    Iron Deficiency?

Yes, I was quite anemic before surgery. Because it is laparoscopic I was told I would lose so little blood it wouldn't be problematic. I had no complications. I have read that this surgery is commonly performed on anemic patients.

    How Much Food

I am 8 weeks out. I eat an egg for breakfast, and up to an ounce and a half of meat for other meals. Each person seems to progress at their own rate. I also have part of a protein shake twice daily. It works for me. Good luck!

    What Was Your Breaking Point?

My breaking point was being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I had not considered surgery before that, but within six weeks I was sleeved. I don't consider it an elective procedure, I feel that it is saving my life.
  5. Me too!! I eat exactly as recommended, dense protein, less than 40 carbs, and still... Ravenous every two hours. I have managed to keep my calories to 600-800 but wonder how sustainable it is given my hunger. You are NOT alone!
  6. Those Bariatric Advantage vitamins are horrendous. I just can't. I too am on the gummies.

    Surgery During Your Period?

I had the same situation and it wasn't an issue at all. I too was worried! My doctor didn't use a catheter, which did make things easier. Don't worry regardless, I'm sure this comes up all the time.

    Salads

I had salad at five weeks - it was great. No problems.
  10. K, I know, we all go through stalls. Mine started after week two and is still going at week six. I feel like I'm going slowly insane. I have about four lbs in those four weeks. Overall, I've lost 25 lbs in six weeks. My current weight is 220. I track every calorie, and am always between 600-800. I get at least half an hour of exercise a day, a few days a week I get an hour or more. I drink Water - usually 7 glasses, plus one Protein shake. I take my Multivitamin. I get 65-85 grams of protein per day, aiming for the upper end. I keep my carbs around 35-40. And I feel crazy. Obsessed. I've started weighing just once a week so that the daily disappointment isn't too much. But what am I doing wrong!!! I feel like I am doing something terribly wrong for my body to lose almost nothing in a month at these restrictions. And the hunger is not helping. I am not a lucky one who doesn't have hunger. I take Prevacid twice daily for acid control. But I feel so hungry every day that it is overwhelming. I'm not fantasizing about any wonderful foods, I'm fantasizing about not feeling so hungry that I feel physically ill. Does anyone have some advice or supportive words? I'm pretty overwhelmed today! I know this was the right decision, but I'm not sure if things will ever move in the right direction.

    No Overnight Stay?

I spent the night at the clinic where I had the surgery. It would make me nervous to have no overnight care. IV pain meds, for example. Maybe I didn't really need them, but it sure was nice to have them that first night.
  13. OK, this is my first post. I had my sleeve on May 10. Everything was going pretty well, I had lost 13 lbs by the 23rd, and then four days ago the weight loss stopped. I started at 255, lost 11 lbs the week before surgery on the preop diet, and am now at 231. I have heard that people stall, but already?? I am having one Protein shake, one egg, 1/4 cup tuna, and two ounces of fish daily, plus maybe a tablespoon or two of puréed broccoli as a snack. My doctor has me on a soft food diet after the two week mark. I have not been exercising, but I have stayed active. And I drink 64 ozs of crystal light. Does anyone have a recommendation? I am feeling pretty bummed to not be making progress.

    Bcps

Does anyone know what taking BCP's does to weight loss? I started taking a continual double dose of my BCP'S so that I'm not constantly having my TOM, and have only lost two lbs in the three weeks since then. My weight loss stopped the day that I started the double dose. Coincidence?? It is totally possible that the stall is just a long third week stall, but I'm about six weeks past surgery and have basically been in a stall for three. And I'm eating my Protein, getting my Water, getting exercise, and having about 600-700 calories daily. Ideas anyone?
  16. Why? I'm a bit over a month out. I'm taking an acid blocker (Prevacid) twice daily. I'm drinking 6-7 cups crystal light and 11-22 ozs of Protein shakes. So it seems like it shouldn't be acid or thirst. I am eating about 1/4 cup three times daily, something like an egg, or baked chicken, or salmon. No room for any more food at mealtimes - I'm eating and feel fine, take a break, eat the next bite and realize I'm going to be sick if I eat any more. But i usually get in close to 1/4 cup. I have one to two Protein Shakes daily, and then a small snack like a baby bell light cheese if I don't have a Protein shake between meals. I'm getting 500-700 calories per day. I don't have diet restrictions per my surgeon at this point, but I do stick to pretty basic foods. I'm not dreaming about food I want to eat, but in between meals I get so hungry I feel ill. I'm not sure how to get in my Water, Protein drinks, meals, avoid grazing, and (preferably) avoid this uncomfortable hunger. Any ideas?
  17. I am about a week ahead of you and am having similar struggles. Yogurt and poached eggs work, tuna is iffy. I tried ground beef and it was a BAD idea even though the Dr. included it in my diet. It feels like I'll be living on this for a while. You are not alone!
  18. I had surgery May 10th. My closest guy friend has been really difficult to be around since the surgery. Every time I talk to him he takes part of the conversation and talks about what he cooked, ate, is eating, etc, and is very descriptive about how WONDERFUL the food is. Yesterday it was the milkshake his partner brought him, and did I remember how much chocolate is in the milkshake from this particular restaurant and OH! doesnt it remind you almost more of a custard than a milkshake? etc etc. This was not what we talked about before my surgery. And so yesterday I said - "could we talk about something besides what you are eating? You know I can't eat much food, let's find another topic.". At which point he told me that just be because I had ELECTIVE surgery he shouldn't have to not talk about food, and got very huffy. I'm looking for advice. Am I being unfair? How are other people dealing with situations like this? I am really struggling!
  19. I accidentally overate tonight. I am three weeks out and had one ounce of ground beef with a tablespoon of marinara, and a tablespoon of yogurt. Well, I am paying the price - I tried to go to bed and the nausea got really bad. Is there any way to feel better... Faster??? I have tried walking around the neighborhood and sitting up instead of lying down, but haven't had much relief. Suggestions? How long does it usually take to improve?
