I went for a seven day cruise in June so that was about 9 mo post op. Was a struggle since it was a secret from my family and still is. At meals I would order stuff that sounded small, normally fish and would take desert to the room for a late snack since unable to eat it at meal time. The server made a comment that I don't eat much so I told him to hush to not make it obvious. I'm broke so while the family (parents, siblings) was at over priced tours at stops I used that time to swim since I knew they wouldn't see scars if they were off the boat. I did some walking at the stops and had some drinks. Being relaxed and off of work I was in the mood for lots of sex so found 7 guys mostly in vancouver the day before and night after but did hook up with a singer from another cruise line in the bathroom of a local bar. So that and taking the stairs rather than elevator was good for wieght loss. I was afraid I may have gained but ended up losing 3 lbs from the trip. I also had plenty of drinks (2 or 3 per day which is a lot for a goodie goodie guy like me) and didn't bother me at all but I know they were loaded with calories. So unless you are wanting to hide it from people which is tough the cruise should be no big deal. I did have lots of bathroom issue the 1st 3 months with things being loose so I would avoid travel during that time though. Now it seems things get backed up so travel not an issue for me at least.

Not 1 person has told me it looks like I've lost weight! I'm sad :(

And not sure why there is a line through all that. -

I think people are more likely to say it to a guy. Although you seem to like comments, women often don't. I personally get annoyed when people say stuff because I don't know if they know what I did and don't want them to know. Boils down to who cares. -
I think people can vary and doctor can take more or less out based on each case. I can eat a lot. I eat a Taco Bell beefy crunchy almost daily for lunch. Bad I know. But that is about what I can take for size. Weight loss has slowed but now am having to try more to lose and avoid snacks. I just went on a 7 day cruise and was able to eat with the family and it wasn't obvious during meal that i had surgery so am happy about that. I fear gaining weight. A guy I know had a bypass and later a sleeve and is still or again rather 100 lb over weight. Another friend had bypass and is 50 over weight up 75 from low as he was 25 under normal at point. A girl I work with had same doctor and did it in November and still can't eat but a half slice pizza and doctor is concerned that she has already lost 130 lb since November and looks thin but gross. Moral of story if you can eat a lot be careful what you eat so you don't gain. And if you can't eat much eat a bit more often and get nutrition in. Just because the answer on what you are able to eat Is different from someone else doesn't mean something is wrong.

My Suggestion-Stop The Obsessing. Rules Are Meant To Be Broken
fatiniowa replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really think I must have stretched my stomach because I really can eat a lot. After reading stories pre op I am rather shocked at what I can pack away. The first few months post op I paid less attention to self control as I figure the limitations from the surgery would replace self control. Now I am finding I can eat as much again (maybe not as quickly) as I could pre op. I do wonder if the doctor didn't cut out as much as other patients since I wasn't super fat. I had to gain 15 lbs to get big enough to have insurance to help pay for it. Doctor said he took 50 to 60% off my stomach and have heard other people say it is size of an ink pen which can't be the case for me. -

I'm curious how much of the originals wieght was lost the 1st 90 days. I had mine done about the same time as he did and have similar results. Although all but 5 pounds were lost the 1st 90 days and the 5 lost since then were due to food poisioning from a baconator that gave me the poops for 2 weeks solid. I felt like the rules were being over done and I did nothing by the book. I ate popeys the day before surgery, only rule followed was not to drink anything after midnight the night before. Surgeon said I was one of the most easy guys he has ever done. Post op was able to chug 3 oz of water but not able to eat much, although i did eat solids really soon after. I think I might have stretched my self out. I can eat half a large pizza, had 3 donuts saturday. Prolly eating 3000 plus calories a day much like pre op. So no wonder I am no longer losing wieght. In fact I fear gaining some back. Point is you don't have to follow the rules, but doing so is wise. 2 girls that I work with follow rules better and were done after me and have both lost 90 pounds already. So it depends on what results you want. I want to lose more but also love junk food. Need to change my mindset. -
I wonder if the original poster ever pooped.

Great work on 95 pounds lost! How long ago did you complete the surgery? No I have not been taking any heart burn medicine as I have not had heart burn since then. I was unaware that it helped with hunger.

"mexicans Kidnap Americans. There Is A War There"

'There is as much violent crime or more in most major U.S. cities than in Tijuana.' I reread this, I think people read this backwards. This says TJ is safe. -

I went to TJ 2 months ago to buy drugs and go to the clubs. The worst thing that happened to me was that locals pretended to be my friend so I would buy them drinks, I fIgured out they were using me so I ran away lol. Also once you get out of the area where the clubs and street vendors are it can get scary at 3 am. Since you wont be doing any of this you will be just fine. Best tip is to avoid drinking much fluid before you head back as the line to go back is really long and light on restrooms. I think the crime is closer to the El Paso border. -
Great!. I am at 6 months now and down about 50 pounds. I have not lost anything since Christmas though, eating bad. So my insurance won't cover the 6 month post op follow up so I canceled the visit. Did you do anything for the check up or did they just ask how you feel and bill the insurance company like 200 bucks for a five minute visit? Also no, I am pretty much hungry all the time, and never not wanting to eat, and I think I am choosing junk foods that I would hope will give the sh !its since I am often backed up more than pre op. Prolly eating 3000 plus calories a day so no wonder the wieght loss has stalled.

Does anyone stay at Holiday inn? It appears to be nearby and cheaper, but I know most stay at Marriott through the doctors arrangements. -
How soon I'll feel like travelling after surgery
fatiniowa replied to Harpo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For about 5 weeks I had the sh!ts really bad so you might go off food before being stuck in a seat. Other than that I doubt any big deal. People fly back home when they have it done in Mexico at less than 5 days all the time. -
Smoking and Post Op
fatiniowa replied to #Redy4chg.org's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is my understanding smoking increases risk of clots and can make your lungs have issues post op which is why many hospitals have you blow into that thing that tests your lungs ability since lungs need to recover even with out smoking. I did smoke pre op although had cut back a lot, as well as post op still try to cut back but am at about half pack a day. recently started chantix and that seems to make me cry and have strange dreams. WIll see what happens when I up the dose next week. Hope I quit. -
Most important preop question of all...
fatiniowa replied to orthoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all guys like sex! If you get all the nutrition that you need I bet you will have a similar or better sex drive that you have now. For food and feelings I do get annoyed that I can't eat much. I have found that if I over do it that I vomit. I like to dine out and the wait staff gives strange looks. An example would be that I went to Chilis last week. Had just the meat from one half of the turkey sandwich and a couple bites of the bread. Had to pack up the side and the other half a sandwich and take it home, the waitress gave a look like I got sick or didn't like the food. On the way home had to stop on the freeway onramp and vomit. Went to Texas Road house last night. Had a few peanuts and 1 chicken strip and ate the steamed vegitables. Took home the rest and with 4 strips and my other side and the bread un touched it looked like I had eaten nothing. So I get annoyed more than anything that I have to eat so little and avoid eating with family or people I don't want to know that I had this done. I met a guy at the bar and was invited out for 2 am food at the mexian restaurant. Had a small chicken quesodilla and just told him I ate before I came out and no awkwardness. So pretty much no regrets. Just be prepared people will notice you eating far less. My typical lunch is 1 chicken wrap at bk and just toss the wrap and eat the chicken. I know soda is bad but I do drink a value size small coke one or 2 times a day. You can do what you want, but for me and most people being 50 plus pounds lighter is well worth it. -
My doctor provided a what to expect book prior to op. It said will have the runs for about 5 weeks post op. I have always been a bit loose but found the 5 weeks to be right on. Was like pising out my tush. I'm not big on drugs so I just let nature take its course and drank plenty of Water. Also for me getting lots of sleep make mine looser. So when you go back to work and start getting 5 to 7 hours of sleep things might improve if you are like me. If you are backed up might try ensure with Fiber or apple cider and make sure you get plenty of water.

Appetite Back... With A Vengeance!
fatiniowa replied to LawDiva312's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about a month and a half out and can eat plenty. A kinda good thing since I don't like people to question that I now eat so little and a bad thing that I might not continue losing the pounds. Yesterday the office bought pizza for the team. I ate 1/4 of a large pizza and I also got a slice at the gas station after work. snacked on some nuts, drank a 16 oz strawbeery milk and ate a walgreens frozen meal with sorta a lot of chips. Had put on 3 lbs by bed time. Then this morning the office brought in panera bagels. I ate 1 with cream cheese in like 15 min. Although the old me might have downed 2 of them. Needing to realize that even though I can doesn't mean I should. -
Mine went well. Am down 25 lbs since oct 7th. The nutrition lady was pissy i didn't follow post op diet as I drank nesquick and moved to solid food so quickly ( like 4 days out). I also didn't follow pre op diet but they don't know that and doctor said I was one of the easist he ever did. I just made sure to be off food and drink 100% 12 hr prior to surgery. I have not told my family besides my wife and her family. Had lunch after church with my family and they were a bit suspicious I ate so light and slowly but not sure if they are suspicious or not. Have gone to the bar and night club a couple of times and it seems I got hit on more than normal. I feel really good but have learned what my max is as I vomit about 10 min after food if I eat too much. I normally eat chicken a lot now and toss the bun or wrap. I can eat about 2 snack wrap grilled chick at mc ds or bk and ate about 90% of just the middle of the chddr bacon onion grilled chicken the other day. Jack links beef jerky has lots of protien and have ate that as well. Keep some nuts in my desk at work as I get hungry quite quickly after lunch. I have heard hunger hormones go away but that is not the case with me. I feel hunger right in the belly so i know it is not in my head. Feel free to email questions but since I feel so good I don't log in much. Only concern is the cuts are still very red. Thought they would heal faster. Going on a cruise in June and had hoped i could go shirtless with no one to notice cuts. not sure that will be the case. Good luck Iowa people!!! go Cy:)

Telling Your Boss Your Having Surgery..
fatiniowa replied to MK1986's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A girl in my dept that has a different mgr told her boss and got fired for bad production. I checked her stats and they were pretty normal like mine are. Her date was 2 day after me and she went ahead with it. Im on std now and when i go back leave management require a note from doctor saying i am fit to return to work. I never told my boss what type of med leave i was on, but i am nervous since the doctor says the name of the office which includes weight loss in the title. So don't lie as they might find out. Keeping reason quite might be best. I really didnt need 4 weeks. Should have just taken a week vacation and never said anything about surgery, although not being at work is quite nice, i just fear being fired. -
i can agree with the head hunger, last night dropped by mc ds for a snack size mcflurry, ate it all and had to upchuck like 5 min after done. Also not sure what the gas is. was op on 10/8 and have a strange feeling burp here and there and feel like i fart about the same as pre op. so far no sharts either. The doc did come to my room later that day and said it went great, one of the easist he had done. guessing he say that to everyone, but was happy to hear that as i didnt follow pre op diet at all. like i ate at popeyes for lunch 10/7 (bad i know) Oh and have not taken any med, just vitamin since I got out. fun to read everyones story:) !!!

Mine was done on the 8th. got out of hospital on 10th. Feel alright, about like when I am sick, not unbearable. My poo is really dark and runny like ground up oreos mixed in water. I think this is strange since i have not had any dark liquids/ foods. Has any experienced this?

Does Anyone Else Eat As Much As Me?
fatiniowa replied to lizzybean3377@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry, I noticed gender after posted. Great job losing so much in such a short time. I hope to lose more slowly and have the sleeve limit what I can take in but not to such an extreme that it is a struggle to take in a healthy amount. I'm sure I'll do ok. Good point on how as weight comes down calories needed to maintain weight goes down as well. -

fatiniowa replied to lizzybean3377@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh my gosh people, you are making me nervous. I'm going in 7 hrs from now and seeing what you folks are having trouble eating so many months out. Like the lady that was 400 and is 275 in 5 months. my goal is to lose 75 to 125 ish. I don't count but i bet I take in 3,000 calories a day and only gain about 15 pounds a year. So im thinking after a few months I better be back up to 2000 to 2500 calories otherwise i'll become so thin I'll look unheathy. Any body able to do this? thoughts? -
