Nervous Surgery Tomorrow!
polican replied to MommaMeg01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I packed my phone and charger, chapstick, slippers, pajamas, magazines, and a few snacks for my hubby. The only thing I used was my pajamas (so I could walk the halls) and my phone. Everyone you need the hospital will provide you with. They will give you nausea meds, they give you socks with the grips on the bottom. Don't bother bringing much because you will not be awake long enough to use it. Oh, and good luck. You're gonna love the surgery -
I am Polish and my husband is Mexican, Polish+Mexican=Polican We call our kids little Policans or Mexilocks

polican replied to Avillias's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had acrylic nails n my toes painted. -
I'm 2 1/2 out of surgery and I was just wondering what everyone else has lost on average? I feel like I'm not where I should be which makes me very upset... PS--I've lost 28 pounds since July 11 (when I started my pre-op diet).

Water Makes Me Nauseous!
polican replied to IweightNoMore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the opposite situation. I used to drink a decent amount of water before my surgery but now, it's all I want. I actually crave water all day long. I would rather drink water than eat, that's crazy isn't it? -

Thanks ladies for the feedback, I just wanted to see if I was behind or something, lol. -
I have tried some soft foods myself and tolerated them well :-)

How Long Before Normal Lifting?
polican replied to lcle1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 2 weeks post-op and I've already resumed my normal activities (laundry, cooking, cleaning,) and lifting my kids (4 & 5 yrs old). Everyone is different, so just go at your own pace. -
My doctor told me either water or skim milk. the milk will give you more protein. I wouldn't try the banana just yet, ask your doctor first.
-
I eat hummus, applesauce, and baby food (check the sugars though).

My husband and I waited exactly 1 week, though I was ready after 4 days post-op. My husband was the one who wanted to make sure everything was okay but I kinda pounced on him an that went out the window, lol...

Pain Pump In Hospital?
polican replied to Laceyloveland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on July 24 and I only used the pain meds in the hospital one time to try to get some rest. I was up walking and sitting upright in my bed a few hours after my surgery. I would have to rate my pain as like a 2 or 3. -

Help! Just Had Surgery 2 Days Ago
polican replied to nanny02's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved on 7-24-12 and I didn't have pain from the surgery, but from the gas as well. I was told to walk a lot to get rid of it, it didn't really help me. You can try Beano or Gas X-strips. It took about 3 days for the gas to start letting out, now I feel fine. Good luck and just be patient, it will go away. -
Not Supposed To Drive For At Least 1 Week.
polican posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 7-24-12 and I'm not using any of the pain meds (or any other meds), just wondering why I can't drive yet. Any suggestions??? -

To Tell Or Not To Tell....
polican replied to PeaceLove&Tash's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't going to tell anyone (except my husband-obviously) but that didn't last very long. I figured oh hell with it, the more who know the more support I'll get. If people don't like it, they can kiss my fat (soon to be smaller) butt, lol. -
They make shampoo that washes in haircolor and fades after a few washes with normal shampoo. That way you get color when you need it and you don't have to worry about doing any damage to your hair. They also make mousse that puts a tint in your hair.

I use Mirena, I have had used it for the last 4 years. No weight gain, no bloating, no mood swings, and the best---no period.

What Will Happen If I Don't Follow The 2 Week Preopp Diet?
polican replied to Bigdogkc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 3 of my 2-week diet and I am quite shocked at how well I am doing. I thought it was gonna be a lot harder but I haven't had anything but protein shakes and broth. Everyone is different so don't get discouraged. -

I went to the Salvation Army, Walmart, and I looked on Craigslist. I didn't want to pay $30 for a shirt or pants from other stores.
