I do lots of salads , fish, chicken, turkey, etc. and yes, I even cheat a little now & then. For example thanksgiving was turkey & gravy, sweet potato casserole, green been casserole, veggie tray, pumpkin pie, and even some Sam Adams Winter Lager. All of this in very small portions and still didn't go over 1200cal for the day. And I was really going all out. -
I think so, but then again I eat crabmeat straight from the package

How Long Til You Got To 600-800 Calories/day?
O.T.R. sleever replied to cmf1267's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everybody is different as far as time frames go. But as for now your first priority should be hydration then protein after you can keep up on both of them you should be pretty close to your calorie goal. Considering that 80g of protein is going to have a minimum of 400 calories, and most typically will be closer ro 550-600 on liquids. Mushies and full foods will add even more calories to your diet. I personally never experience any liquid restriction so calories, protein, & hydration have never been an issue for me. Don't worry about getting "enough" calories yet. It'll come as your body is ready for it. -

Only Down 9 Lbs
O.T.R. sleever replied to stokesmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm, according to your profile your goal is to lose 100lbs. Let's get some perspective here. You are averaging 4.5 lbs a week. In 6 months there are 26weeks. 26x4.5=117 lbs @ current rate of loss. I think that is great. Heck, even if your loss slowed by half it would only take 45 weeks (10.5) months to reach your goal. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think being able to remove what has taken years to gain in under a year is AWESOME!!! -
I Think I Know Why This Forum Is So Dead.

I wondered why this forum is so "dead" compared to the other three. I think you are losing a lot of members because the app won't all ow us to post. I had to open safari to post this. If you would like a screen shot of the "Parse Error" I get every time I attempt to post here you can pm me on VST or give me an email to send it to since idk how to attach it through this avenue. -
