Hello Everyone! I am curious if you've had/have carpel tunnel if, as you lost/loose weight have your symptoms diminished? I had a Nerve Conduction Test (NCT) and I have a very moderate case of carpel tunnel, which I acquired with pregnancy! ;( I endured real bad carpel tunnel symptoms during my entire pregnancy. After birth, symptoms mellowed out and then came back!!! The doctor feels that surgery is a good option for me, as I have been dealing with carpel tunnel for too long to use a less invasive treatment. Also, I have tried many treatment options. I will research this option, but not sure a surgeon is willing to take a risk operating, because of how obese I am (BMI 52). I will surely find out more information. After my own research and talking to the doctor who performed my NCT, I discovered that there is a connection between carpel tunnel syndrome and obesity. However, the doctor was unable to tell me if weight loss would help with the carpel tunnel. Curious what experience has been with carpel tunnel?

Still Have Carpel Tunnel?
Sannah replied to Sannah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I am curious if you saw a neurologist for carpel tunnel? Did you have an MRI of the brain? Thank you kindly! Sannah -
Hi All! I hope your journey is going smoothly. I have been reading on VST for a while now. I was starting to feel concerned about the pre op diet, but I am starting to wonder if I actually have anything to worry about? This week I started my pre op appointments. Welcome group, NUT and psychologist. I have to say I am a bit surprized about all of these appointments. Psychologist- This was a weird conversation and we did NOT talk too much about weight loss. We talked about almost all major aspects of my life: marriage, parenting, my family history, doctoral program and goals I have. The psychologist told me about his life a little. When I left I had a list of goals that the psychologist made for me, which were to say the least, were weird and really not related to what we talked about. Did you have this experience? Nut- I LOVE my NUT, she is the best. She is a vegetarian as well, which is nice. I need to loose 20lbs prior to surgery, but I have three months to do so. So, we talked about small changes, like pre measuring 1oz servings of cheese (I LOVE CHEESE) and eating about 1500-1800 calories. We also talked about not making changes until I feel its time for me. Everything really seems very centered on what I feel is right for me. The NUT gave me samples of Protein Shakes, and said if I wanted I could replace one meal a day, but that was up to me. Why are so many having these intense pre op diets? Am I missing something? Maybe I have a more intense version coming up? So far I am very pleased with the clinic and the entire team. Next week I see the PT, NP and have the metabolic test. I would love to hear what your experience with your pre op appointments has been like!! Thanks for reading and sharing! Wishing You Wellness, Sannah

Working On The Essentials...
Sannah replied to Sannah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi!! Very different experiences we are having. The psychologist is part of the weight loss surgery team. I filled out a 370 question form and then had a very dynamic conversation about all aspects of my life. The surgeon said to loose 15-20 lbs for surgery. I am cool with the day before being all liquids. I can't imagine if I met the 20 lbs requirement why I would need to do a crazy pre op diet. It does not make sense to do a pre pre op and pre op. The nut said a lot of people get nervous about having to loose this weight prior to surgery. Time will tell!! Sounds like I should prepare myself either way!! Thank you replying!! Have a good Sunday!! Sannah Sent from my iPhone using VST -

Drum Roll Please! 6Th Month Medically Supervised Weight Loss.....
Sannah posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello All Pre Opers! Curious what your 6 month medically supervised weight loss period is like? Who is telling you what to do? What is working? What is not working? My insurance Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield will not really tell me what is required of me during this 6 month period other than seeing my doctor and weighing is. This seems too good to be true! Is your insurance being vague about these requirements? Thank you for sharing your story! Can not wait to hear back! Sannah -
Hello All! How often do you weigh yourself? It is my understanding and I see how, that some people can become addicted to weighing themselves. I have heard some say they weigh daily or multiple times a day. What is your schedule? What do you consider to be a healthy relationship with the scale? Does twice weekly sound alright? Looking forward to hearing! Sannah

Digital Food Scale.. Is It Worth It?
Sannah replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a digital scale and I have used it for years (2003). Very helpful for measuring my food portions and for making different recipes. The scale has both standard US and Metric measurements. I purchased mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond. However, they are rather common and you should be able to find them at Fred Meyer, Target, and most cooking shops. For me the scale was an essential tool in previous weight loss. I am currently pre op and I have every intention of using it post op. I currently use it and track on My Fitness Pals. I have messaged with a few others who are sleeved and they (not all) use a digital scale. I would say this is a good purchase! Wishing You Wellness, Sannah -

Very nice! You have the process rolling eh? I am pre op as well. I have had my sleep study and I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea! I was so confident that I did not have this problem. I felt devastated when I received the news!! Next week I have my PT, NP, Psychological evaluation, and nut appointment. I hope your sleep study results yield no sleep apnea!! Wishing you Wellness, Sannah

CBT: Glad to hear you had no complications!! Bummer to hear about your pain level, that sounds like it could have been rather challenging! Thursday I have my PT, NP, Psychological evaluation and Nutrtional appointments. I am three months into the six month medically supervised weight loss program, which is required through my insurance (Premera BCBS). I looked at the Oregon Weight Loss Clinic as well.. Maybe I should go back and find out if Emma Patterson accepts my insurance. I have heard many great things about Emma. So did Emma come to Legacy to perform your procedure? Wishing You Continued Wellness, Sannah

West Cost Menter Wanted.. Are You Sleeved?
Sannah replied to Sannah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hellonurse! I am having some weird profile problems. I have the app on my iphone. I am just realizing this and I am not sure what to do. Both have the name Sannah, but different photos. I want to avoid any confusion. Until Then, Sannah -
Hello! Looking for a sleever who is further along than I! This is not hard considering that I have yet to be sleeved! I am still enduring all the testing and meeting of insurance requirements. You: Sleeved and in the process of weight loss, perhaps female, open, and easy to chat/talk/e-amil or text with. A little about me: I am a Mom, wife and college student (almost done!). I am trying to decide if I will enter into my Masters or Doctoral program, but none the less I need to take some time to work on my health and well being! I have done a great deal of reading about the sleeve and I am thrilled to have this option afforded to me. I live in Oregon. Until Then, Sannah
