You guys all look great. -
Both are centers of excellence. I have two cousins who are scheduled to be sleeved at St. Luke's in December. I was sleeved at Westchester Medical Center in 2013 in Valhalla, NY. Good luck to both of you and welcome to the sleeved community.

Newly diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis Sleever. Are there any others, I need your advice.
buplee posted a topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
After going through multiple surgeries and hospitalizations over the last 6 years, I just found I have MS. Are there any other Sleevers dealing with MS? How do you handle your medication and treatment? What helps and what should I expect to experience? Any advice would be appreciated. -

Sleeved on 2/19/13 at a starting weight of 309. I've been bouncing between 182-178 since June 2014. I'm so happy I got sleeved -
Some mushy foods just don't go down and digest the same. The fat content in the avocado may have been too high too soon. Good luck to you. I still have issues with baked sweet potatoes and I'm 20 months out.

Great job to all of you. -
I am researching medical marijuana to help with nausea, and side effects I am experiencing due to being newly diagnosed with MS. I know some. Peoples have had success, but feel strange about if since I have not experimented with anything like this since college 30 years ago. BTW- medical marijuana was recently legalized in any form with the exception of smoking it in NYS. I'm so glad I was diagnosed after being sleeved or I would have been unable due to an autoimmune exception in the policy without a long fight.

That is a temporary issue which comes from consistently taking in too little protein. The hair grows back once you up your daily protein counts. -

Everyone goes through an anxious period pre-op. I've had 6 major surgeries in the last 6 years including 2 neurosurgeries, and an almost fatal infection, but I'm still here. Compared to the other surgeries getting the sleeve was easy. I say stay informed but don't thing the rants or negative experiences of a few will be your fate. I'm 16 months out and 128lbs lighter and have no regrets. I still need to have another neurosurgery and am newly diagnosed with MS. Even through all of this, I don't regret getting sleeved, and know being lighter helps with my recovery and condition. Good luck and stop taking only the bad to heart. The complication rate is .01%. -
Great job. Congrats.

I log everything I eat on a daily basis. It helps me to stay on track of calories and exercise. I'm 18 months out and 126-128lbs down. -

Hi Fiddleman, Thank you for your reply. I have balance issues which causes me to fall, or stumble. I also have spells of blurred vision. I'm on oral medicine daily now and hopefully that will work. The next step would be an injectable medicine three times weekly, or a monthly IV. I have other neuro issues which complicates the disease, and makes it harder to determine which symptom belongs to a certain disease. -

How many r now obsessed with clothes, makeup, beauty products....

I'm not but my wife is obsessed with shopping for me. She has spent 1000s buying a complete new wardrobe for me. I've asked her to stop shopping, as I am still slowly losing. -
You really have to watch that habit as it can potentially turn into an eating disorder. I tell the newbies at my support group the same, as a number of veterans who did that early on have delivered problems. I stuck to the plan, I am 14 months post-op and 128lbs lighter for my efforts. Good luck to you.
