buplee replied to tiffany81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

feb 2013 sleevers weigh in
buplee replied to kathyhalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
124lbs down since being sleeved on 2/19/13. I started at a weight of 309 and I'm now the lightest I've been since high school. -
I'm still around as well but life keeps me from signing in as much as I used/wan to. I am down 124lbs and about 20lbs from goal. Goal is 164 which I may or may not reach. However, I am happy to be out of the 200's for the first time since high school and my wife loves the new me. Hip, Hip, Hooray for the 50's.

New Article on NBCNews about Post WLS Skin Removal
buplee replied to SnohoGal98296's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I've had my doctor document all skin issues, so I won't have any issues having Aetna pay for my procedure. I hope to have plastic surgeon performed this summer. -
I get the Fage plain Greek yogurt which is packaged a little differently, but they all separate when they sit for a long time. I heard on the Today Show that storing it upside down helps limit the separation.

I like the Protizyme peanut butter cookie, chocolate layer cake shakes. I've also had good experiences with the matrix shakes which are a bit cheaper than the Protizyme. I usually order them from mybariatricpantry.com, or amazon.com

I missed that episode but it sounds like a wasted opportunity at redemption. There are many people who need and want the surgery and can't get it for financial or insurance issues. What a shame to waste the procedure on someone who clearly wasn't ready and has issues she needs to deal with via extensive therapy.

I am happy to heat about your success, but sorry you still live with such a high level of regret.

I'm a year out and notice very loud grumbling and gurgling from my stomach no matter what I eat. This has been happening for about 2 months now. I went to my gastroenterologist but he didn't find any issues.

How long do you wait to drink after eating?
buplee replied to smithpy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I stop drinking 30 minutes before a meal and wait 45 minutes after eating. I had to establish a routine because I would forget to drink in the first few months post-op. -
I have to disagree with you on that thought. My wife and I have been together for 30 years, and I HAVE NOT CHEATED. She is the love of my life ( not to mention that she's hot), and fell in love with me when I was poor and over 300lbs. She was then and is now the only woman in this world for me. BTW- how is your weight loss going? I am 120lbs down since 2/19/13.

Slider Foods? What is everyone's slider fiods?
buplee replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slider foods are high calorie high fat item which can still be eaten easily and in quantity after surgery. Some examples are as follows: ice cream, milkshakes, chips, candy bars, cookies, alcoholic drinks, fruit juices, etc. I hope that helps -
What's For Breakfast Today?
buplee replied to one_more_time's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My breakfast is the same 20-22 days of the month. I eat plain yogurt sweetened with 1 tbs agave nectar, 12 almonds or cashews, 2 tsp chia seed, or sometimes dried fruit, 2 tsp granola. The other days I either have a protein shake or two eggs with 1 oz cheese. -
Congrats. I officially became a vet on Wednesday.

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
buplee replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was 309 at the beginning of my journey. I am now 194 after being sleeved on 2/19/13. My how time goes by so quickly when you having fun. It seems like yesterday we were all talking about complications, stalls, and our successes. Now look at us all in our thinness and thinness to be. Good luck to all of the February 2013 sleevers. -
I was sleeved at age 51, 4 months after spending an entire month in the hospital after neurosurgery and have lost 115lbs since I was sleeved on 2/19/13. I am now 52 and two months shy of my 53rd. I had another neurosurgery in October/13 and have been progressing well. It is never easy to undergo surgery much less being over 50. You'll be fine and your doing the right thing for your health. Good luck to you.

Relationships after the sleeve. Are you happy and in it to win it? Are you ready to leave/divorce your tormentor?
buplee replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think a lot of people ignore red flags because they don't want to be alone or want to find another mate. However, settling almost never works out and leads to years of resentment. -
I was reading a post by a person who stated that her husband is angry, abusive, and unsupportive with her after surgery. I read it to my wife who wondered if this is a common occurrence for couples after surgery. I know another couple who is having serious issues since the wife was sleeved and has gone through a transformation. Does anyone feel like they settled because of their appearance or lack of self esteem and will make a relationship change? Please sound about your happy or unhappy post-op relationship. My wife and I have been together 30 wonderful years and she loves the new me, so we are in it to win it.

buplee replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love hearing about all the couples that are happy and are weathering the storm. It's a shame that some of us can't get the support of the person we love and to whom we have committed our respective lives. -

I didn't know you were so recently sleeved, so there is time for him to come around. I wish you the best and hope the counseling helps.
