  1. I was sleeved June 12th and find that I walk hunched over a bit and v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. Pants hurt because I'm still sore... How long before you could wear clothes comfortably and walk without a hunch?
  2. I had my sleeve yesterday and sailed right through! Very little nausea (here's a piece of advice - ask for the behind the ear sea sickness patch before you go under and ask for nausea meds every time you get pain meds, whether you feel nauseous or not). The stuff I had to drink for the leak test was nasty, however it felt good to get liquid down my throat. Walking hurts but ís necessary. Walk, walk, walk! I also included a pic of a few of the incisions. I did have a hiatal hernia so I ended up with 6 cuts. All in all a good experience! Good luck and contained pain wishes to all who have been sleeved and to those who are yet to be sleeved!!
  3. The part that hurts the most is the large incision on the left side. The hernia opening is the tiny one on top. Still hitting pain meds!!!

    Vst Family....i Finally Made It!

I am so happy for you!! Congrats on reaching 100lbs lost! That's a great goal and you look great!! Keep on keepin on!! How has your skin adjusted with the weight loss?
  5. OMG!! I sent my last post with pictures from my cell phone and just now looked at the picture of the incision and it's upside down!!! My incisions are above the belly button for the most part, too! Sorry for the confusion!! I think my phone has been hitting the pain meds :-)
  6. Sorry - Newbie here.... I tried to delete my tickers and only have one showing but I'm obviously missing a step or two in the process! I've gone to the Manage My Profile page and have only managed to ADD to what was already there. Advice please?
  7. Thank you!! We'll see what happens tomorrow...!

    Made It Through Surgery Today.

Congratulations!! You sound like you are flying through it - very encouraging!! Keep felling better!!
  9. THANK YOU DuranFan1969!! I am soooo ready to be at the hospital. My tummy is doing some flip-flops now, but I'm sure everything will be ok :-) Please keep me in your tomorrow-prayers... my call-to-the-hospital time is 5:30a.m. with the action happening around 7:30a.m. (I hope!)??? All I know id that I'll have one sleepy hubby waiting in the lobby! Hope all the sleeves today were without incident. Also, good luck - thoughts and prayers with you - to the Wed & Thurs sleevers, since I may be out of touch until then!
  10. MamaM - thank you so much for the answers to my many questions! I'm bringing a cushie pillow with me because I read that if I need to cough/laugh/sneeze/breathe, etc. that it would help. Intuitively, I think anything pressing on an incision would make it hurt, but many have commented that a small pillow helped. Ok, one last clarification - even though you didn't get a drain, what is it, why would one need it, where on the body is it and what gets drained... if one is needed? I'm so sorry for being a question pest!! You really have helped me a lot!! Thanks!
  11. Thank you Mina! I am ready to cross over to the bench tomorrow! Questions for anyone who has already run the gamut... 1) What is The Binder? Mina you said it helped you today... 2) Some have mentioned being "bagged" and others have said they have a drain that gets removed. Can I get more details on what all this is please? 3) What did you wear to the hospital? I would imagine that with fluids and swelling, nothing even mildly tight around the waist would work, correct? 4) Did you stay in the hospital gown and if so, not to be silly here, but what keeps you from flashing the floor once you were made to walk the halls? 5) what is the average wait time from arriving at the hospital to the actual surgery? I know someone who had to wait 11 hours!! Yikes! I know I should have gotten answers prior to the 11th hour, but it's my night before nervousness that is making my mind race! Thanks!!

Robin - I just sent you a friend request for the super secret June sleevers group. Thx! Lynn
  13. Thank you Eric - I needed to hear this! You are so right in your words... Thank you for the response and for your prayers! Lynn
  14. Good luck to all today's sleevers!!!! Thanks for the advance well wishes for tomorrow! I'm very nervous and obsessed that I don't have enough time to get it all done before I go in tomorrow at 6am. I dropped my three boys (7,9,11) off with grandparents in Houston and drove back up here to Dallas yesterday with a heavy heart, wondering if I'd ever see them again... Am I obsessed with the off chance that things will go wiggy or have any of you all felt this as well? I'm a mess!
  15. I'm in the final countdown (surgery on Tues) and I'm nervous and excited at the same time! 2 weeks of liquids has been challenging, but at least now I know I can do it. It's amazing to see what my relationship with food has been all these years and just how much socialization involves food... kids birthday parties, mom meet ups, date night with my hubby, school functions, happy hours, bunco, etc. They ALL involve food. I'm learning to steer clear of edible temptationd! Not easy... :-)

    My Self-Imposed Preop Diet.

Hi New_Hope! My surgery date is June 12th with Dr. Kim in Dallas... Can't wait!!

    My Self-Imposed Preop Diet.

Hey - every lb. gone is one less lb. we have to haul around, right!!?? I'm raising a mental champagne toast to all of us today who made it through a day on liquids!

    My Self-Imposed Preop Diet.

Today was my first liquid day, too! Little rough this evening, but I'll make it. 3 nasty BariEssential shakes (2 with skim milk and 1 with water), 2 s/f popsicles, 64 oz. Crystal Lite, 32 oz Water and waaaay too many thought bubbles of the things I can no longer eat (at least I mentally pushed the thoughts out of the way - normally I would give in!). ... and on another note, I've lost count of the times I've had to potty today but at least I've not had any other bathroom issues! Whew!!
  19. This was never discussed with my doctor... I'm 50 and 5'3" and have no idea what is realistic for my age... Current weight is 261. Ideas?
  20. Thanks Barrbdoll! Good to know! I can't imagine weighing 112 - I think I was in grade school the last time I saw that number... When I met my husband 15 years ago, I was 145 and I can live with that again. Kudos to you for listening to your body!
  21. Way to resist the temptation!!! Proud of you!!!
  22. A few friends have mentioned that their nose will start running once they've eaten enough food and I'm wondering if this is a way the body indicates that it's full... or can it be attributed to allergies in my part of the world (Dallas, TX)?
  23. Please add me to the fabulous group of June sleevers - June 12th, Forest Park, Dr. Kim! Thanks so much for doing this!!

    Last Chance Eating

I start liquids tomorrow (June 12th surgery date) and I have to admit that I did indulge just a smidge - eating a bit of some foods that are now in the "no zone"... It was, in a way, my formal goodbye to those food items that have gotten me to where I am today and will be like kryptonite to the success of my surgery. This way, I have bidden adieu to some of my former favorite foods and will not let them influence me any more! On to healthier choices!!
