  1. wondering if my life will ever be normal. I am a mother of four (10y, 3, 2, and 3 mth) and started back working yesterday. Today had been somewhat difficult. I've had NOO energy on the mornings, and some diarrhea with cramping several times the last few days. I'm afraid dehydration is to come although I can drink much more now that four days ago. Going to work has me around ppl who can eat normally and I really don't have any issues with that but when I even eat a couple spoons (using BABY spoons at that) I feel something weird. Almost that I'm full, but not really. Just very hard to describe. Is this normal?? Has anyone else experienced any of the same? I'm probably being paranoid, but need reassurance this is common and you to move on. I've almost started questioning if this was right...

    8 Days Post Op And...

Yes, it still occurs....occasionally. Definitely one bite to many causes it. Only last seconds but I try not to get to that point!
  3. Wow...I sure hope that you did not take my previous post as being judgmental or critical. Obviously we're all here for the same reasons. However, after reading all this my reasons may now include humor. I mean really...people have various ways of being supportive whether its telling what didn't work for them or what their MD or NUT or whoever has instructed them since there are sooo many opinions of whats right and true. I would never post something unless I was told my my healthcare team and would never cut someone down. Furthermore, I am a professional as well and do not see where that matters at all.
  4. Just go slow. I'm 8 weeks out and can tolerated carbonate drinks fine but choose not to have them. I was told to let drinks like that sit and go flat before drinking. Its all about the bloating and stretching. So...if you need it, well, drink it just ever that once you start and realize u can tolerate its VERY easy to continue and try even more next time. We've taken a huge risk in having surgery to screw it up and not get full benefit! Good luck!

    Tired Of Trying

I feel the same way sometimes...my expectations would be that more people would respond. Guess that's part of it tho. I don't always get a chance to log in everyday and I figure that may be the case with many. I have the my fitness pal and would love to have others join me but not sure how all that works!

    Bubbles After The Sip

I still have that at 5 weeks out. I burp constantly when I drink. Try taking smaller sips. I have what feels like a huge bubble in my chest after taking bites at times also. My surgeon said its completely normal and will go away although not everyone experienced it.

    Sleeved On June 21St

Soreness is much better a week out, but improves daily! Walking does help a lot also. I was instructed to get 40oz water in daily for the first week and then start protein. Your pouch will start to take in more as the swelling decreases. I'm almost 5 weeks out and basically no pain just an occasional soreness. I actually went back to work a week afterwards. Good luck!

    Any Creative Ideas?

I wish I didn't get hungry...for me that was one of the perks of having the surgery. Unfortunately, I am in the 10% who DO get hungry and that happens every 2-3 hours. The water and protein seem to be hard for me to, regardless. Hang in there..I tried to do shakes in am and before bed and sip water all day. I'm currently being terrible at getting both in...prob because I haven't lost n almost two weeks and to only be 5 weeks out its depressing. However on the flip side I did loose 28# so far...sure good there's more to come!

    Stall

I'm 4 weeks post VSG and have not only stalled but seemed to gain a pound or two. I'm sure it must have something to do with the fact I'm able to eat solid foods better now AND I started my cycle but I'm very frustrated. I am constantly on the scale which I know is terrible but could I really not loose anymore?! I sure would hate to think I've made such a dramatic decision for 30 pounds. :discouraged:

    Is This Normal?

I drank lots of really warm chicken bullion (sp?) for the first 6 days with caffine and sugar free tea or grape crystal light. I also walked like crazy day and night because I could not drink sitting. (Family history of blood clots so I was terrified of having one!) May want to try something with more flavor and sipping while standing. Hope that helps!
  11. I went back exactly a week afterwards...Tuesday actually. I have a very high paced job and on my feet all day. I'm very exhausted in the mornings and haven't figured out why that is but afternoons are fine. I would think everyone is different for sure. My doc said no lifting heavier than gallon milk for 2 weeks then not over 25 lbs for another two weeks. Good luck!
  12. I'm not sure which date to go by... Pre-op 5/17 Day of surgery 5/22 Down 17 lbs since preop
  13. I was sleeved 5/22. My pain lasted prob 4 days that was intense at times. I literally wrote down everything I did and took my pain meds every four hours during that time. I now at 9 days out an almost completely pain free. One incision on my left is still sore, like a bruise. I walked so much the first couple days my legs hurt, and my husbands from being up with me in the hospital. The gas and bloating was by far the worse to me. I'm glad yo say that now, its much better and yours will be to just give it a few more days. Don't be afraid to take your meds either...once pain gets bad its hard to manage. You'll notice you don't need as much or that u can space longer intervals. Just a couple more days. Good luck!!

    8 Days Post Op And...

I am a recovery room nurse, very hectic and on my feet all day, so yes, work he's been challenging but no more so than everyday life at home with four kids. Afternoons I feel totally normal, soreness is basically gone at this point also. I love what I do and guess that has helped ease that transition. I guess for me when I ask about "normal" was referring to eating again. I have difficulty getting down things like mashed potatoes....causes discomfort in my chest. I'm hoping that feeling does het better and wonder what causes it. Guess more than anything needed.someone to say they have experienced the same issues and yes...they all resolve. Thanks for all the input!

    Odd Post Surgery Things

The scraping in your throat may also be caused from intubation, the airway you had during surgery. That shouldn't last but a couple days if so.

    Whats In Your Sleeve?

Breakfast - 6oz far free milk with Protein Lunch- broth fro dumplings Supper- protein shake again soon I've only gotten in 1+ bottles of Water today. Not feeling to great
  17. Surgery 5/22 now on full liquids. I have tried a couple things that seemed to work good for me. Fat free sugar free pudding for a sweet tooth, which is legal!. I have also dipped my finger in dumpling broth and marinara. Is that cheating?? Maybe so, but it satisfied the desire for that food and it wasn't enough to swallow. Hopefully things will start looming up for you soon. Hang in there, our results are so worth it!!
  18. I am 6 days post op and can say today that pain seems better. Large sips, sips taken to close and cold drinks made mine much worse it seems. I, like you, seem to have lots of swelling to the point I could only sip if I was standing and was still uncomfortable the first couple days. I hope it gets better for you soon.
