Hello, I was in your shoes not too long ago. I decided the sleeve for a few reasons. I like you was part of Band Talk and did tons of research, but the more I read about the band the worse of an idea it seemed like(for me). -long term success -potential early complications verses months down the road - decreased appetite - it will cure my sweet tooth - no fussing with fills and unfills - no worries about internal erosion - little to no sliming - not having to worry about a port - quicker weight loss - it seems like a fair amount of people are band to sleeve revision and this worried me. I met a guy with the band. He has had his for 2 years and lost 10lbs. This is scary to me. -sleeve feels like the right thing for me. Bypass too big of a process for me. Band felt like too little and a lot of room for failure. Sleeve is the happy medium. - no worries about malabsorption -I want a life long change, not a device has an expiration date. - I am huge on fruits and vegetables and the sleeve allows this. My body is starting to be affected by my weight. I am 5'5" was 307 and now 298. Impaired glucose, sleep apnea, back and knees problems. My doctor if I have wls she would not be worried about any of these problems. I think faster weight loss is better for my health at this point. I hope this information helps out a little. Wishing you the best while making this huge decision. Best, Sannah Sent from my iPhone using VST

My nut taught me that food is not "good" or "bad". I can have anything, in moderation. Also I can view food as a trade off. If I eat a high calorie food to maybe consider doing a little more activity. Sounds like you will be able to enjoy the things you love!!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Pre -Op And Wavering Between Excited And Terrified
Sannah replied to carrieann70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I am 5'5" I finally broke the 300 lb mark!!! WOO HOO! I am now 298! I also have a little one, a girl who just turned one! I am almost 31 years of age. I am pre op and finished my 6 month of medically supervised weight loss yesterday. My papers have been submitted to insurance. Where are you at in the pre op process? Do you have an insurance medically supervised weight loss period? So, we have some things in common. The big thing we have incommon are these feelings! One minute I am excited at the potential the sleeve could bring to my life and how it would change my daughters life. The next minute I feel like backing out due to the fear of dying and or living with any severe complications. I am so afraid that I might be the one whose body does not react well. Thanks for posting! It sure is nice to have someone to relate with! These emotions come and go minute to minute and day to day. When will this change? Perhaps feelings these emotions is normal and healthy for us, because this is a VERY big decision to make. For a while I was reading and posting daily on the board, which for the most part was beneficial for me. I have learned a great deal of information from reading about others experiences. I thought with the all the knowledge I have gained that these feeling would subside, but they havent. So, for now I realize the fear is healthy and necessary for success. I wish some how we would provide words of comfort, but it seems we must endure this rollarcoaster! Soon enough we will embrace the rewards of this journey. Wishing You the Best, Sannah -
Caffeine Withdraw..
Sannah replied to ready2bskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is hard. I went from 6 shots of espresso to 2 and then none for pregnancy. What helped me was finding something else to drink to replace the caffeine. This had to find a beverage I liked just as much, which was hard. I did decaf espresso or diet 7up. I know carbonation is not desirable for the sleeve. Wishing you the best!!! How does this work for you? Can you process nuts? Beans? Boca burgers? How has the band changed your vegetarian life style? Made it harder? Easier? I would love to hear from you!!
