How Much Was Your Surgery?
shrinkingturtle replied to change4life2012's topic in Insurance & Financing
$12,000 Coos Bay Oregon -
I use Splenda and really don't notice a difference. Also, Sugar in the Raw is sugar. It is just not as refined as granulated sugar. It is still in a more raw form. However, it does qualify as sugar.

Just Started Mushies And I Have ?
shrinkingturtle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure this is a something that happens in the beginning but I just need a bit of reassurance. I just started full mushies and I am pretty much sticking to scrambled eggs, soft canned corned beef with over easy egg yolk only etc.. I am getting this feeling like I either need to burp or vomit. It has happened 3 times in a row now but I have not burped or vomited. Again, I am sure this is common but I would like for it to stop if I can make it so. Any advise or tips would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance. -

11 Days Out And A New Pain?
shrinkingturtle replied to Ijam75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing. Mine started on day 10, my surgeons office says there is a line of nerves right there and that 95% of their patients experience it. It is totally normal and lasts about 2 weeks on average. I can tell you that I am 3 weeks out now and it is starting to get better. -
I am three weeks out and pretty much was back to normal at about a week and a half. However, I did have some nerve pain start up at about that time. It is very common and usually lasts about 2 weeks. I don't hurt all the time just every once in a while I get a shooting nerve pain. All that being said, no pain meds since about day 4. Just stay with it, it will get better.

How Do You Feel?
shrinkingturtle replied to cudlyqt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my surgery was 6/18. I was able to get in and out of bed by myself at 1 week. I was still tender heck I am still a little tender now having some nerve pain. I still sleep in my back because side is too uncomfortable but on a good note I am walking 2 miles a day at a slow pace. No more mess and protein and fluid intake are right on target. -
Scared, Only 4 Days Out Of Surgery
shrinkingturtle replied to caronsusanne's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am now 13 days out and things will look rosier soon. I have 4 full weeks post op of liquids only. All you are doing right now is mourning your old eating habits. By 10 says post op I was even cooking dinner for the family and sitting and talking with them while They ate it. Just know you are not lacking anything from a nutritional stand point and you are missing the activity of eating. It will pass. -
Water Hurts Going Down, Any Advise?
shrinkingturtle replied to LovingmeForever's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
At this point the important thing is fluids in general. So try different temps all the way up to hot to slushy cold. If flavored drinks go down without hurting then there you go. One last thing, are you sipping through a straw? If so try without. Straws are not advised and I can confirm this that it isn't as comfortable when first sleeved. -
Great news. Yes, ice chips ice chips. If you have gas issues in your shoulders and tummy do less Water sips and more ice chips. The water sips makes the gas worse. Keep up the great attitude and you will heal great. I am 10 days post op and have been back to work for 2 days now. Feelin' great.

What Are You Guying Eating At 2 Months
shrinkingturtle replied to Rosikah's topic in Food and Nutrition

caffeine is dehydrating and it is also a dietetic which is not good when everything we eat now we need to fully process and absorb. So no caffeine. honestly after a while you will forget. just be happy for the flavor and not cry for the zip.

Who Are You?
shrinkingturtle replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is so true, I am not my soon to be sleeve, I am me. So my name is Tara I am 42 yrs old and have been married to my best friend for 24 years. I have two adult sons and 1 granddaughter who is the most amazing thing in my life aside from my DH. I work full time as a Realtor and enjoy my work so much, I really enjoy helping people and sharing in their excitement. I love to travel (especially Maui) my favorite color is purple, my favorite animal is a sea turtle, I enjoy cooking for my friends and family while entertaining or camplng. We are an outdoors active family with camping, hunting, fishing, snow sports and beach going activities. I have two dogs who are my little girls named Angel and Sadie. I also have a cat named Fraidey but you don't see him much hence the name. I have PCOS which has really made the whole weight thing and side effects really hard on me. I lost my dad when I was 27 and that was really hard to have my dad gone at such a young age. My mom is still alive, lives near me and is a major support for me. I am not really a total girly girl. I like to get pedi's but my nail polish needs to be pink or purple camo. Well I also have a personal goal. The town I live in has a women's half marathon every May and next year I hope to run it and finish. I have never accomplished anything that required that kind of committment or with that much satisfaction to complete. So that is my goal. Well thats a bit about me and not just my sleeve. -

If you have a Costco near near you I like the Premier Protein Shakes from there. They are premade and 30 grams of protein. So yummy.
