    Cruise

I went for a seven day cruise in June so that was about 9 mo post op. Was a struggle since it was a secret from my family and still is. At meals I would order stuff that sounded small, normally fish and would take desert to the room for a late snack since unable to eat it at meal time. The server made a comment that I don't eat much so I told him to hush to not make it obvious. I'm broke so while the family (parents, siblings) was at over priced tours at stops I used that time to swim since I knew they wouldn't see scars if they were off the boat. I did some walking at the stops and had some drinks. Being relaxed and off of work I was in the mood for lots of sex so found 7 guys mostly in vancouver the day before and night after but did hook up with a singer from another cruise line in the bathroom of a local bar. So that and taking the stairs rather than elevator was good for wieght loss. I was afraid I may have gained but ended up losing 3 lbs from the trip. I also had plenty of drinks (2 or 3 per day which is a lot for a goodie goodie guy like me) and didn't bother me at all but I know they were loaded with calories. So unless you are wanting to hide it from people which is tough the cruise should be no big deal. I did have lots of bathroom issue the 1st 3 months with things being loose so I would avoid travel during that time though. Now it seems things get backed up so travel not an issue for me at least.
  2. And not sure why there is a line through all that.
  3. I think people are more likely to say it to a guy. Although you seem to like comments, women often don't. I personally get annoyed when people say stuff because I don't know if they know what I did and don't want them to know. Boils down to who cares.

    Too much?

I think people can vary and doctor can take more or less out based on each case. I can eat a lot. I eat a Taco Bell beefy crunchy almost daily for lunch. Bad I know. But that is about what I can take for size. Weight loss has slowed but now am having to try more to lose and avoid snacks. I just went on a 7 day cruise and was able to eat with the family and it wasn't obvious during meal that i had surgery so am happy about that. I fear gaining weight. A guy I know had a bypass and later a sleeve and is still or again rather 100 lb over weight. Another friend had bypass and is 50 over weight up 75 from low as he was 25 under normal at point. A girl I work with had same doctor and did it in November and still can't eat but a half slice pizza and doctor is concerned that she has already lost 130 lb since November and looks thin but gross. Moral of story if you can eat a lot be careful what you eat so you don't gain. And if you can't eat much eat a bit more often and get nutrition in. Just because the answer on what you are able to eat Is different from someone else doesn't mean something is wrong.
  5. put away 200 a month for 3 years. Then go to Mexico
  6. I really think I must have stretched my stomach because I really can eat a lot. After reading stories pre op I am rather shocked at what I can pack away. The first few months post op I paid less attention to self control as I figure the limitations from the surgery would replace self control. Now I am finding I can eat as much again (maybe not as quickly) as I could pre op. I do wonder if the doctor didn't cut out as much as other patients since I wasn't super fat. I had to gain 15 lbs to get big enough to have insurance to help pay for it. Doctor said he took 50 to 60% off my stomach and have heard other people say it is size of an ink pen which can't be the case for me.
  7. I'm curious how much of the originals wieght was lost the 1st 90 days. I had mine done about the same time as he did and have similar results. Although all but 5 pounds were lost the 1st 90 days and the 5 lost since then were due to food poisioning from a baconator that gave me the poops for 2 weeks solid. I felt like the rules were being over done and I did nothing by the book. I ate popeys the day before surgery, only rule followed was not to drink anything after midnight the night before. Surgeon said I was one of the most easy guys he has ever done. Post op was able to chug 3 oz of water but not able to eat much, although i did eat solids really soon after. I think I might have stretched my self out. I can eat half a large pizza, had 3 donuts saturday. Prolly eating 3000 plus calories a day much like pre op. So no wonder I am no longer losing wieght. In fact I fear gaining some back. Point is you don't have to follow the rules, but doing so is wise. 2 girls that I work with follow rules better and were done after me and have both lost 90 pounds already. So it depends on what results you want. I want to lose more but also love junk food. Need to change my mindset.

    6 month check up

Great work on 95 pounds lost! How long ago did you complete the surgery? No I have not been taking any heart burn medicine as I have not had heart burn since then. I was unaware that it helped with hunger.
  10. 'There is as much violent crime or more in most major U.S. cities than in Tijuana.' I reread this, I think people read this backwards. This says TJ is safe.
  11. I went to TJ 2 months ago to buy drugs and go to the clubs. The worst thing that happened to me was that locals pretended to be my friend so I would buy them drinks, I fIgured out they were using me so I ran away lol. Also once you get out of the area where the clubs and street vendors are it can get scary at 3 am. Since you wont be doing any of this you will be just fine. Best tip is to avoid drinking much fluid before you head back as the line to go back is really long and light on restrooms. I think the crime is closer to the El Paso border.

    6 month check up

Great!. I am at 6 months now and down about 50 pounds. I have not lost anything since Christmas though, eating bad. So my insurance won't cover the 6 month post op follow up so I canceled the visit. Did you do anything for the check up or did they just ask how you feel and bill the insurance company like 200 bucks for a five minute visit? Also no, I am pretty much hungry all the time, and never not wanting to eat, and I think I am choosing junk foods that I would hope will give the sh !its since I am often backed up more than pre op. Prolly eating 3000 plus calories a day so no wonder the wieght loss has stalled.
  13. Does anyone stay at Holiday inn? It appears to be nearby and cheaper, but I know most stay at Marriott through the doctors arrangements.
  14. For about 5 weeks I had the sh!ts really bad so you might go off food before being stuck in a seat. Other than that I doubt any big deal. People fly back home when they have it done in Mexico at less than 5 days all the time.

    Smoking and Post Op

It is my understanding smoking increases risk of clots and can make your lungs have issues post op which is why many hospitals have you blow into that thing that tests your lungs ability since lungs need to recover even with out smoking. I did smoke pre op although had cut back a lot, as well as post op still try to cut back but am at about half pack a day. recently started chantix and that seems to make me cry and have strange dreams. WIll see what happens when I up the dose next week. Hope I quit.
