Who's out there? We don't have too long to wait!!!:clap2:
  2. 7 weeks post surgery with a 1.8cc fill in my 4cc band
  3. You're just fine! It took about 2 weeks from my surgery to be able to take a deep breath comfortably.
  4. You've lost 42 pounds in 3 1/2 months - that's something to be happy and proud of!

    Im Confused

This is a time to let your insides heal. The "pausing" of weight loss during these weeks is totally normal!

    Kiss Splenda Good-Bye!!

Splenda is horrible! While the taste is fine, even the smallest amount does very nasty things to my digestive track. That stuff is poison!
  7. My surgeon will fix a hiatal (sp?) when he goes to put in the lap band. I'd get a second opinion!

    BCBS 5year Weight History

I have BCBS in Nevada and while they wanted a 5 year history of dieting, etc., I just wrote down everything I'd tried. They never asked for proof, which is a good thing, because I don't save receipts! My primary doc also wrote a great letter about how she's watched me struggle for years as well.

    What my mother said

And this is exactly why my mother has no clue about my surgery!

    Stuck Food

So, I'm 2 weeks banded and had my first instance of stuck food today. Wasn't paying attention while I ate and took too big of a bite. Felt like a freaking flaming hot heart attack, without the benefit of dying or passing out to make the pain end! I'll definitely take away a life chewing lesson from this!
  11. Call your doc right away so they're aware, but I wouldn't think it would be a problem. I was diagnosed with a bladder infection 7 days before my surgery and I was fine

    Coffee in Bath

And here I thought the thread title was a new beauty secret! :nervous

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

I'm still tired - I definitely need to up my protein intake! I'm sore in my port area - not the incisions, but the port itself. I'm rather short waisted and so where my port is, it feels as though it's catching under my ribcage. By the end of the day I'm rather uncomfortable. I talked with Dr. Ganser about it at my post op this week and he explained that he had few options in placement, due to the short waisted thing. He wants me to wait the entire six weeks to see if when the internal swelling goes down, the port lowers and adjusts on it's own. Other than that, doing alright! Mushies are great - not too hungry! The liquid diet sucks, doesn't it?? Hang in there, it'll be over before you know it!

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

I didn't meet that requirement (it was 10 pounds for me) and Dr. Ganser never said a word. Who's doing your surgery?
  15. I'm not much of a sipper... and it's still going down smoothly
  16. I'm 9 days post op and having no problems getting my fluids in. I'm currently hooked on Propel and drinking constantly. No "stuck" feelings, it's all going down smooth.

    May 2007 Banders

Just got back from my post-op appointment. I've lost 13 pounds since the end of April! I explained to my doctor about how sore I am where my port is by the end of each day and how I feel like it's "catching" under my ribcage occasionally. He asked me to stick it out until my next appointment (June 22) to allow all the surgical swelling to resolve. He thinks once I'm healed, the port will be lower profile and lower in my torso. He said if not, he'll need to go in and move it. I've got such a short torso that he didn't have a whole lot of options on where to place it. Stupid short torso! Anyways, I'm gonna go back to work tomorrow, if only for a 1/2 day. Hope everyone is doing well!
  18. The rolling wasn't overly comfortable.. I'd hold my incisions and kind of tuck a little of the pillow underneath that side and then ease down. Once I got settled it was heaven!
  19. I used a body pillow for support and laid on my sides immediately after surgery. I'd go crazy sleeping on my back all the time!
  20. I was banded on the 7th and had fully expected to go back to work today, but I'm just not up to it. I'm hoping to be back by Wednesday now.

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

Hi Guys - Just wanted to check in. I was banded on Monday and I gotta tell you, this surgery kicked my ass! I've had several laproscopic surgeries before, always came through just fine, no gas, no pain. Not this time! Tuesday and Wednesday were the worst, with the pain and nausea. Feeling better now, just have a very low energy level. Got out of the house for a few hours today and almost passed out in Eddie Bauer! Hunger is minimal. I've been living on yogurt, soup, thinned mashed potatoes and water. It's so weird to me to not be hungry, or to be full before I'm even done eating! I'll start back on some protien shakes next week. My best to everyone!

    May 2007 Banders

Hi guys - just wanted to check in. I was banded on Monday and felt great. Tuesday, however, was a different story. The pain was intense, lots of nausea and dry heaves, also ran a high temp for about 6-7 hours. I spent the entire day questioning why I'd put my self though this! Today is much better, all that's left is the pain, which is pretty tolerable at this point. How are all the other post banders doing? And good luck to the future banders!

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

Hi guys - thought I'd check in. I was banded on Monday. Surgery was quick and easy. Tuesday, however, was pretty bad - the pain, nausea, dry heaves and fever really knocked me for a loop! Better today, just pain, but it's tolerable. Was able to get some thinned out mashed potatoes down, and am able to drink with no problems.

    May 2007 Banders

Hi guys - wanted to check in. I've been pretty sore all day, and I think this is the first time I've ever had gas pains from surgery. Been doing gas-x and am getting ready for my second dose of the liquid painkiller so that I can get some sleep. I've actually been a little hungry today. Have been eating sugar free popsicles and drinking propel. No problems swallowing at all! Even had a few spoonfuls of sugar free Jello pudding to take the edge off the hunger. Paulette - grats on getting rescheduled so quickly! Good luck to all the May 8th banders! You'll do just great!
