  1. I usually have one Greek yogurt a day which usually has 13-15gms of protein with a few almonds. I looked at almond milk but at 7gms of protein it didn't meet my protein needs.

    I have Comorbidities ..... !

I am doing much better now. I have lost 74lbs since being sleeved on 2/19/13. Best wishes to you.
  8. My surgeon requires a two night stay in the hospital and will not approve the procedure on an outpatient basis.

    My Primary Doctor was PISSED

Malabsorption is an issue for bypass patients but not for sleevers. I am quite surprised your doctor is so misinformed. My surgeon takes out more bands than he puts in due to the complication rate and tries to dissuade new patients from the band. The maker of the band has been buying up a lot of ad time to counteract the bad publicity the manufacturer has been getting lately. Not to bash your doctor, but a change may be in order. I went with the band after research by my wife, support from this forum, and from knowing three people who had complications with the LapBand. Good luck to you.
  10. My nut is ok with them as long as they meet the following criteria: Less than 15gms of carbs Less than 200 calories At least 15gms of Protein. Zone bars and the other candy bar type Protein Bars don't meet her standards. Btw- I only eat them when I am traveling and can't get to other food.

    I have Comorbidities ..... !

That didn't work for me. I had a 18 month fight with Aetna before I was approved. I was only required to undergo three months of nutritional counseling, but that timeframe kept getting longer. At, the time I had a bmi of 49 but no comorbities. Aetna finally approved after I hired a healthcare advocate and threatened to sue.

No or can or should fault you for your beliefs or lack there of. I can't imagine your pain and don't know if my words can comfort you. I have gone through things in the past and needed someone to talk to, as my beliefs have shifted dramatically to almost nonexistent. Contact your healthcare company and ask for referrals to mental health provider in your area. I am sorry for your loss and wish you well in life and on your journey.

    What if I die?

I think that goes through most of our minds, but we are doing the surgery to live a longer healthier life. The mortality rate nationally is less than 1%. Prior to being sleeved, I had neurosurgery where my surgeon was worried about me at almost 300 lbs. Unfortunately I have had more than my share of surgery over the last 6 years, but I am still here to talk about it. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

    Buyers remorse anyone?

I like some others had a brief period in the first month when I was adjusting to my sleeved. I have lost huge amounts of weight (50-100lbs) during diet and exercise but always gained it back. I am down 74lbs since being sleeved on 2/19 and have no regrets. WLS is not easy or for everyone, but works for me. Best wishes.
  15. Certain family members noticed but did not say anything to thinking I might be sick again. However, they did ask my wife if I was losing weight. She told them I was but it was intentional through portion control and exercise.
  16. It is uncomfortable and I get the foamies if I drink too soon after eating. I usually wait 45-60 minutes unless I lose track of time.

    Post Op Penis Size

I'm not bragging but since being sleeved, I don't even have to be in the same room anymore.

Any success stories for the 50's group?

Sleeved 2/19 at age 51. I am now 52 and down 74lbs even with some neurological issues which prevent heavy workouts.

    51 and Getting Sleeved 8/8 !

Not a sister but was sleeved on 2/19 5 weeks before my 52nd birthday. I have had health issues resulting in several surgeries and hospital stays. I still have some limitations but have lost 74lbs so there is hope. My wife's happy with my progress.
  20. I was given anesthesia via an IV and face mask for oxygen.
  21. I find it hard to accept compliments because all I see when I look in the mirror is how much I still need to lose. My wife is encouraging me to go clothes shopping, but I don't see the point yet. I told her the ones I have are fitting fine. She said I look like I am wearing clothes that belong to someone else.

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

Sex is definitely a lot better after being sleeved. My wife told me she is going to start doing more aerobics and yoga so she can keep up with me.
