1. Is the Breakfast biscuit "Belvita" a good nutritional choice ? 2. What is the final verdict on carbonated beverages such as seltzer or mineral Water ?

Anyone else using myfitnesspal? I am looking to get some people added to my page to help with motivation. i just got an adjustment and have my lap band surgery in june of 2012. I am finally back in track and losing again and well none of my friends know about my surgery (i feel like i would be judged so i have sought support from other lap banders and my partner and family) i find that i tend to do better when i stay connected with other lap banders. My user name is velmadinkley0506.

Got a little off track-need to get back to basics

I appreciate any and all suggestions. This forum was a huge help pre-opt and post opt I think I just became complacent -
Had my surgery on June 6 and my first fill of 5.5cc in an 11cc band mid August. Show I be eating 4 ozs per meal? Or one cup per meal? I know to keep the focus on protein first. And what types of drinks are people drinking to stay hydrated. I feel like I am not drinking enough. I need an easy way to keep track of all this and get back on track.......please help
-
Bygone have any idea about how much you should be able to eat at a meal and feel comfortable with 5.5cc in a 10cc band? I was in bandster hell the week leading up to my fill and somewhat frustrated with myself bc I knew I was eating more than I should have been able to.....and my obsession over food came back so I was grateful for the liquid/mushy stage (felt like I lost a bit of control).....I have continued to lose weight and I am down 26 lbs since my surgery 6/6/12 I guess I just want to do this right

Will I always have to drink 3 ozs an hour or can I drink normally but be mindful not to chug drinks?
-
Idk I have my follow-up appt tomorrow and will ask then I was just trying to see if maybe I could get some insight from others here. I am starting to think maybe it was just for immediately following the surgery and now perhaps I am just supposed to drink at a slower pace (like envision the liquid flowing through the band opening and then not chug the drinks to give the liquid time to get through) does that make sense.

Post opt and now on solid food......anyone else having trouble tolerating red meat? Is this common?

Thanks guys I think I will try again in a few months

Officially Banded
VelmaDinkley replied to Jenn_Kacz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 6/6 and had my first bm today (small) I have to add that the day before my surgery I drank mag citrate to clean out my system (it worked) because I didn't want to worry about the possiblity of being constipated from the pain meds and having to push to hard too soon after surgery. I have also been on a clear liquid diet (one week post opt) so needless to say not much in my system. Honestly today was alright and I would suggest mag citrate the day before surgery to anyone -
Itching From Steri Strips?
VelmaDinkley replied to Mandajo111's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Funny I came across this topic a few days after my surgery one of my incision sites was itching wicked bad and my partner said that's a good sign means it is healing well when the steri strip came off slightly in the shower I had a small bister where the strip was and lots of redness.....come to find out I apparently have an allergy to the adhesive. Now I haven't had as bad of a reaction where the other steri strips are but itchiness and redness so what I was told by a couple of friends who are nurses is just apply hydrocortisone cream a few times a day and it relieves the itchiness and the redness is going away......hope this helps -
When Does The Pain Die Down?
VelmaDinkley replied to BreBre's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't tell you how nice it is to log on and see people dealing with the same issues I am having it just helps me see how others are dealing......I was banded on 6/5 and today was my first time out of the house and I might of over did it a bit. I figured I was good with no pain meds and I to went for a car ride probably only 45 mins but between the bumps and gas pain I def took some pain meds when I got home. Hopefully tomorrow is better but I def don't regret this descision to better my life. I know this is just temporary. -
I am somewhat frustrated because my partner makes the best dinners and tonight they had stir fry and I wish so ba I could have some but on clear liquids until we then mushy food for a week.....trying to stay positive and focus on the good things this will bring and to keep in mind it is only temporary.

Should I have asked my doctor for a spirometer ?

I am also having trouble sleeping I think it partly to do with pain meds (I am on liquid Percocet and ultram). I wish I had a heating pad (
