Symptoms Anybody Have Any Of These

It may be normal not to feel well, have trouble getting fluids in, or even get a little dehydrated - but it is cause for concern and your dehydration sounds like it may be past the normal stage! Please consider going in to the ER for some IV fluids - it is NOT good for you to be severely dehydrated.

    Vitamins Make Me Vomit

Have you tried the gummy vitamins - you can get them at the pharmacy. Keep in mind though if you have become sensitive to sweet tastes this is not the solution for you!
  4. How much fluid have you been getting in in the past few days? I agree that you sound dehydrated, but it makes a difference whether you've been getting in 16 ozs per day or 50 ozs, for example. If I had been getting in only a very small amount, I would just go in for some rehydration. If I had been getting close to enough but thought I was mildly dehydrated, i would work on getting in that 64 ozs and monitor monitor monitor how I felt in case I needed to go in. Just a thought.

    Whole Or Egg Whites

I initially after surgery ate the whole egg. But then it turned out that I enjoy eating eggs - and there is a lot of cholesterol in egg yolks. I have eggs for breakfast and dinner frequently - and have thus changed to egg whites. I thought you would have to pay me serious money to eat egg whites and it turn out I can barely tell the difference.

    Antidepressants & Weight Gain

I have taken numerous antidepressants over the course of many years and have not felt they have affected my weight - although I have had other medications that caused severe weight gain. It is always something to watch for- but you may be pleasantly surprised. Also, your doctor could start you with a medication with a more appropriate side effect profile keeping in mind your specific situation.
  7. I have lost 71.8% of my excess weight at 4 month and 3 weeks. That is assuming that at 5'6" I decide to go for 145, sometimes I think that 135 is a better number - in which case I have lost 65.9%.

    Explain Your Name!

  9. Dr. Michaelson as well! I live in Wenatchee, don't really know any other sleevers over here. I have corresponded with another patient from NWWLS, he had a different doc. I have been thrilled with my results. I had surgery May 10, from 255 to 176, and still losing happily. If anyone cares to correspond or has any questions please feel free to contact me!

So - For The Guy Who Works Too Much.. Recipies?

This isn't exactly what you asked, but seems to work well for me - I don't cook very much either. I go to costco (just got back a few minutes ago!) and buy their roast chickens. They are hot, freshly cooked, and very good. I don't manage to finish the whole thing by any means, but for two days I eat the white meat for lunch and dinner. Very low calorie and high Protein. It cost just over $5. I'm sure someone thriftier than I would go on to make a chunky Soup or something of the sort... You can also get similar chickens at the grocery and it might save you time, I just have found that I really like the Costco version. As for actual cooking... I have found chicken sausages of different flavors - garlic, reduced fat jalapeño cheddar, you get the idea. And if you had a George Forman grill it would be an easy way to cook them, although the toaster oven would work too. Applegate (I think that is the brand) also has chicken Breakfast sausage in the freezer aisle. I heat up two of those and for 100 calories have a perfect quick meal. If you find yourself not eating at all for two days, try to do the minimum of getting your Protein shakes in. Good luck!
  11. I can't believe the change - amazing! You look great. At almost five months out I would say it only gets easier from where you are now, and you just feel and look better and better with each passing day. You are already really reaping the rewards of your decision. Looking good!

53; Fat And Ready For Help!

I am embarrassed to admit, but I actually cried about giving up coca cola before surgery. I was addicted, truly addicted. So I get the Dr. Pepper thing. I will say, once I went through the initial withdrawal while on the preop diet it has been easy - I can't believe I am saying that - not to go back. I do know that it would just take one sip to return to my addiction though, so never again for me! You can do this! Congrats on starting the process.

    Calories Information

I am going for 600-800 calories as well. In order to do that I eat five times per day and have at least part of a Protein Shake. I am 4.5 months out and eat about 2 - 2.5 ounces of Protein per meal, or less if I include veggies. My understanding is that eventually we may be able to fit 3/4 -1 cup in, but it is not necessarily recommended to do so depending on who you talk to. The amount of restriction long term seems to vary.
  14. Similar to many others, I see this as an opportunity to completely change my eating habits. I deny myself certain foods that I might really enjoy - but for good reason. I try to consider how they affect my health and well-being and in what way they assist me in reaching my goal. And I don't mean my goal of weighing a precise number, I mean my goal of being fit and healthy. I made very poor food choices in the past - that is how I gained a ton of weight and became diabetic. Sure, at this point I could have a few Doritos, or a little chocolate, but what about a year from now - how much more will I be able to eat then? I hope that establishing new and better habits now is what will set me up for long term success. I may not be perfect, but in my mind it is remiss to plan and intend on not creating the healthiest lifestyle possible during this time of incredible opportunity. Whatever works for you, fantastic. But as you have acknowledged it is a bit early still, and who knows if this will actually work for you?

    4 Months Later (Pics)

You are looking fabulous! What a difference. Congrats.
  16. My diabetes resolved quite quickly - at my three month checkup my doctor declared that I was in remission. Also, I have had debilitating problems with my feet that are improved to the point that I can walk for several hours. My GERD is not improved - but I had it when I was thin years ago, so I'm not too surprised. I am still holding out some hope that when I get to goal in 30-40 lbs it will magically disappear. I'm waiting to have my sleep apnea rechecked until after the first of the year when insurance will pay - I'm pretty sure I sleep better with the machine whether I need it or not!

    Eat To Fast

This is something I am not sure about. What is the purpose of eating slowly? I don't eat slowly, but perhaps I should be. I don't overeat, get too full, or take in too many calories. I eat about 700 calories per day. I eat, am satisfied after six or eight bites, and that's the end of that. I weigh or measure everything before eating.

    Cheating Already >:(

You can do this. If you have the proper foods easily available and get yourself to eat them - there isn't room left for junk! Try planning all of your meals in advance, that takes away some of the opportunity for bad choices at the last minute. And try planning some things you really like - for example, I make something I LOVE every day - 2 egg whites, 1 T. goat cheese, and five cherry tomatoes. Now, this meal is not for everyone, I get that. But the idea is that it is food that fits into my overall day and tastes wonderful.

    When Does Hunger Come Back?

I had about a four day break from hunger after surgery and that was the end of that! It isn't head hunger or acid, I just didn't lose my hunger. However, my weight loss has not been affected. I am still able to maintain my calories around 700 per day. I have lost 78 lbs since May - currently at 177. And I just have to be more careful to keep healthy snacks close at hand always so that when the hunger hits I am not surprised to find myself ravenous with no options. Raw veggies and beef jerky are lifesavers as emergency food! If you didn't lose your hunger or it returned early I think you could still have great success.

I love MFP! Please add me as well - MTMW1975 is my username. I keep my food diary open - I agree with an earlier poster who said that it is way more helpful when you can see what other people are doing too.

Please Tell Me I'm Not Done Yet!

We were sleeved on the same day. I would say that exercise is pretty important for me - I think it makes a big difference. You may have to add it in to see the scales start moving again. Also, what are your eating habits - I am eating 600-800 calories per day, 65-85 grams of protein, 20-30 grams of carbs. I have lost a similar number of lbs - I went from 255 to 177. I think that keepin those calories low, staying away from carbs, and getting in the exercise are the keys to my weight loss. You may be on a very similar plan and just in a long stall, or need to add in the exercise... hard to say without knowing the details of your approach, but those are some ideas. Good luck!
