Good luck, wishing you a smooth surgery and recovery, keep us posted!

Ditto on the above post. My body hangs on to water, any bit of salt I consume can stall the scale. That has always been the case for me, and even now four moths post-op, if I indulge in just a few crackers I will not be happy with the scale, this is no fun for a crunchy-chipaholic.
-
At three weeks post-op you are still healing, my surgery was four months ago and I still have quite a bit of tenderness around the port area, it varies in intensity depending on how much I do physically. Give yourself time to heal, don't worry about the scale as much (I know, I know...).

WOW!! You are rocking the band since 2007? go you!!!

My Doctor has a great hand for fills, just a tiny stick and no pain at all. I was nervous my first time, but the second time I relaxed and it went well. The pre and post fill Flouroscopy (SP?) takes longer than the actual fill.
-
Mine says liquids for 24 hours after a fill, but I usually go two days on liquids...cause I'm a worry wort.
-
I took a week off, but my first two days back I only lasted half a day. My recovery was not as smooth as some I've read about here. You'll know by how you feel on day three, the first two days in my opinion were the hardest.

I Dont Need To Be Criticized
sissy12 replied to futuresize8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We all get a do-over each day. Next time you get weak, and we all do, just think about the fact that your Doctor wants you on mushies to help you heal correctly...not punish you. Don't be so hard on yourself, just dust yourself off and look forward. -
I made it somewhere I thought I would never be again, and saw a number I thought I'd never see at the beginning of my weight. ONE!!! I made it to ONEderland this morning, and even though I expected it to be there since I was 201 yesterday it still shocked me...I carefully stepped off the scale, grabbed my phone, stepped back on and snapped a picture. I am so proud of this picture, it's like a badge of honor. I did it, and I am so thankful!

I agree, we all lose differently. I seem to lose weight quicker than inches...I don't exercise enough, and I know it.

icestorm- I am between a 16 and 14 in the Plus sizes, I carry my weight around my mid section, if it wasn't for that I would be a 14. My clothes are getting very loose, and I've done a lot of purging of Fall and Winter clothes I had from last year, when I got them out I knew they would not fit and it was fun trying them on and seeing how big they were on me now! You'll get there too!

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your support!

*pat* Thanks!

Patty, It's normal to be confused, scared and many other things. The support of your family is a big part of your success, but there will always be those who can be a bit negative for a number of reasons. I chose to only tell a handful of people about my surgery, I didn't want negative comments or people offering "advice", I'm very happy I've kept it quiet. You will find so much information and support here, I don't know how I would have gotten through the tough days without this forum, and of course my successes have been even sweeter. Keep us posted!

Wheres My June Bandsters??
sissy12 replied to mcuevas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my second fill today. I've lost 34 lbs. since my surgery on June 20. I'm two lbs. away from being under 200 So happy to see everyone's progress! -
I thought I'd update, work and life have been busy, I think the last time I blogged here was right after my first fill, and I have my 2nd one in five more days. I've lost 34 lbs. since my surgery at the end of June. My struggle with exercise is an on-going thing, I just can't get myself to just do it. Eating is easier as in I don't do a lot of it, I don't think about it much and when I do it's because I have to go out to eat. That has always been the hardest for me, making good choices when I'm looking at a menu and then at other people's plates is HARD, but I'm doing it. Last week at a birthday dinner I had a salad...actually it was lettuce and dressing...because everything else on the menu was not for me. Everyone else enjoyed the family style feast of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, BBQ chicken, baked beans, buttery green beans, chicken fried steak and biscuits...that was like my own version of hell for about two hours, but I did not put a single "bad" thing into my mouth. While everyone left there stuffed and feeling gross, I left with a happy tummy and a happy heart. When I got home I had a little grilled chicken, and it tasted amazing. Another victory...I'm thankful.

How Important Is Your Bmi?
sissy12 replied to sissy12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much for that link! -
I was updating my tickers and I noticed that the number I'm shooting for as my goal weight, still leaves me with an "Overweight" BMI. So...I'm wondering how you all feel about the BMI factor.

Good advice Floridays, and I have seen many on LBT that go past the initial goal weight -

No, we have not talked about a goal weight. We have talked about about how much he feels I will lose, and that it will be enough so I can get off of most the medication. -
I'm 11 weeks post-op and had my first fill today. I think the timimg was perfect as I was getting a little grumpy about having lost ONLY 26lbs. Hearing my Doctor tell me that I am on target with the loss and even past his expectations so far, really helped me. I think we all play the comparison game, we know or read about someone who has lost more weight in the same amount of time and it bothers us, at least that's how I feel some days. 26 lbs. lost in 11 weeks, no fill at surgery and no fill until today...not too shabby I say. I need to remember that I have lost a lot of weight, that if it wasn't for my band and my hard work I would still be carrying around a toddler.
