I have united health care! I work in an ER in Phoenix and I know when we have patients that have Kaiser we have to get Auth! And I only meant state because I think I don't know for sure but isn't kaiser only in Cali? If your insurance covers it you probably only need to get a referral!

Teresa555 replied to smellslikecoffee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use a machine I actually like it I have never slept better!! But I won't complain if I don't need it any longer when I get banded and lose weight!!! -
Primary care doctor and you must live on Cali right? I believe your ins is state ins correct? So I do believe you would need a referral from you pcp! I would start there and good luck

Well not really what insurance do you have? My ins requires that you have a BMI of 40 or higher or a BMI of 35 with two comorbids and I have to use an in network doctor!!

Hi I am new to this forum and to this journey! I go in on the 12th for my first consultation. My insurance does cover this so that helps! My question is, how long does this process take before you actually have the surgery and what should I expect??? Any advice or answers will help and are welcomed!! Thanks in advance!!

Surgery Date Is June 6!! Should I Tell Family??
Teresa555 replied to Lapband Maggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have told my family and close friends! But my family and friends are very supportive and excited for me and the journey I'm about to take! I say you need to do what's best for you! Any decision you make will be the right one!! Good luck!! -
I just had yearly blood work 5months ago I wonder if that will be ok and I actually got tested for h-pylori too at that time because of a stomached pain I was having but it came back negative! So I guess that leaves the psych eval :/ and whatever else! Seems like a long process but I know it will be worth it I have a husband and 3 small children who need a mom around and one that can be active again!!

Well when I called my insurance before I made my consultation they told me my insurance covers bariatrics I just have to have a BMI of 40(which mine is higher;() or 35 with comorbids which I have high blood pressure and sleep apnea. They said I am just responsible for my deductible and co ins until I meet my out of pocket and then it's covered at a 100%!! I guess I'm also wondering what kind of test the dr has you do before surgery?
