  1. I didn't even know about it, but I definitely want to go. Since I was banded in the hospital, I did not get the after care package. Kathy is away today so I will call her tomorrow to get all the info. Mr. Y - what type of band did you get? Dr. Yau told me he put in the Swedish and everyone else seems to have the mid band. I wonder why? I will ask Kathy that as well tomorrow.

So maybe we will meet after all! Will Mrs. Y be there with you? Maybe we can organize a "lunch" - we can all go to a restaurant, and order 1 dish between us! LOL

  2. It's been ages since I wrote on here. Gotta keep up!

Tomorrow I go back to work. I am a little nervous worrying what if:

    I become weak or dizzy.

People notice me only drinking fluids.

Don't think they will notice my weight loss because I am wearing the same clothes that I was rapidly growing out of! Anyways at my weight 20 lbs is not that noticeable!

I am enjoying being off work!! Thank goodness I did not have to take this as vacation time - I need to plan some.

On the other hand it will be good for me to get back into my routine and not think about "ME" all the time. DH is a dear but does not know how to do laundry.

    I miss cooking.

The weather is nicer, looking forward to going out for walks without fear of falling down!

Can't wait to get on my bike!!

Looking forward to my first bite of real food and to see how fast I can feel full!!!

  3. Hi Susan,

I am feeling quite a bit of dizziness as well. I also feel nausea but not enough to vomit. In addition, I feel weak.

For you or any of those that have been banded before me, is it normal to:

    1. feel pain on your chest when you burp?

    2. feel tightness (like over full) only after having a few sips of liquid? I can barely drink anything. When I do drink, I feel pain only after a few sips. When I don't drink I feel very dehydrated. What can I do?

    Hi Cat,

No nausea and much less weak these days. When I burp it is more of a tightness I feel than pain. I have been able to sip Water and juice quite easily. broth, about 1/2 cup at a time and about 1/2 Jello at a time. I know that Dr. Y is always very concerned about dehydration, therefore I would advise you to call the clinic if you are having trouble sipping Water. Are you siiping slowly? That may help. I used a straw for the first few days and if I took to big a sip held some of the water in my mouth and let it trickle down.

Cat, please let us know how you are doing!!!!

  4. Hi Leslielee. Oh MY! Just looked at your ticker and you are already down 15lbs before preop! That's a great running leap. When do you start Optifast? What else do you get to eat with it?

Today I start full fluids and I will try one of these premixed Protein Shakes I bougt. They are expecially for diabetics, so I hope they taste decent. I also bought some nice cream Soups. It will be interesting to see how it goes because I could not eat a Jello portion in one sitting yesterday! LOL Life will NEVER be the same.

    HAng in the LL...

  5. Has anybody tried the Jello i am scared to try. I am feeling fine except the chest feels pressure as well. Glad to hear everyones went well.

I tried Jello today and found it a litlle difficult. I could not eat the entire small container - only about 1/2 until I felt full.

  6. Sorry about my bad sense of humour - no offense to anyone.

I am wondering if any other newly banded is feeling dizzy. I am almost constantly. What do you think it's from? I start full fluids tomorrow, so I was thinking that might help.

To you veterans....did this happen to you? Do you get this after fills?

  7. My Surgery I Was In My Birthday Suit With A Gown On Also On A Shaved Chest When I Awoke Weid Looking.

    Just HOW weird Slackaction? LOL:)

To all the May bandsters coming up this week....It will go fine! Take good care of yourselves afterwards, rest, take your meds and don't rush your post-op diet!

My thoughts are with you all

  8. Thanks guys. I am back!!!

My experience in the hospital was absolutely phenomenal until I was taken to my room after recovery. Remember this was NOT at TLBC, but at Scarborough Grace Hospital. Mostly I think the nursing staff on the surgical ward are overworked, but enough of that.

When I went in yesterday morning the day surgery staff was so wonderful. Truly caring and very supportive. The pharmacist, Dr. Yau and the anaesthesiologist all came to talk to mr. Dr Yau was so very supportive and I think I now have a crush on him! :embarassed:

They walked me into the operating room and just as I was breathing deep in to the mask and thinking that I didn't feel sleepy, I woke up in recovery! Dr. Yau was there, told me that everything went really well and that he put in a Swedish band. My recovery nurse Cathy was a darling and then abouto an hour later - up I went to my room. I think I'll skip that part. Dr. Yau came in a little later that afternoon to see how I was doing and even called early this morning to talk to my night nurse. Did I mention that I have a crush on him????:embarassed: LOL

I was discharged around 11:00 this morning with a scrip for Tylenol 3, which I am making use of. Other than that I feel great. I am now on the banded side and looking forward to the future. I am not hungry at all, so I have been sipping Water and cranberry juice all day.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences, giving me support, hope and comfort and lots of good laughs. I plan to stick around and join you in sharing triumps and tribulations, welcoming newbies and celebrating all the milestones to come.
