    Divorce rate..post op

As a guy and a good husband and father, I take exception to how easy it is for some women to generalize and lump most guys into one bucket, of emotionally bankrupt whiny little babies. I'm sure that just as some guys are not great partners, the same can be said for some women. I have had several serious surgeries in the last 6 years and have yet another to face, but I am not whining about it. My wife, family and I are dealing with it head on. If a significant other is not cutting work on getting things resolved or move on. That should be the case no matter what the sex of the person. Just as I hate men being portrayed as buffoons on tv, I hate that some us get bashed by our mates as well.

    Work out attire

I'd probably say go with a 2x so it will offer restriction. You may also do a search for the gynecomastia shirt and ask a rep to help with proper sizing.

    New to the Forum

Welcome this is a great place for advice, to vent sometimes. The majority of us have been through the process and can advise you on what to expect in most cases. You will get sympathy, empathy, and sometimes tough love. Check in often and don't get discouraged or disgusted if your views are not shared by others. Good luck on your journey.
  4. You both look great. Good for you both.

    Sleeve surgery

You may want to try going to a Sam's club or Costco if you are near one. They usually sell it by the case? You can also try Amazon.com to see if they have it. Good luck to you.
  6. I saw the following slimming shirt on a website by the name of nomorerack.com. They are made of spandex and are on sale for $11 and come in various sizes. I have included a link to the site. http://www.nomorerack.com/daily_deals/view/560557-slim_ts_mens_body_shaping_slimming_tank_top

    Does it really matter?

I'm sure some people say things to get arise out of someone or to start a conversation. Life is full of judgements, whether it is because of weight, sexual orientation, your choice of a significant other, what we wore over the weekend, or the job we do. When we get a review or feedback at work there is a level of judgement included. How an individual deals with negative comments is what does or does not do is what defines them as a person. If we all we not able to deal with judgements we wouldn't be able to get out of bed in the morning. Everyone is entitled to their respective opinion whether I or you agree or not. You should make sure you are not judging others as harshly as you have accused them of doing. I don't agree with all you stated but respect your right to say it.
  11. What I share or do not share regarding my health is the business of no one. I have had several hospitalizations and surgeries and no one asked me about those. My wife and immediate family are the only people who know. It is up to the individual to determine what level of information to share or how much is tmi.
  12. You look great. Good job.
  13. I am almost 6 months post-op and 85lbs down. The pre-op diet was easy to get through for me. I dealt with my food issues and gave up unhealthy foods and started by cutting portions, not drinking with meals, and no snacking. The post-op was a bit of a challenge because of the the sweetness of the protein shakes and the cream soups. My wife started to purée and strain homemade sop which was a welcome departure from the other items. The main thing was that I stuck to the program and DID NOT CHEAT on either phase. I know some are of the mindset that it's ok, just get back on track the next day, but the next day turns into the day after that. It's important to get in touch with your respective food relationships and deal with them accordingly. The surgery is a lifestyle change and is a tool to help fix your body, but does nothing for your mind. You must handle that part separately. Good luck to you all.

    scared of being that 1%

I agree. Researching and asking questions helps you make an educated decision, and it seems you're on your way. I have had many surgeries and each time I researched and inquired until I was confident I knew everything I needed to know about my procedures. There are risks associated with any surgery minor or major. However, you should be focused on living not dying. That's the reason you're considering surgery. I wish you well no matter what you decide.

    Cheating during two weeks?

As I have said many times before, stick to the plan your surgeon gave. I did not cheat on my pre or post-op diet. I am 5 months and 85lbs down and still haven't cheated. The diet is to help you prepare for surgery and your new lifestyle post-op. it is not meant to be to torturous. Sure the popular belief is that you cheat today and tomorrow is a new day, but for some it becomes once a cheater always a cheater. After surgery, you'll need to heal and being on a all liquid diets has a purpose. Anyway, I've had my say and now I am finished. It is up to you to follow the instructions or give into temptation. That is not to say you won't ever have a bite or two of something unhealthy or indulgent, but don't make it a hobby. I've taken this surgery seriously because this as a last ditch effort to keep of weight and I won't fail. Good luck whatever path you take on your journey.

    Wearing clothes...

I'm down 85lbs and no longer shop in the big and tall section. I am now a part of the regular size club. My wife bought some clothes but had to return them because they were too big even though they were way smaller than I used to wear. I am thrilled with my weight loss after 5 months, but my wife is killing our bank account buying new clothes for me. I told her that I am still losing weight and to slow down, but I am indulging her since I deprived her for long. One ironic thing i discovered while shopping is when I wore a 2-4X, I could fine anything. Now I see tons of 2Xs and not my size. Yeah for all of us!!!!

    Trying to open up

First I am sorry the op has received such negative comments for opening up to this forum. I appreciate what you say whether I agree with everything or do not. The journey for everyone is different, some take the straight path and some do not. I was overweight my entire life except for the several times I lost 50-100 pound and always gained it back. When I was working out, I rationalized that eating a budget and fries or having a piece of cake or something unhealthy was ok because I was so active. When I got hurt and was not exercising I continued to eat like I did when working out. Of corse, I gained back everything I lost. I don't feel like I am depriving myself by not eating the foods that got me to over 300lbs. I am cutting out and changing those triggers because have wls is my tool for success. I don't know the age of some of the posters, but I have more days behind me than I face and want to spend those days healthy for my wife and family. My indulgences are flavored almonds ( brown sugar, praline, maple, etc) but never more than 12 which I mix into my yogurt. Have I had a sip or bite of something my wife or family is eating? Sure, but I have inhaled all of my food and mine as well. I am choosing a path that works for, and I am 85 lbs down 5 months post-op. Good luck to the op on your journey and Sharon it is nice to see you back again.
