The girls at work will notice the weight loss, and of course the change in my meals, my boss suggested I just say yeah I'm on a diet, exercising and getting healthy and leave it at that. That is what I will do. I'm with you, I don't need to hear anything negative, just support my decison and wish me well...it's not that hard to live and let live.

Exactly, we have someting every month, and it;s always centered around food.

Wheres My June Bandsters??

My big day is June 20th -
We have a lot in common, I have not told many people about my surgery, just my immediate family and my closest friend. I also have a big family event just 3 days after my surgery, I thought about waiting but decided against it, maybe I'm being selfish...I just don't want to wait. My Dr. gave me a book as well, and as much as hubby hates to read...we are going to read it, even if I have to make it a bedtime story LOL! I love that this site has blogs, I've always had writing as an outlet and it helps me, especially when you have support as we do here. Good luck and keep updating:)

Where It All Begins...a (Re)Introduction Of Sorts...five Years Later

What a well written entry, I can't wait to read more. Hugs! -
I meet with the surgeon today, 2 1/2 hours from now to be exact, not that I'm anxious or anything . How do I feel? mostly excited, with a bit of "am I really doing this???" here and there. I feel as if I have been researching for years, but I've only been serious about it since a month ago. At first I thought I would have the Gastric Sleeve, very drastic yes, but I felt like I had to have something drastic to get and keep control. The more I read about the band, the more I saw it as the one for me...so here I am. Mentally I am ready to have surgery tomorrow, but I think physically I need to get prepared and take the time the surgeon will probably suggest. I can't imagine what it will be like to be off the 5 meds. I take to NOT control diabetes, I think that will be amazingly freeing.

Way to go!

Thanks Alicia, I will consider myself successful if I can just get off my meds. or at least most of them.

What Do You Wish You'd Known?

Jim, a friend who was banded a year ago said the same thing, the band won't keep you from eating 1000 calorie milkshakes, it's all up to us to use the band. -

Whoa! that's good to know...I usually eat yogurt when I'm on Antibiotics to reduce the yeast infection risks, hopefully I can do that this time also. Good idea about waiting to buy foods...thanks so much!!! -

Thank you MdGardengirl. I will try to remember " this is Life, not a Race!!" when I get in a rush, or start comparing myself to others and their progress. -
Thank you for sharing that, I completely agree with the minor inconviniences being worth it, to have a better quaility of life.

Hi! I have a consultation tomorrow so I am doing as much research as possible, I keep reading about shoulder pain post-op. Can someone tell me what the cause is, and how long does it last? Also, if you can suggest any questions I might need to ask, I have a list but just in case I've over looked something, I'd appreciate any input. Thanks so much!

It's good to know, I read part of the book my surgeon gave me, and it talks about the pain too so I am expecting it.
