Hi Leslielee, It's fun to have your own thread isn't it? I use mine like a journal and post my thoughts. I love when people respond, because you are right - they always make me feel better. Susan

Crushing Meds right after surgery
susansilver replied to susansilver's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks. I'll talk to the pharmacist today. Susan -
Since I was a child, I have HATED throwing up. :sick We're talking hysterical crying, not being able to catch my breath etc. I would make an awful bulimic. I am hoping with my fear of vomiting, that I will be a compliant bandster, in order to lessen that effect. Musings....

Ahh peace for you. I have a 9 year old so I can't remember that last time we saw adult movies - if you into the G rated ones...we say Firehouse dog - which was adorable and great for both kids and adults; and Are We Done yet - which sucked for both kids and adults. We are having a night out this coming Saturday - any movie suggestions?

I was sondering about popcorn... We went to 2 movies this weekend and I really like movie popcorn! Does that go down? how is Mr. Yoda today - is he getting nervous?

Last night I was watching Gene Simmons Family Jewels with DH and they were showing very graphic details of his and Shannon's face lifts. OMG! I looked at DH and asked him if I was crazy! "What's so bad about being fat?", I asked. "Do I really want to go through surgery?" Well the answer is yes. Fat is bad for me. Diabetes, High blood pressure, risk of heart attack and stroke.....No I am not crazy, I am finally taking control of this disease of obesity and overeating that has plagued me all of my life. I have one foot in bandland and can't wait to jump in wholeheartedly! Susan

If I knew then (right after banding) what I know now, I would/wouldn't..... This question is NOT about regrets about being banded, but rather what you have learned from day 1 until present. Be interesting for all to read. Susan

I am so close now that I can almost taste that cottage cheese and yogurt! :hungry: Today is grocery shopping day and this is the last week that I will NOT buy cottage cheese and yogurt so as to save those foods for the preop. I committed to join a 4 week walking challenge at work starting Monday. Everyone wears a pedometer and has to walk 10K steps every day (not including treadmill). If you don't mnake your 10K you have to throw $1 into the pot. At the end of the 4 weeks whoever has the most steps will win the pot. Since My surgery is the 2nd I am sure to throw money in, but I thought it was a good way to get me up an moving even before the band. What do you guys do to exercise? Susan

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
susansilver replied to Yoda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Next time you come to T.O. - let one of us natives give you some good references for dinner. I hate to spend money on bad food. Mr. Y - I am going to the seminar on April 10 -let me know if you are going we can say hi. And bring pics of Ms. Yoda! Susan -
Thanks Yoda - I am sure that I have not read that part of the package - or skimmed over it and it is a very good reminder of the patience that we all need and most of us (me included) lack.

Wowweee!! This is a huge accomplishment! Congratulations and I hope to join you one day. Susan

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
susansilver replied to Yoda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry about the sucky hotel. Where did you stay? Great news about May 5th Cinque de Mayo (sp?). and 3 days after me. Did you also get the yogurt and cottage cheese diet? Do you have to go to the preop seminar? Where do you and the mrs. live? Glad you loved the show. Susan -
Cloe you are an insipration (along with the other) to us newbies. Happy Easter to you. Susan

Did you get a lot of questions? How did you handle them?
susansilver replied to Holly35's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not been banded yet (May 2) but I have chosen to tell just a few close people. To the others I will tell them that I am exercising and practising portion control. Susan -
Canadian considerations for Lap-Band?
susansilver replied to Holly35's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Holly. Welcome. From what I understand the SWLC's price of $16K included fills. I also believe that the $200 for the consult wil be included in the 16K if you go with them. I have chosen TLBC in Toronto and they too charge $16K including fills and follow up - consult was free. You are correct that OHIP will not pay any portion of this procedure. You will find much discussion about ow stupid that is - but such is the case. I suggest you read lots of posts on the forum before you make this decision. Best of luck to you! Susan
