    Hard to eat foods

I have an issue with chicken when it is baked or cooked on a grill or rotisserie. I only eat chicken breast which I now find is too dry to digest. I also have issues with broccoli, onions, and sometimes mashed sweet or white potatoes. Anytime I eat those items, I have a problem drinking water afterwards no matter how long I wait after a meal. I usually after to get rid of a gas bubble by throwing up. I now stay away from those foods since there are other foods that are tasty, nutritious and don't make me sick.

    Where are the 50s ???

I am 52 now and was 51 when I was sleeved on 2/19/13. I was stuck for nearly amount at 98-99lbs loss. After undergoing my 2nd neurosurgery on 10/30 and being pumped full of fluids, I have now made it to 104lbs down since being sleeved. I am now recovering from my 3rd surgery in 1 year including 2 neurosurgeries and my sleeve.

I confess that it is still hard giving away my clothes that are too big. I confess I am worried about weight gain during my hospitalization after undergoing neurosurgery again for the second time in one year. I confess that I was very annoyed that my surgeon restricted my workouts pre-op, which added to me not reaching and being stuck at 99lbs. I confess that I've had a few glasses of wine to prepare myself for going into the hospital in the morning. I confess I've been so stressed about surgery again that I haven't gotten in my usual protein and water intake over the last week.

    Putting weight on

I weigh myself weekly and that works for me. I don't eat anything out of the ordinary and in large enough quantities to worry. I am scheduled for neurosurgery next week and won't get an accurate count after I am pumped with fluids following surgery. However, everyone needs to do what works for them respectively.

I think we all went through that. It was tough getting rid of $200 shirts, $500 pants, and $2000 suits. My wife had to take things out of my hand when I wouldn't put them in the bag. My only consolation was that I donated them to the veterans administration and to a local "dress for success" charity. Good luck to you.
  9. I was 309 a week before surgery, lost 12lbs leading up to the day and was 288 on surgery day. I have lost 98-99lbs depending on the day.
  10. My 8 month anniversary was on Saturday. I have been stuck between 98-99lbs down but can't get to 100. Congrats to all of us.
  11. Congrats to you for sticking to this. I too had a long fight and journey but am happy I made the decision to have surgery. Good luck to you.
  12. Great job. Keep up the good work.
  13. I've been watching what I eat since my surgery but my workout had been interrupted by my schedule from 5-2 days a week. I have been working longer hours to prepare things for being out following surgery next week. Maybe that has something to do with my lack of loss. I went for my surgical clearance and the doctor said "you look great" how much have you lost! I told him 99lbs and he put 100lbs lost on my chart and told me he won't tell anyone.
  14. Don't feel bad. I've been stuck at 98-99lbs and can't get to my first goal of 100lbs down. It has been one month with no change, but I am being patient because I know it will happen eventually.

    I KNEW IT! :p

I'm not big on them myself. I've always liked homemade baked goods. My wife owns a bakery but for her it is nice to have something she didn't have to bake herself. Her most requested items are her German chocolate cake, coconut cream cheese pound cake, special recipe carrot cake, and of course the ever popular red velvet. Since being sleeved, I have not had any of her sweets. She has however developed a line of sugar free Desserts made with stevia for her diabetic customers.

My wife loves Krispy Kreme donuts. She has eaten as much as a dozen by herself and she didn't gain a pound. We driven as far as 15 miles to pick them up when their hot and freshly made for the family.

There's a whole new flavored line of Oreos that comes in flavors like orange, banana split, watermelon, neapolitan, golden with organic flour, etc. I've never tried them but my family has. My wife is a purist and prefers the original.

    Sad state

I understand how you feel. I've had 6 six surgeries in 5 years including the sleeve and spent the entire month of October 2012 in the hospital due to emergency neurosurgery and also recovered from a staph and strep infection which almost killed me ( which was not related to my sleeve surgery).I'm also scheduled to have additional neurosurgery on October 30th. This new surgery has thrown me for a loop. I have isolated myself and keep things to all work and no play. I've also spent very little or no time interacting with friends or extended family. I too know what you're feeling and have lost the will to fight anymore. The only things that keeps me somewhat centered is my wife. She has suggested I speak to a therapist and stay connected with friends and family which I have rebuffed. Sometimes this forum is the only place to express how I feel. I can't show weakness professionally, but I'm so tired of it all. Hang in there and I hope all will get better for you.

I also saw the story about the link between bacon and sperm count. I guess that's why I didn't have 12 kids. Good thing we're finished having kids and I can occasionally enjoy a slice or two of bacon.

I saw the story about Oreos on the Today show and was surprised by the study. I've never been a fan of Oreos but my family likes them.
  21. I usually eat one oh yeah bar a day with a mini Bon cheese as my lunch. Gets me over my 20 grams of protein per meal requirement and are filling. I have it cheese to cut the sweetness which I don't want. I never have more than 1 a day unless I miss a meal and then I use it a such. I like the great flavors and my wife eats them as well when her day is crazy.
  22. I buy mini Bon cheese, premier protein ready made shakes, it has 30 grams of protein, almonds, tuna, turkey, ground chicken, etc. Good luck to you.
