Just not feeling good!
shrinkingturtle replied to Care1175's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree I think you are pushing too much too soon. I was liquid for the first month. Only soup, yogurt , cottage cheese, protein shakes, jello etc. weeks 5-8 I was on mushies. Creamy chicken salad egg salad scrambled eggs refried beans etc. I think you should take a few steps back and not eat too advanced. When I finally got to true solids for the first few weeks I was like you describe but not to your extent. Tolerable an manageable. -

Can You Eat Out After This Type Of Surgery?
shrinkingturtle replied to Joy1961's topic in Food and Nutrition
I eat out all the time and I would agree that appetizers or tapas are perfect. I also agree that having a small cooler with you is wondeful. I actually always have my small lunch bag size cooler with me with refreezeable ice packs. Ince I have lunch the leftovers go in. I also always have it in some baby bell, jerky, protein bars and so on and I keep it in the cooler that way no melt. McD's is still a go to do me also. I love the ice tea for a $1 but you can also order the grilled chicken breast only for $1 I get a honey mustard for dipping and I am happy. -

I had my sleeve done as day surgery. I was operated on at 10:30 and released at 1:30. During that first week I was second guessing that decision. But after that I realized how much it helped me feel in better control of my recovery. Had I been in the hospital I may have milked it a bit. Having been released I had to get up, follow written instructions and get my butt moving. I was up and in good forward motion in 2 weeks.

I would follow the list your surgeon gave you. Mine was full liquids for 4 weeks. so those things you mentioned plus egg drop soup, tomato soup, miso soup, pea soup, and juices. At first just focus on getting the fluids in. You can survive off your fat stores for a while. Try different tempature liquids until you find one that is most soothing. Train yourself to get the fluids in and as you heal you will be able to introduce most things. Just sip, walk, rest and repeat. At first all I could do was an once or so at a time. Over time it increased.

Does Your Taste Change After Surgery?

I am 2 months out and I can no longer handle: eggs, coffee, anything pickled, raw tomatoes, cucumbers, and parmasan cheese. That is just what I have found so far. Hummm -
What's Your Favorite Drinking Receptacle?
shrinkingturtle replied to Darla5060's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a insulated 20 oz. travel cup with a turn close top much like a travel coffee cup. It keeps my drinks really cold much longer than anything else I have tried. I normally get 3 a day in plus my protein shakes.
