  1. Thank you for sharing. It seems like he definite ideas and has no plans to change or even compromise. I'm happy that he gave you the financial support for your surgery, but it doesn't seem like you're getting the emotional part. I see that you have no plans to leave. Does that mean you are ready to settle and live in an unhappy marriage? It's just a question and not meant to be inflammatory. I do wish you and every couple with issues the best.
  2. That's really a shame when such a long term relationship unravels. How long would you say you've been in an unhappy? We get surgery to be healthier and hopefully to be around longer with our respective significant others. I don't understand why some can't see that and become insecure.
  3. I'm so sorry to hear that. Does your husband have a weight problem for him to be so insecure?
  4. I'm glad to hear that. It is always sad to us when couples are supportive sand can't work with each other. I've heard of so many couples have have had issues pre-op that got worse post-op.

Hair loss is a result of not getting enough of your daily protein requirements and is reversible. This usually occurs in the first few months post-op after consistently eating too low a protein count. Are you getting at least 60-80 grams of protein a day? Once you up your levels, the hair loss will slow done and stop. You can also take biotin as a vitamin supplement to help slow hair loss.
  6. The sugar content can be reduced by adding a bit of vanilla extract or agave nectar. I'm further out than you, so I can eat the entire 6oz container. You can speak to you nut about the mix-ins and divide the container into 2oz portions. Good luck to you.

    Greek Yogurt

I dry my fruit in the oven. My wife owns a bakery ( that used to be dangerous for me pre-op), and dries it for me in her professional over. She has never had a weight problem. You can look on the internet for how to dry fruit without a dehydrator. I included a link which I hope works and is helpful. Good luck, http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-dry-fruit-in-the-oven-92637
  8. I mix everything into the six ounce cup the yogurt comes in. I never put it into a bowl and mix it. That is a recipe for adding for much more than calories, and fat than you need.

    Greek Yogurt

I only use cranberries, blackberries, strawberries, or cherries, that I have dried myself, and never more than 12. I also only get the fruit loose from my local supermarkets and weigh the amount I get. I am allowed 24 by my nut but never let myself add that much. Thank you and good luck to you
  10. I used to eat that brand all of the time but found that I can get the same amount of protein or more by mixing dried fruit, chia, honey, or agave nectar, or pure vanilla extract, and/or granola, and 12 almonds into the non-fat yogurt without the processed sugar. I also only eat non-fat yogurt with the aforementioned items as a meal replacement and not as a snack. Eating flavored yogurt counts as a fruit serving which may not be permitted for those who are recently post-op. My yogurt concoction is approved by my nut, and you should also clear yogurts with your respective nuts. Good luck to you all.

    Greek Yogurt

I stopped eating the flavored yogurt since the protein levels are lower. I buy plain non-fat Greek yogurt, add a bit of honey, or agave syrup, or pure vanilla extract for flavoring, as well as a little dried fruit (cherries, cranberries, or blackberries), chia, and a little granola , and/or 12 almonds for texture. I don't eat it as a snack, but as a meal approved by my nut.
  12. Btw- I have lost 115lbs while on the drug since being sleeved on 2/19/13. I also take Nexium for reflux which has gotten much better.
  13. I take Gabapentin three times a day. 600-2x/day and 900 at night after two neurosurgeries in the last 14 months with no side effects. Good luck to you.
  14. There are a lot of us guys on here. The more you're on the site, the more you'll see on the site.
  15. Everyone loses at a different rate. There are different factors, in terms of the amount of weight to be lost, age, activity level, and general health. Most people are upset with their initial weight loss amount, whether you lose 10 or 30lbs. We have to keep things in perspective when it come to weight lost after surgery. We did not get overweight overnight or in 30 days and we won't lose that way either. Stick to the plan and be patient and you'll see the pounds melt away. I lost 16 lbs in my first 30 days and was disgusted, and then lost 60 lbs in 4 months. So, just hang in there and the results will happen. Good luck to you all.
  16. Why are you so angry? How far out are you to feel like a failure already? You need to be patient and stick strictly to the program set by your nutritionist. Hang in there and it will get better.
  17. Great job. Keep up the good work.
  18. I'm 52 and was sleeved on 2/19/13. I am now down 116lbs and happy for the sleeve. I've had two neurosurgeries in the last 14 months which limited my activity and still lost weight. My neighbor who had Lapband three years ago and lost 100lbs but regained 110 lbs due to complications. He underwent a revision to the sleeve after seeing my success with the sleeve. Good luck whatever you decide. This has been one of my best decisions ever, as I am now the lightest I've been in 36 years.

    African American Sleevers

Best wishes to all the newbies. You're going to start on your way to a rewarding, but sometimes frustrating journey. You'll have successes, stalls, and some issues with your new sleeve, but your life is going to change for the better. I was sleeved on 2/19/13 and have lost 116lbs on my way to my goal of a total of 150lbs lost.
  20. Hey, you're list sounds like you read my mind. My list is almost identical to yours. I wish you the best on your journey. How much have you lost so far? Bad: 1. I can't really tolerate chicken anymore. 2. I had to donate all of my expensive work clothes because they were were too big. 3. I often revert back to my early post-op diet and forget to eat, or I survive on yogurt with chia seeds and 12 almonds, string cheese and Baby Bon cheese. 4. I've had two neurosurgeries in the last year and still have some issues, so I haven't really been able to embrace my weight loss. Good: 1- I love the look in my wife's when she looks at me these days, which of course makes sex great. 2.I'm running out of clothes again because I am getting smaller so quickly. 3. I don't feel ashamed working out in the gym because of the way I look. 4. I have been this light since I was a teenager and can wear a loose fitting large and I'm on my way to a size medium.
  21. No one other than my wife, son, and mother noticed until I had lost close to 60lbs.

    Cheated?

I guess you call call me a liar as well, because I did not cheat during my pre or post-op diet. I did not consider and then undergo surgery to eat like I did previously.

    Your favorite PROTEIN BARS?

I like Oh Yeah and Carb Conscious protein bars. Both have great flavors with at least 15 grams of protein. I usually have a protein bar and a string cheese as my lunch.
  24. I did not mean to offend you. I'm not saying all newbies have such ridiculous thoughts. However, it has historically been people who are new to the forum, that try to stir things up, and are seeking approval for bad habits. I'm glad you're not one of them and welcome to the forum. Good luck to you.
  25. It's usually the newbies who want justification for continued bad behavior and get upset when there is a dissenting opinion. I agree with Laura- don't do it. It's a slippery slope which can lead to additional serious eating disorders.
