  1. If she is found out by the public, she could have some real issues if she is reported to the Attorney General. That is a clear cut case of fraud. Sent from my iPad using VST
  2. Why can't we all just agree to disagree? Can't we all just get along? I am not trying to lecture or make fun of anyone, but I've noticed a growing number of overly sensitive people on the forum lately. As I have said in previous posts, comments can sympathetic and empathetic but someone can also sometimes hear tough love. I'm sure some people say things that are mean spirited but I don't think the majority of posters mean to be that way. This is a forum of honest dialogue something's we like to hear and others we do not. It is up to the person to take info that pertains to them seriously or with a grain of salt. However, nothing hear should be taken so seriously to drive someone to tears. Maybe a cooling off period is necessary. Excuse me if my comments were a rant or lecture. Sent from my iPad using VST
  3. I completely understand HiPAA laws and medical confidentiality laws. Good luck to you. It sounds like you have quite a situation. However, I hope all works out for you in the end. Sent from my iPad using VST
  4. I'll have to try that before I leave on vacation. Sent from my iPad using VST
  5. I like the flavors from matrix and Protizyme. They have flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry cake, as well as Peanut Butter cookie. Matrix has a great Cappuccino flavor. I drink them straight or freeze them and make them into a sorbet. Sent from my iPad using VST
  6. Yes, mayo with olive oil tastes great and is much better than miracle whip. Sent from my iPad using VST
  7. I think this is a situation you need to conquer unless your employer mistreats you. My family has junk food around the house all the time but I am not in the least bit interested in indulging. This is a mental thing that you can overcome. If not by yourself then maybe through therapy. The old me would have sat around the family room watching tv with my family and eating junk food but not now. If you say you are not hungry, then try to divert your thoughts and attention to something else. If the urge grows so strong you can't resist find a replacement. Try having a yogurt, sugar free pudding for the sweet and string cheese for the savory. Maybe you can even offer your employer something healthy, and who knows maybe he'll like it and change a bit. I wish you luck in your struggle with this issue. Sent from my iPad using VST
  8. Unfortunately being tactful seems to be going the way of the VCR. A lot of people feel that they must voice their opinion no matter how hurtful. I guess society is not a PC as we have come to believe. Sent from my iPad using VST
  9. It was and we have had the last laugh. Her cousin is on her second or third marriage. Thank you. Sent from my iPad using VST
  10. We have all been there and it really does get better. As LipstickLady stated, my surgeon also wanted me to focus on liquids and then Proteins. Hang in there and good luck to you. Sent from my iPad using VST
  11. Another thing I can't wait for is not to feel awful when some idiots stares at my wife and I because of my weight. Also, I never want her to hear " but your so beautiful, you deserved a better man". This mostly came from her family, even though we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary in less than two weeks. Her mother and cousin bet and loudly proclaimed that they gave us two years max at our reception. Sent from my iPad using VST
  12. I think most people have no internal filter so whatever they think comes out their mouth. I'm sure we would all like "you did the right thing and I am proud of you", but that is not human nature as a whole. Maybe you are like me and don't share everything about your life but many do and are shocked when they don't get the response they want to hear. Maybe I'm just cynical and I expect people to say the wrong thing most of the time. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Freaking out. :/

I think we all go through that. I tried to convince myself that I could lose the weight again and keep it off but of course I was kidding myself. I hated myself for having made the painful decision to have surgery. I tried to use the 18 months I spent fighting with my insurance company as a sign that I should not do this. I told myself that I would be the unicorn who would have the surgery and not lose weight. I was finally sleeved on 2/19/13 and I am now 70lbs lighter and this time I will be successful keeping the weight off for permanently. This forum is a great place for advice, feedback and in some cases tough love. Good luck to on your journey. Sent from my iPad using VST
  14. I got some of my materials from the nut and surgeon. The rest I found online including watching videos of the actual surgeon being performed. I didn't see the need to buy a book when so much info is available online for free. Sent from my iPad using VST
  15. I had a bmi of 49 but no comorbities. I went for my required 3 months of nutritional counseling and weigh ins that turned into 6 months and then 9 months. I finally had to hire a healthcare advocate and a threat to sue after being denied twice before the denial was reversed. The time I spent fighting was 18 months and I worked for a major insurance/financial company. Hang in there it will be worth the wait once you are sleeved. Sent from my iPad using VST
  16. I ate two pieces of my wife's eel avocado roll and didn't have any issues but won't repeat due the carbs in rice. I have never been a big fan of sashimi but will have to learn to deal with it moving forward should the urge for sushi strike. Sent from my iPad using VST
  17. Well said. This sums up how most of feel when someone tells us we took the easy way out by having wls surgery. Sent from my iPad using VST
  18. I understand the need for some people to be transparent, but not everyone needs to know your business. I decided to only tell my wife and my immediate family. My decision to have surgery was a decision between my family and I, and should have no impact on anyone else. My brother in law had wls surgery 6 weeks before me found that out the hard way, as he decided to tell everyone. He encountered some positive feedback and many others who decided to self appointed themselves to be his personal food police. Maybe I am old fashioned but not everyone needs to know every intimate detail of my life, like what I eat, drink or think every minute of the day. However, to each his/her own. More power to you if you feel the need to share such details of your life, but don't be surprised or upset if all feedback is not positive. Sent from my iPad using VST
  19. I have physical limitations due to extensive neurosurgery but have used physical therapy 3x weekly as part of my exercise regiment. I also have an easy cycle, elliptical and a Pilates machine to help with my workout but have not been cleared to use the elliptical by my doctor as of yet. Even with the limited exercise, I have lost 69lbs in 14 weeks. Doing something like walking help tremendously especially now that the weather is warm. Sent from my iPad using VST
  20. I also started my pre-op diet early, to lose extra weight and to prepare for my new lifestyle change. It may be challenging but stick to it and you'll be fine. Good luck to you. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Wine/sangria

I have taken a sip of something my wife had on two occasions after 3 months. However, I will be enjoying a glass of wine or champagne when my wife and I Celebrate our 25th. BTW- Tink12/26- is that your bday or surgery date? Sent from my iPad using VST
  23. My wife and oldest went with me to the hospital. My son last left but my wife stayed around ( she always for my surgeries). However, when I was lucid I sent her home and checked with the family later. Sent from my iPad using VST
