I'm so nervous, I can't sleep. I know this is suppose to be a happy time.. Finally getting my consultation... But I can't help feeling super nervous. :/ I might have the surgery as soon as the last week of November!! Did anyone else feel the same way I do?

Is making this choice even more difficult for me to make. He's not fat and has never been so I feel like he will never understand me. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has or had a similar problem and how where you able to over come it.
-
Did anybody have to get tested for this before surgery? I had to and it came back positive. I took the antibiotics and the retest, came back POSITIVE AGAIN!!!!! All this is just pushing my surgery date farther and farther away. I'm so pissed and depressed.

Yes. They think I might have an ulcer. :/
-
H pylori bacteria.

How many of you get asked if your sick with the dramatic weight loss? How do you feel about it? I'm a little worried about that. :/
-
Ya, but I have a friend that got the surgery done and everyone knows it. She never kept it a secret and people still tell her she looks sick. One person recently told me she didn't like the way the weight loss made my friend look.. That it was a sick look rather then a healthy look. Now, in my opinion I think my friend looks great. I'm just affraid too many people telling me I look sick.

I was/ am required to lose 10% of my body weight before surgery. If I'm not able to accomplish that, the surgeon is putting me on a 3 week liquid diet.. Which I'm most likely going to have to do because I haven't been able to lose much! :/ I was told that the reason is in case we have a fatty liver. The weight loss prior to surgery is going to help reduce the fat on our livers and make the surgery much more faster and safer.

Ok so that you guys can get an idea of why he's against it... My husband is a born and raised vegetarian, he avoids processed foods and try's to always eat organic. I guess you can call him a health freak. He wants me to lose weight the "normal" way, good old fashion healthy eating and exercises. He just doesn't understand that when you've been brought up almost your entire life with bad habbits, they are EXTREMLY difficult to just stop.

I haven't told my kids that I'm thinking about and in the process of preparing myself for this surgery. They are 8, 9 and I also have a 1 year old. Tonight has been the 2nd night my 8 yr old daughter cries because she was thinking about me dying. She cries and tells me she doesn't want me to die and it just breaks my heart into a million pieces!! It makes me doubt my choices. I'm scared and this doesn't make it any better. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

When I had my gallbladder removed, my kids were really worried... Maybe even a little too worried. As much as I tried explaining that it was not a big deal, a simple procedure, they were still worried as hell. I dont really want to put them through that again, that's the reason why I'm choosing not to tell them. I guess everyone knows their own children well enough to decide whether or not they should be told.
-
Thank you all sooo much. You've all been a great help to me!
-
Actually, I wasn't thinking of telling them at all. I think they are too young to truly understand. I think I'm just scared and worried of dying and leaving my children without a mama. Then again I can die tomorrow for being over weight! I'm just nervous and my baby girl crying doesn't make the stress any better! :/

Wow.. Thats amazing!! Would you mind sharing your diet plan?! I'm struggling to lose my 10%. ????
-
So I'm required to lose 10% body fat before surgery. I'm having such a hard time with it! :/ Can some people share how they lost some weight before surgery.
-
Omg Ava I'm in the same boat!!! I need to lose 10% of my body fat by the end of August and I have no idea how I'm going to do it. It's like all my will power has gone out the window and I want this surgery so bad.. I'm scared I won't be able to drop it! let me know how it goes for you! Good luck!!
-
How much weight were you required to lose before surgery?.. If any.
-
Omg, I thought I was going to have a hard time with my PCP, but no! She listened to the issues I'm having and completely understood me. I love her!!! Now I go to a class that explains the 3 different weight loss surgeries my insurance covers and decide which one is best for me. I believe it's between lap band, the sleeve, and gastric bypass. I think for me it'll be between the lap band and the sleeve.
-
That was just in Germany. Glad I'm not thinking about doing it in Germany!
-
I'm a little worried about having a foreign object in my body. So maybe this is a silly question, but can your body reject the band?!
-
I'm also between the lap band and sleeve, but the 1/200 death seems incorrect. I believe that's for the gastric bypass.

Thanks guys for your responses. I don't think there's anything wrong with people that consider boob jobs or have to get metal plates put in etc etc. I've just personally had a bad experience with an IUD and it's probably nothing in comparison, but I was paranoid the entire time and sure enough when I went to my follow up appointment it had fallen out of place. :/ I'd just hate to get the lap band and just be paranoid about it the entire time. Glad to hear that there were some people out there that had the same conserns and have the lap band. Ps teeth filling seem superficial to me. Not really an internal thing. Maybe that's just me.

Where do you have Kaiser? I have it in Southern Cali. My BMI is 40 something, but I don't have comorbidity. Can I still qualify?
-
Im new here and I love reading everyone's experiences. I always thought that bariactic surgery was just the easy way out until a friend got the fobi pouch. It's been quite a journey for her and has made me look at weight loss surgery in a completely different light. I am very interested in getting the lap band, but I don't think my doctor wants me to get it and I need her recommendation.. Right?! If anyone can help with their experiences that would be great. I'm 30 and about 260... My BMI is EXTREMILY high so there is no question that I do qualify for this surgery.

I've read a lot of Northern California experiences with Kaiser Permanente. I was just wondering if there are any Southern Cali experiences. I'm in the city of Downey and I really want to get the lap band.
