    April Sleevers

So glad to see everyone with great weight loss. I was sleeved April 16 start weight 281 current weight 206. I have been stalled for the last week. Hope to get moving again soon. I can't wait to be in the 100's
  5. So I don't notice the difference most of the time until I put on clothes that no longer fit. However when I look in the mirror I still look at myself and see the fat girl. I am a nurse and have had to finally go get new scrubs because the old ones were falling off me. When I did this I thought I only went down one size and no I went down two. I am 4 months and a week post op. i have lost 72 pounds and so close to being in the 100 mark. I have struggled at times with eating. I have not had any trouble eating anything. Nothing makes me sick to my stomach or har the runs. Sometimes I wonder of this is all really true and if they really did the surgery. And then I take the one bite to many and it hurts. At that point I know it is really sleeved. I dance hula and have fr about a year. I danced it at 281 pounds and am still doing it now at 210. We had a big performance this past weekend and I really noticed for the first time I am skinner. I have to day this is definitely a journey I thought I was ready for but realized that it has so many challenges that I wasn't expecting. Or example gettin my water In when I'm working out or dancing and am completely thirsty and water is not helping it. So some things I have learned. • don't overeat at any time it hurts real bad • work out and it helps with the skin mine is going in not fast but it is. • don't do it the wrong way. Follow your surgeons plans and diet they have to for a reason. I have a friend that did the sleeve and then took diet pills to loose it faster and didn't work out. But followed the diet and lost 150 pounds in 10 month but has a ton of excess skin. • no matter what you see the people around you notice even if they don't say anything. • the best feeling is know that this saved the rest of your life. • when you put on clothes 2 sizes smaller you will feel amazing. Especially when you haven't been that size in years. I hope this helps some one. I read a lot of post on here and don't respond a lot but I have gotten a lot of positive feelings form them. And know that I have done the right thing and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for taking the time to read this. One year ago at a performance This past Saturday

    4 Months Out

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I agree that I see my face is smaller and my husband says my breast are smaller. But I still don't see it. I think I am just having one of those weeks were I'm pretty down. Nothing seems to fit me. My closet is empty. Food nothing sounds good to eat. Maybe its my new way of deali g with stress. But I normally feel amazing and love the new me. Jut can't wait for the end of my journey. But I really appreciate all the great comments.

    Night Shift

Bethnc1970- I eat a lot of beef jerky now. But when I was on soft or puréed I would make my meals and put them in small containers and take them. I still am struggling to get my protein in. But that is all I eat at work. I take left overs from dinner or frozen hamburger patty and eat half at one sitting then the other half at another. Thing like that.

    Night Shift

Ready4success- returning back to work depends on person to person. I have an amazing crew of co workers that understood that I couldn't do heavy lifting, like pulling patients ect. That is the only reason I was able to go back to work that soon. Thanks for the complement. I feel that if you have the want bad enough you will make it work for you. I do not use energy drink or coffee. I think my workouts in the morning help.

    Night Shift

Hello all. I am a night shift nurse in the ER. I went back to work 1.5 weeks after surgery. I Was skewed in April 16. I starting weight was 290. Now weighing in at 226. I and super happy with the results. I have a cup of Water at my desk full at all times. Every time I walk by I take a sip. Thy helps with hydration. Also after every assessment or procedure I take a sip. Now there are some nights that get super busy with traumas that prevent that. But I am able to most nights. Also I work 11p-7a monday through friday. So I eat a meal right before I go in and then eat something small Protein at about 1-130. Then again at 3-330 again at 5-6. Then I I also go to the gym right after I get off Tuesday through Saturday. I have a very busy evening life withy daughter and myself dancing so I get roughly 5-6 hours. But have a lot more energy now than before. Hope this helps. Sorry this is so long Before Current
  13. Sorry guys my husband got on and thought it would be funny to write something.
  14. I have found that milk of mylanta works. It is horrible tasting but I take it 2-3 times a week and have a good sized bm each time. Never feel backed up or anything.
  15. I know the same feeling I am 8 weeks post op and I stalled at 4 week out for 2 weeks. Did you take measurements before surgery. The one thing I noticed was that when I was stalled I was loosing inches. Didn't loose pounds but lost inches. Then I started eating 5 small meals per recommendation of my doctor and the ponds starte falling off again. So I know how frustrating it is and how you feel. I thought I was doing something wrong and that I had done this for no good reason. It will get better, your body has to catch up to the weight Loss.
  16. I get the hiccups randomly and get them for about one minute or so and them they go away. I am 7 weeks post op. I just don't know if it is normal to get them has any one else had this issues.

    Tmi Bowel Movement

I was also sleeved on April 16. I have had the same issue. My doctor told me to use milk of mylanta twice a week to keep me regular for a while until I am able to get more fiber my system. It is horrible tasting but it helps. And it is not as painful as stool softners. Stool softners make me cramp and it is super painful.

    Back To Work

Good luck on yor first day back to work. I am a nurse in the ER. I took one week off and hen went back. I also work over night. Make sure you have a glass or bottle of water and every time you get a chance drink a few sips. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated. Also remember you can not eat as fast as you use to. Those were a few things that I ran into when I went back to work full time. Hope your shift ones well.

    Menu

I am 7 weeks post op and still stress over what I eat. I have a friend that is a year post ip and she says he no longer stresses. She still has 50 lbs to loose to meet her goal weight and she is still on track. She says for every three bites of protein she eats one bite of a vegetable. When's she is full she is full and stopes t that point She is alwus telling me that it get easier as the time goes on The main thing that bothers me is that I waste so much food because I can no longer eat it. I stick to protein now because I struggle to get enough in.
  22. Most of the time I find that when I think I am hungry it is when I am board. At this point it is hunger head and not actually me being hungry. It is more that I just want something to do and that s what I use to do. When they removed the portion of your stomach it take the place the secreats the hormone to tell you that you are hungry. I do remember feeling extremely hungry after I had my surgery and was on clear liquids, but that passed after I started to eat pureed foods. I now do not ever feel hungry and have to make sure I eat. I have set times and I eat at those times and that is it. I am still currently on protein drinks and take in half of my protein that way, my doctor did say that I will not be on them forever but need to until I can take in enough protein. just remember to eat protein first and then if you have space eat other healthy things. and alwyas carry a bottle of water with you and sip sip sip. this will help with the hunger. Lacianne
  23. Hello I am also new to the site. Had my surgery on April 16,2012. But have found that many times it is a matter of what I am eating or how fast I eat that makes it hurt. Are you staying with in the 2-3 ounces of Protein or food that you are eating? If you are then it might be how fast. I know that if if I stay within that limit of food intake but eat it with in 15 mins it hurts but info take the 30 or longer it doesn't hurt. If this is not the case I would call your surgeon and ask. Hope this helps some. Lacianne
