  1. mmmm I think my goal will be to just keep on doing what I am doing and not to go too crazy when I go out for dinner before I start my pre-op. I am going to allow myself a few days of the last supper phase, I have to say though I am kinda not all that excited about it right now... lol Am I sick??? Or have I started to think more wisely. lol hmmm guess I will find out soon enough! Would be nice to drop another 10 pounds this month... guess I will try for that!

10 pounds gone before crossing to the banded side.

-=crosses fingers, toes, legs, arms, eyes.... =-

    ^(^)%)HJP)(# tho0**-4)&%$

hmmm apparently I can't type like that!!

LOL!! 10 lbs is amazing! I would suggest not to go overboard, but allow yourself a couple of treats, so you won't panic before the Optifast.< /p>

  2. Hey Susan,

Tomorrow is my big day also. I decided to come on to work today, I thought it would help to make the time go faster. I dont know if it is working, all I can think about is tomorrow. The hospital just called, I am to check in at 7:30 AM. It hit me..... this is really happening. I have just been dreaming about it and wanting it for so long. This is better than Christmas. Good Luck Susan, we will have to keep in touch and compare notes.

Good luck to you Laura! It's exciting isn't it???? Today is like christmas for me because after being on cottage cheese and yogurt for 2 weeks, I am on Clear Liquids today which allows me to have broth and POPSICLES and JUICE!!!! Heaven.

Laura check in on this thread when you are able and so will I!

    T

  3. Hard to believe that it's finally here. Tomorrow at this time I will be at the hospital getting ready for the surgery! I took today off from work, as I am on Clear Liquids only and I wanted a day for myself before the big day. TO my fellow May 2nds.....bravo!!! we got this far and we will be banded before we know it! Woo Hoo!

  4. Hi Cloe,

You sounds like you have it together! Try not to worry too much about the medical problems, let the Drs sort it out and then deal with it. You are banded - you can do anything!!!

Online stores are the way to go. I would suggest to get a good web developer and very good software. I don't have personal knowledge but from what I understand that "shopping cart" can often make or break your business. It has to be easy to use for the consumer as well as for you. Good luck and let us know when you are online. Bandsters...break out the CC (not cottage cheese....credit cards)!

  5. :clap2:

Not just the sun outside but in these dark days of preop diets and anxiety!

I am actually feeling pretty calm today. On the urging of my one sister, I called both my father and my other sister to tell them I am doing this. Surprisingly, they were both supportive and my sister said she will have mushies for my on Mother's day. To be honest it is a relief because I don't like to lie - it's one thing to lie to colleagues or even my in-laws, but it's much harder to lie to my own family, I never liked to do that.

DH is as always supportive and wonderful, giving me extra long hugs and not complaining about the lack of fresh food. He even booked a pedicure for me for today. LOVE THAT MAN!

To all of you who are going on Friday - it will go fast now...wait and see.

  6. Well, since I am newly banded, I think I will try to stay with the post-op diet as best as I can. To be honest, I am going to my cottage for about a week this Thursday and I thought I might try a little popcorn. I'm on full fluids. Is that suicidal or what?

    NO NO NO

May Goal - stick to the rest of my post-op diet till the end of may.

Donna - don't do the popcorn yet! You haven't even started mushies! I was rereading my post op diet materials last night and they keep stressing how important it is NOT to push. You don't want to risk hurting yourself or the band and I understand that popcorn may not be the easiest food. Please don't do it!

  7. I am dying here.....I am still a few months out from surgery but have to lose for my insurance. Yesterday we had a retirement party at work (cake) and an ice cream social at my daughters school (more crap to eat). Already this morning I feel out of control and craving sugar. If I can just get back on track today, I will be okay again. It is the weekends that are killing me. I need a better tactic for them....

    Hi LeeAnn,

I would try to stay away from those simple carbs like sugar - they are the kiss of death both because of the weight you gain but more because of their addicitive qualities. You will find staying on track much easier if you just avoid them altogether. Keep your goal in mind and charge!!!

    Good luck!

  8. The clinic I am with requires a high potein, low fat, low carb diet which is pretty easy to do. The reason is to shrink the liver because it has to be moved during surgery and shrinking it will increase your chances of success.

The diet is 0-1% fat cottage cheese, 0% fat yogurt plain or artifically sweetened, skim milk, sugar free Jello - in whatever quantities you need to satisfy. Also, coffee, tea 1.5 litres of Water per day. The first week I lost 14 lbs, but then the second only 1.2 lbs.

  9. With mothers day coming up, we have a lunch in a restaurant with my in laws and then dinner at my sisters. I will only be on mushies at that time and none of the aforementioned people know about my band. I have no desire to tell them either.

What to say? My husband suggested telling them I am on a special diet - but that does not ring true to me - I have never heard of a diet where you can only eat mushy food!

Then I thought about telling them I am having problems with my teeth and until I can get it fixed I am on mushy food.< /p>

Do either of these sound plausible? Has anyone else been in this situation and what have you done?

  10. HI: My objective in writing how I felt, is to point out your original reason for getting the band. Don't loose site of it. At the seminar, it was pointed out that the liver is a very delicate organ and the doctors have to move it aside to put on the band. The liver can be easily damaged so the smaller the liver the better it is for you. Does this little reminder help any of you "in waiting banders"???? I hope so. Doddie

Yup! It sure does and I am feeling proud that I have done well. I am ready for this surgery!
