    Best 'O Luck to SusanSilver!!!!

Thanks guys. I am back!!! My experience in the hospital was absolutely phenomenal until I was taken to my room after recovery. Remember this was NOT at TLBC, but at Scarborough Grace Hospital. Mostly I think the nursing staff on the surgical ward are overworked, but enough of that. When I went in yesterday morning the day surgery staff was so wonderful. Truly caring and very supportive. The pharmacist, Dr. Yau and the anaesthesiologist all came to talk to mr. Dr Yau was so very supportive and I think I now have a crush on him! :embarassed: They walked me into the operating room and just as I was breathing deep in to the mask and thinking that I didn't feel sleepy, I woke up in recovery! Dr. Yau was there, told me that everything went really well and that he put in a Swedish band. My recovery nurse Cathy was a darling and then abouto an hour later - up I went to my room. I think I'll skip that part. Dr. Yau came in a little later that afternoon to see how I was doing and even called early this morning to talk to my night nurse. Did I mention that I have a crush on him????:embarassed: LOL I was discharged around 11:00 this morning with a scrip for Tylenol 3, which I am making use of. Other than that I feel great. I am now on the banded side and looking forward to the future. I am not hungry at all, so I have been sipping Water and cranberry juice all day. Thank you all for sharing your experiences, giving me support, hope and comfort and lots of good laughs. I plan to stick around and join you in sharing triumps and tribulations, welcoming newbies and celebrating all the milestones to come.

LOL!! 10 lbs is amazing! I would suggest not to go overboard, but allow yourself a couple of treats, so you won't panic before the optifast.

    Cloe-Missing In Action.....NOT!!!!

Hi Cloe, You sounds like you have it together! Try not to worry too much about the medical problems, let the Drs sort it out and then deal with it. You are banded - you can do anything!!! Online stores are the way to go. I would suggest to get a good web developer and very good software. I don't have personal knowledge but from what I understand that "shopping cart" can often make or break your business. It has to be easy to use for the consumer as well as for you. Good luck and let us know when you are online. Bandsters...break out the CC (not cottage cheese....credit cards)!

    Susan's Solemn Silliness

:clap2: Not just the sun outside but in these dark days of preop diets and anxiety! I am actually feeling pretty calm today. On the urging of my one sister, I called both my father and my other sister to tell them I am doing this. Surprisingly, they were both supportive and my sister said she will have mushies for my on Mother's day. To be honest it is a relief because I don't like to lie - it's one thing to lie to colleagues or even my in-laws, but it's much harder to lie to my own family, I never liked to do that. DH is as always supportive and wonderful, giving me extra long hugs and not complaining about the lack of fresh food. He even booked a pedicure for me for today. LOVE THAT MAN! To all of you who are going on Friday - it will go fast now...wait and see.

    May Goals

Donna - don't do the popcorn yet! You haven't even started mushies! I was rereading my post op diet materials last night and they keep stressing how important it is NOT to push. You don't want to risk hurting yourself or the band and I understand that popcorn may not be the easiest food. Please don't do it!

    All Pre-Op Dieters...Check In!

Hi LeeAnn, I would try to stay away from those simple carbs like sugar - they are the kiss of death both because of the weight you gain but more because of their addicitive qualities. You will find staying on track much easier if you just avoid them altogether. Keep your goal in mind and charge!!! Good luck!

    Pre-op Diet Advice

The clinic I am with requires a high potein, low fat, low carb diet which is pretty easy to do. The reason is to shrink the liver because it has to be moved during surgery and shrinking it will increase your chances of success. The diet is 0-1% fat cottage cheese, 0% fat yogurt plain or artifically sweetened, skim milk, sugar free Jello - in whatever quantities you need to satisfy. Also, coffee, tea 1.5 litres of Water per day. The first week I lost 14 lbs, but then the second only 1.2 lbs.
