  1. More power to you! Yes, I think your weight loss will be significantly slower - though during the first month you lost 15, where it is common to lose 20, so maybe not as slow as you might think. If I could have had this procedure done years ago, before I developed diabetes, fatty liver, loose skin, etc - I would have. Yes, it may be drastic but you know your body better than anyone. I hope you have great success.

How Long Did Your First Stall Last :(

My first stall was after my second week - and the stall lasted for almost 5 weeks. When my stall ended I lost 12 lbs the next two weeks. It all evens out, just give it time.

    235 Lbs Pre-Op Weight ....

I started at 255 one week before surgery. Did my pre-op diet. 245 day of surgery. 224 after 1 month. 215 at two months. 200 at three months. 186 at four months. 174 at five months. And still losing, of course! (keep in mind I am not a fast loser)

That is awesome. Totally incredible! Congrats, and for a very good cause.

    Sweet Tast In Mouth

The weird taste in your mouth is probably from ketosis. Watch out because your breath is probably extra special too! It seems to improve over town.
  6. It is completely normal to have a stall when your diet changes - INCREDIBLY common. Please have faith that if you stay on track the scale will begin to move again. I stalled at that same time for 5 weeks. Normal. (Frustrating. But normal) I am five months out and eat 700 calories per day. I think I moved from 600 to 700 calories around 4 months out. It should be completely unnecessary to move your diet backwards - your body just needs time to adjust.

How Bad Is My Preop Cheat?

In the grand scheme of things I would guess the diet still accomplished what the doc was hoping for. Just stay on track and be happy with your loss. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

    How Many Carbs

I work out an hour or more daily six days per week on 20-30 carbs. I did find that when I worked out for two or more hours I needed to add a bit extra. Also, my NUT told me that at maintenance I would be eating 100 or so carbs daily. It just goes to show the wide variation out there - in our bodies reaction and in what we are told by out NUTs.

How awesome! To not be recognized - that's an NSV for sure.

    Knot In Stomach

Call your doc. If I recall you posted about dehydration, didn't go in when the consensus was go in for fluids and ended up passing out and hitting your head. This is not something to mess around with. Listen to your body. There are lots of possibilities - just call or go in this time. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but you can really put yourself at risk if you don't seek the advice of a doctor - we are poor substitutes ultimately for a real medical opinion.

    The Three Week Stall????

Mine started after week two and lasted four to five weeks. I didn't lose that many inches during that time either. But when my stall broke I lost 12 lbs in 14 days and the loss has been pretty steady since then, with a few shorter stalls. Just give it time.

    Cooked Rice

I say leave the rice out - carbs without much nutritional benefit at all. Plus, if it fills your sleeve quickly and you miss out on protein that makes two strikes against it.

    "normal Life" Down The Road?

At five months out I guess you would say I am still in the obsessing phase... I figure it will take me a good year of this in order to learn my new habits and get a good feel for how I should be eating in the future and should have been eating all along. Maybe after a year or so I won't have to be looking as closely at percentages etc, but I do think this way of life will stick with me to a degree permanently. I think long term success may be dependent on it. Part of it is that it becomes more an more natural as time goes on. You know, those who have been maintaining for a long period of time would probably have the eat answer though.

    How Many Carbs

I stick to 20-30 grams of carbs per day. I think this is a fairly common number for those of us who are carb conscious. I think this is a key to my success, but there are differing opinions for sure.

    My Fitness Pal Friends Needed

I'm MTMW1975 if anyone wants to add me. I'm 5 months postop and my food journal is open so anyone can see. MyFitnessPal has been a huge tool in my success, I really recommend it - or any other similar tracking app. For those who do not have a smartphone you can also log in online and have the same experience.

    Craving Pumpkin Pie?

I'm going to try it! I don't care for the jello cheesecake mix, but I think it would still be delicious with the other ingredients! Thanks for the tip.

    Regrets

I am sorry that you are struggling right now. I think it is common to go through a difficult adjustment period in the first month or even two after surgery. You sound like you might be having a more difficult time. Have you thought about whether you might be depressed? If you are it could magnify any negatives of the transition and make it seem unmanageable. Just a thought. If you think that this might be an issue, i would start by making an appointment with your PCP, and look into finding a counselor who is a good fit. Even if you don't feel you are truly depressed, a counselor could help you with your difficulty adjusting. I think that you will find that in social situations you will be able to blend in and enjoy yourself - just give your sleeve a bit more time to heal. As others have said, focus on the Protein of any meal and you should be able to enjoy eating with others even relatively early on. Hang in there. Give yourself time to adjust to eating in this new way.

    Isopure Powder...50G Of Protein

Just remember to spread the drink out over the day - your body only can absorb something like 25-30 grams of protein at a time. Sounds good though!
