I just got this email from Cibo Dear CIBO Patients, Over the past few days we have tried to contact CIBO Patients. We are very saddened to announce that CIBO Clinic has been forced into receivership. Due to financial difficulties, we are no longer able to operate. Due to the unfortunate closure of the clinic a number of former staff members have voluntarily banded together to help provide care for the patients they serviced while employed by the clinic. Staff members are acting on their own accord, apart from previous management, to provide these additional services because they care. Patients should know that despite CIBO’s closure you are not “Orphaned” as some of the other clinics have led some of you to believe. Your surgeons are still available and responsible for your medical care. As you will read below, there is support being planned for you. We appreciate your support and patience while we “set things up” but wanted to provide an outline for your information. Medical Care Dr. Dennis Hong and Dr. Nalin Amin are still in charge of your medical care in the event that you experience complications or are in need of band related medical care. The emergency line is still active to support you at 647-297-8044. Dr. Hong and Dr. Amin operate out of St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton, ON. Patient Information - Google Docs We will be setting up a calendar and other materials and resources for your care on Google Docs. You will need a Google Gmail Account and we ask that you set one up and email it to us at ¬¬¬cibopatients@gmail.com. You will then be added to the group. Fills In-Town Patients Under the direction of Dr. Hong and Dr. Amin, fills will be provided in the short to medium term free of charge. The cost of these fills will initially be covered personally by your doctors. The location(s) will be determined shortly. We will be posting on the central calendar the location(s) and dates as they are determined. We will also be available onsite to provide guidance for patients requiring advice on fill volume and other band related issues. Out-of-Town Patients There will be minimal changes to the protocol for obtaining a fill. We are available to provide guidance for patients requiring advice on fill volume. Please email for direction. Patients will be assuming the cost for these fills. Post-Operative Care Patient support will be available and group support meetings are being organized in conjunction with fills. Nisrine will continue to provide patient care support. You can reach her at cibopatients@gmail.com Dr. Jennifer Walsh remains available by email if you need support. You can reach her at drjenniferwalsh@gmail.com Emergency Line – 647-297-8044 At the moment our biggest obstacle is finding appropriate locations. If you have access to a location free of charge please let us know.

I got the email that everyone got and very frustrated I replied and got a response last nite from Nisrine something about the bank went in and locked them out when they arrived at work. The surgeons and staff are working on organizing something on a voluntary basis for aftercare to continue to support patients free of charge. She said to give them a few days to work things out...

I can't believe it....so totally unfair that we are left hanging like this...I got my band last July and I have been trying to contact them for a few days for a fill....the cost of the surgery included lifetime support such BS

Hello everyone I have been very lazy in reading and posting here....I haven't had a fill for quite some time as I too have issues alot of days with things getting stuck....I try to follow what I have learned I take small bites but I have had yogurt get stuck which is crazy but mornings and later nites are the worst for me....I generally don't eat bread but yesterday I was able to have a small grilled cheese sandwich....strange...being stuck really sucks but hubby is used to it now...and understands thankfully I plan on having another fill in 2 weeks....just because if I eat soft food....I can eat more then a cup... Have a great weekend

Ok I know I have googled this...and ppl encounter this however I don't understand why sometimes I eat something and all is good....then I eat the exact same thing and I can't swallow all I get is this foamy Phlegm. It is especially disturbing when I am out....I just need to know that I am not alone.... I went to my surgeons to get a fill yesterday and told the nurse and she didn't know what I was talking about...it isn't throwing up...I just eat and all of a sudden nothing will go down cause my throat is full of Phlegm. Please tell me I am not alone....and I am normal...I had my surgery on July 9th and I am down 44 lbs....I am not watching what I eat just the amount as my clinic wants me to think of it as a life style change not a diet....and they encourage full fat foods... Help me feel like I am normal .

Slimed; What is it???
taylor94 replied to Patti.Ramsey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG I am so happy I found this....I have been Sliming for about a week now....one day I can eat no prob....then another day....can't....especially at a wedding or restaurant....it is so embarrassing.... now I wonder if the phlem is due to NOT eating at regular intervals...for instance I get busy I have a Protein shake for Breakfast usually around 11am...(weird hours I keep) then I don't eat lunch...and then dinner at 6pm....hmmm gonna try to eat regular meals to see if this helps -
I also had a horrible "stuck" unfortunatly it was at a wedding....I literally had 3 pieces and very small of ravioli and chewed very well....and when I say small my sisters were eating like 5 at a time. Then came the chicken....I had 2 small bites of chicken and 1 bite of potato and I was done....felt like something was sitting on my chest....and had to eventually go back to my room and ended up spitting up everything...no vomit really but I guess a productive burping...after about an hr....from start to finish...it really is a horrible feeling....
-
No machine....he just kept pushing till he found it....and I am also bruised...I could hear the needle clicking on the outside of the band....which was a bit freaky.... I mean it is only 6wks after surgery so as long as the #'s go down...no matter how slow....that's all that counts
-
thanks Melissa....I have been stuck at that weight for well over a week now...however when I was in for my fill the clinic did tell me that I am losing weight really fast...I have never had anyone say slow down on weight loss... my surgeon had so much trouble with finding my port I am fearful he missed and the swelling is just saline build up...however he did poke me like 5 times before finding it...so maybe that's why...I am going to wait a few more days and if the swelling doesn't go down I will insist on going to see someone...I mean I do feel the restriction a bit...and I don't feel hungry at all...no grumbling stomach...this is all just so new to me...kinda freaking out I will mess it up I am a self pay and it was alot of money to pay to mess up... fingers crossed
-
Melissa I am wondering if you have any swelling where your port is? mine is protruding quite a bit and I had my fill 2 days ago....
-
hello everyone.... OK had my first fill yesterday....I have a 9cc band and got 3cc's added I am on liquid yesterday and today.... I went swimming with my friends kids yesterday for a few hrs....and I woke up this morning and my abs are killing me....I don't know if it is due to the fill or swimming I do have a small bruise where the surgeon was poking but I am hoping someone can tell me that the fill will not cause pain then I can relax knowing it was prob the swimming and playing with the kids.... I hate being on liquids only
-
Hello everyone.... So today was fill day first one too....didn't eat before I went....and didn't wait long the surgeon said everything looks good and that my liver was great during surgery....then I got up on the table and he proceeded to poke and poke and this went on for about 10 mins....he finally got it....geez....now my clinic makes you drink 2 dixie cups of Water before leaving....just to make sure not too full...I have a 9oz band and he put in 3oz.... WOW I can totally tell the restriction....so yes on liquid for today and tomorrow then mushies on Wed....but drinking...I am totally full....I can so tell.... Now I have lost 34lbs and the clinic says I am loosing too fast...can you believe that? I haven't really moved down in about a week and I was getting discouraged guess I was wrong...I have never been told to slow down losing weight....I was wearing a 24/26 now I am in 18/20 and just into that size...

104Lbs? You Should Be Losing That In Like 4 Months.
taylor94 commented on RahRahRah's blog entry in Hurry Up and Wait
totally sucks...I had the same issue....I am a self pay and we had the money and wasn't going to break our bank account I spoke to my husband about surgery back in March and he dismissed me saying you lost weight before you can do it again (husband is thin and never has been overweight) so I listened to him back in march...however after doing more research I booked and paid for the surgery without telling him in May was banded on July 9th let me just say that it was a rocky road after I booked he told me he was leaving me and we didn't speak for a week or so....however we ended up going to marriage counselling and it helped him understand that I am old enough to make decisions for myself and he has been nothing but supportive but took 6 weeks before surgery for him to come around....I love him more and more each day.... -
I think one is fine....the "rules" are not to use all the time

How Long After Surgery Was Your 1St Fill? How Many Cc's And Did It Work? Weight Loss 1St Month Post Op?
taylor94 replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello those are great questions....I was banded on July 9th and get my first fill tomorrow I have a 9cc band...surprising that my surgeon went with the small one. I started my pre op on June 25th and as of today I have lost 34lbs....I lost 19 pre op and alot of weight the first week after being banded as I wasn't eating couldn't keep anything down for 4 days....not even Water....I can eat most everything now....actually went out for dinner last nite and ate prob 1/4 of 10oz of prime rib ate very very slowly nothing is worse then being out in a restaurant and getting stuck believe me happened to me a week ago...was a horrible experience.... I will post how much goes into my band tomorrow and enjoying food today...liquids for 3 days as of tomorrow -
I had my surgery on July 9th and almost 1 month in I am feeling great down 34lbs but I can totally feel restricted without a fill....so I do really have to watch what I eat and when....the stuck feeling is horrible....especially if I am not at home....having to excuse myself to spit it out....
-
Oh Kim I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I would suggest trying gatorade to help with getting your electrolites back and if you find it too strong Water it down....ice or popsicles....it goes down slow but at least you are getting some liquid....juice is good cause then you are getting some sugar....meaning a bit of energy....do not worry about the calories at this time it is all about healing...I ate alot of butternut squash soup...smooth but hearty and yogurt especially greek yogurt....great Protein Gas was bad for me too....however laying in bed is not a great idea....try just walking up and down your stairs every 30 mins....just to get stuff moving....gas x was my best friend during the gas pains. Once it starts moving it will feel better and increase your walking I couldn't do Protein Shakes at all...I had and still sometimes feel naseau....I was told that my surgeon didn't put anything in my band however I had and still have some swelling and restriction....small sips...make sure it goes down then another sip Keep in touch that's what we are here for taylor
-
hey everyone....so today is week 4 for me since banded and 6 wks since I started the pre op diet....oh those days....I get a fill next week and every 2 wks afterwards I have lost 34lbs so far I am very happy I have gone down sizes from 26/28 and now fitting into 18/20 shirts...pants are still too tight...but I am getting there...although like everyone else I would like to loose faster....but I know that the band isn't a magic pill I still have alot of restriction and don't have anything in my band yet....and if I eat too fast or don't chew it gets stuck and hurts like hell....and I sometimes have to spit is out (sorry for being gross) Lindabug....wow staples? I had disolvable stitches thankfully hope they came our painlessly WTG Melissa and Christine....as long as the #'s go down and we are feeling better all is good I love my band....I am so happy with my decision to get this done I just wish I did it 10 yrs ago... thanks for listening....
-
Hello.... My throat was dry and sore day of surgery but felt better the day after...I sucked on ice chips I am very glad that your pain is under control....walk walk walk.... I went for my post op appointment today....all is good given the go ahead to try different foods to see how my body takes...however my B12 is low and Iron is low...so I have to take supplements....
-
Hey everyone.... So I am almost 3 wks since surgery so I guess 5 wks since I started the pre op diet....I don't get my first fill till Aug 13th but have post op appt on Monday.... So I am on soft foods...and well doing well I don't throw up but if something gets stuck and I had a couple days right after surgery that I wasn't able to keep anything down....however on Wed...I had 4 small pieces of watermelon...and 1 piece of shrimp...thinking all soft...and well watermelon is mostly Water right?? How wrong was I and unfortunatly I wasn't home....so I had to keep excusing myself to go and spit it all up....I didn't eat fast I chewed well... So I guess those are off the list for now....I know the clinic suggested that I was prob really swollen after surgery but I haven't had a prob with anything I do eat ALOT slower... Also does anyone else have issues with the port area? sometimes the area seems to be extended out...and other times its not....incisions are all healed...and I swear I can feel the port... I tried to add a ticker so hopefully it worked....good job everyone....we are all gonna be so healthy and skinny....
