  1. Btw- I hope no one is offended by my previous post. It was not said to be provocative to start a war of words. I am always happy when I here of anyone who has lost weight and keeps it off. Welcome back to the op.
  2. I've spoken to several women in my support group who stopped losing at a higher weight them most of us would prefer. I have two cousins who got down to 180 and 200lbs and stopped because they didn't want to lose to much on certain body parts. Good luck to you on maintaining and keep your husband in check. Hey Laura-Ven- I like the new pic. Keep up the good work and congrats to you.

    Any husband and wife sleevers?

Congrats to all of the couple who have or will be sleeved. I wish you all well on your respective journeys. You all are an inspiration to all overweight couples. The fact that both in the relationship are going through it together should help with managing your respective diets and any mood swings. I was sleeved in February and I am down 95lbs. However, I have an inter-weight marriage and she has never had a weight problem. My wife has been my biggest supporter since she has been around through my various weight stages. Again I say, good luck to you all.
  4. I had a pretty severe case of gerd which is being managed by nexium. It has not nearly as bad as it was before I was sleeved and have lost weight. However, each person is different.

    200 lbs down

    Awesome job. Congrats.
  6. I don't believe this story is real. Gawker.com is like The Onion.com and produces a lot of satirical news reports.
  7. There have been some great responses to the question posted by op. Good luck to everyone on their respective journeys.
  8. I hope the op and the person who had surgery recently will return. Some of the comments were unnecessarily harsh for the sake of being rude. Yes, we need to help some by being blunt but not by being mean. Let's give some the same type of support you wanted when you were new or struggling.

    Where are the 50s ???

My pre-op diet was 2 protein shakes a day until 48 hours prior to surgery and then it was clear liquids. My post-op diet was two weeks of full liquids. It was not easy but I did not cheat. My wife made some great soups for me and strained it and then added unflavored protein powder. It made the last days easier since I got tired of the sweet protein shakes. I am 7 months out and 93lbs lighter. My wife is in heaven looking at and buying new clothes for me. I am 52 and never thought the weight loss would happen this quickly. I would still like to lose 35-40lbs more, so I still have a bit to go. Good luck to all of us sleevers in our fabulous 50's. Who knew the 50's would be the new 30's.
  12. For me and the quality of life of my family this was the right choice for me. We all have expressed fears about the decision to have surgery to lose weight. I lost and regained large amounts of weight several times during my life and did not want that to be the case for me any longer. I cheated my wife and family out of times at the beach, pool parties with friends and other social settings because of my weight. My wife loves to dance but I would not because off m weight. I was sleeved on February 19, 2013 and this has been one of the best decisions of my life ( with the exception of proposing to my wife). I am 93lbs lighter and my wife and I are doing things socially now which would have made us uncomfortable in the past. Good luck to you no matter what you decide.
  13. My wife made me go through my clothes to get rid of my oversized clothes this weekend. I was more than happy to donate but had a problem getting rid of my new and almost new ( some still had the tags on them) expensive suits, slacks, and shirts. I had a wave of what if I regain the weight I lost- what would I have to wear? My wife kindly said, you have not cheated, drink only Water, and exercise like a maniac. So how is that going to happen? I then got into it and donated the clothes to the Veterans Administration, The Red Cross, and to a local Dress for Success chapter for lower income men looking to enter the workforce. All are great causes, but it was still hard getting rid of items I never or barely wore 2-3 times. Has anyone experienced this or am I being crazy?
  14. Mother bought me an Italian wool suit for my birthday last year, I only wore it four times. She was ok with me donating everything but the suit she bought me. I had to put it on to show her how big it is on me. She said maybe a tailor can alter it for me. I told I could buy a new one for a little more but will take it for a quote. She is having a harder time than I am getting rid of it. I told her someone less fortunate will benefit from the gift.

    Surgiversary...

    Awesome Congrats!!!!!!!
  17. Great job. I'm very excited for you.
  18. I think all of the posters caught the essence of what we all felt and will not miss in our new life.
  19. As I have stated before, my wife was definitely out of my league when we started dating. She is a gorgeous women whom I've know for most of my life. We were childhood friends who became best friends as young adults( he we used to discuss out dates). I knew the type of guys she went for and was surprised when she asked me out. Her girlfriends and certain family members felt she was too good and beautiful to be dating me. I used to ask what made her choose me, given her options. She would just smile and said she was using them to make me jealous so she could get to me. Well, for all the naysayers and negative comments we are still going strong. I know this is going to sound pretentious, but I am going to say it anyway. Other than her best female friend, all of her other former girlfriends have had failed relationships and we are approaching 30 years together. They are all struggling and we live a very nice comfortable life. She told them I had potential but they only saw my weight. So, I guess if she settled for me, then I am glad she did.
