  1. My pre op diet is 0% fat yogurt, 1% cottage cheese and skim milk. As much as I need to have. I can also have coffee, tea, SF Jello. That;s about it. I have been on it for 1 1/2 weeks and there have been some days that have been really tough. I have been able to work through them without cheating (going to be early a lot), so I feel good about that. I can make it and you can too!

What's your pre op and how long?

  2. It felt like this time would never come! I am so excited an can hardly wait. I have been on a preop diet of yogurt and cottage cheese for 1 1/2 weeks already and I am so sick of the stuff, I almost prefer not to eat at all!

This forum has been so great in helping me decide and prepare for this life changing moment. I look forward to the time when I am on the other side and I can give the same type of support and encouragement that I have received.

  3. Hmmm..Something strange. I have not lost any weight for a couple of days. I have stuck to this CC&Y diet like glue so I am a little disappointed. I know it's not for this reason but still....The first week I lost 14 lbs. I wonder if my body is in "starvation" mode?

    Any guesses anyone?

  4. Donna - you can eat all those things after but the difference will be that you will feel SATISIFIED after just a few bites - you wont have to eat the whole thing! That is how I am looking at it.

My DH promised to share a kit kat blizzard with me this summer. I will enjoy it immensely, but will not have to have it all.

  5. So I got over yesterday's hellish day. Not fun at all. I did take people's advice and did et more towards the end of the day and I think that helped. Trying to eat more today.

Last night I was fantasizing about a fresh roll and butter. I was watching tv with Lily and I could see myself going to get that roll, getting out the Becel, slathering it on and taking a big bite. That was a HUGE struggle. I had to keep telling myself that this is not a fad diet I am on, it is for my health and to ensure the surgery will go well.

I am proud to say that I did not eat it and after waking up this morning, my resolve was strenghtened. I am so glad.

Can't stop thinking about LL's friend who died from a massive heart attack before getting WLS. I keep thinking it could be me. I am grateful that I am able to have this surgery. No more MORBIDLY obese for me.

  6. Mr. Yoda,

With 9 Y&CC days under my belt, I can tell you that it DOES get easier. What I did was weigh myself everyday and the first couple of days I kep losing 3 lbs a day - so that helps to motivate.

Also, think of the consequences of not doing the diet - the chance that they might delay or cancel your surgery. I know you don't want that.

    You can do it!!!

    How many more sleeps?

  7. Hope you slept well LL. I love reading your blog right here. If you do decide yo get another space for one, please give us the address so we can read.

I have a little Japanese Spaniel named Kayko. She too is very sensitive to the cold and therefore has to wear a little coat in the winter (Pink wool with leather toggles and patch pockets....but I digress).

I am glad you are feeling better about your friend. Loss is always hard and it takes some time to heal. Loss is not hard when it's your weight and another 1.8 lbs is great!! What will happen when you start the Optifast???

    Have a wonderful day.

  8. Hi JoJo,

About telling your boys... I have a 9 year old daughter and I too was worried about waht to tell her. I decided to tell her the truth but I prefaced it with...You know how mommy has struggled with her weight, even since I was as young as you....now I am doing this to get healthy because unlike other people eating healthy and exercising have not worked for me.....

She seems fine with it and then we talked about her eating healthy and she is doing great! I go for surgery next week and she is very supportive.

Good luck with your consult (Same day as my surgery)

    Susan

  9. Dear Leslie Lee,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. How very tragic. I hope your hurt will heal over time.

I think we all have to be grateful that we are able to do something about this disease. It is almost like your friend dying while waiting for a heart or kidney transplant. I am glad though that your resolve is strenghtened now - I am sure that he would be very proud and happy for you.

    Thinking of you,

    Susan
