6th day into liquid diet
buplee replied to mizzchrisv's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I used the time I spent waiting for approval (18months and 2 denials) to work out my issues with food. My wife and I have traveled extensively around the word and eaten at Michelin starred restaurants and ate meals from some of the best chefs in he world. So, I am well aware of the sleeve being a tool and advocate for more than the one required therapy visit to work out your respective food issues. -
Did you keep your surgery a secret?
buplee replied to Disabledaccount's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I only told my immediate family and no one else. My medical history other than my neurosurgery is my business. I had one family member remark about my weight loss and stated before I could say anything, that she knew people who had surgery and are now gaining their weight back. She said all of this before I got out a word as I was getting dinner at a family affair. She made a comment about how little I had on my plate and that she's a big girl and that was her snack portion. No wonder she weighed at least 325 and went on to say she loves food too much to have surgery. Sometimes a smile from you and someone with a big mouth will save you from saying anything at all. Btw- she talked so much I never had to answer the question and went back to the table with my wife to eat. Good luck to you. -

Look into Protizyme and Matrix protein shakes. They have great flavors which made my shakes palatable. Good luck to you. -
12 week Transformation challenge for vets
buplee replied to Fiddleman's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Hey Fiddleman and Butter the Bean, I want to be like the two of you fitness masters when my sleeve grows up. Between the workouts regiments and the 100 miles in 30 day runs, you guys rule. All hail the fitness chiefs!!!! -
I am at 14 weeks and also have no interest in food. My schedule made it easy for me to miss meals, not drink enough, and get in my protein. Once I saw this spiraling out of control, I met with my nut who helped my wife and I plan our meals which has helped tremendously. She suggested, I make a to-go bag which fits into my briefcase. I have a ready made protein shake, protein bars, almonds, a bottle of water. It really helps me keep on track when I am away from home. I still have no interest in food but at least helps me not miss meals and meet my nutritional goals. Good luck to you.

I am 6.5 months out and 88lbs out. I had 18 month fight with Aetna before I was approved after two denials, which gave me some to time to gain insight into how my life and that of my family would change. Am I a vet chronologically on this site? Maybe I am and maybe I'm not. However, I do learn something new or get a different understanding from the posters on this forum everyday.

I have to give your workout a try once I run it by my neurosurgeon. Congrats on your success. -
Whenever I am asked about my weight loss, I say that I have revamped my diet, workout, and proactive portion control. All which is true. Some people feel their entire life is an open book, and everybody needs to know everything down to their every meal, thought, and bodily function. I am not of that mindset and never will disclose more that I want known.

I don't know what to say about your husband not making a positive statement about your weight loss. Does he feel uncomfortable with the emerging you and feel threatened? I think some guys can be idiots and not the most sympathetic. Which as a guy, I don't understand. Btw- good luck to you and congrats on your weight loss.

Good luck to you. It is possible to lose the amount you would like. However, everyone is different and lose at different rates. I have lost 88lbs in 14 weeks and would like to lose more. It is important to stick to the program given to you by your nutritionist and surgeon. You also should not give up when stalls happen, and trust me that will no matter what you do. Good luck to you on your journey.

The options after veg are a duodenal switch or a gastric bypass. Most surgeons are moving away from the LapBand due to the high rate of failure and complications.

Great work.

I tried gold bond with coq10 and Nivea but didn't see any difference over any other lotion. The key is keeping hydrated, using a moisturizer, and exercising.

How do you handle attention from the opposite sex now that you've been sleeved and are SUPER HOT?
buplee replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My wife told me she enjoys seeing women looking at me, because she knows they can't have me. She may sound cocky but she's right. There is only one women for me. -

I'll try that. I am taking baby steps trying to get used to the emerging me. I can't understand how I can do so well professionally and yet be so critical of myself. My wife and I have a trip booked for later this year to the Caribbean, maybe I'll be a bit more comfortable by then. It will be our first trip to a beach in 28 years, and I owe it to her. -
