Who is Bill Wilson?

My guy has many guns and a concealed weapons permit. I have to be honest with you - I'm more concerned for my safety when he's carrying his gun then when he's not. I don't like that he's carrying a weapon that can be taken from him and used to kill him or me. I don't think anyone has ever been killed by my can of mace, which makes me feel more secure than his gun. I personally don't see the need for the average citizen (my guy included) to have weapons. But that's just my opinion, and that's what makes this a great country, the ability to voice our opinions!

Man I am so glad my two boys (16 & 13) don't give a flying rats a$$ about what's on their feet. If they had things their way, they'd wear their cheapie Payless sneakers until they disintegrated!

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???
NVgirl replied to Success in lapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Which support group meetings do you guys go to, if you go at all? The one at St. Mary's is closest to me (I live in North Reno).. I've been to it once so far. -
I can only input on two of the questions... Yes, I had to go through psych evaluation - frankly that's what I was most worried about. I hate people poking around in my mind! :phanvan My primary doctor has told me that she'll prescribe me "strip" Vitamins once I have surgery. She equated them to those little listerine strips you put on your tongue for fresh breath.

It all depends on your BC/BS. I have Anthem BC/BS HMO - I had to jump through the standard hoops, but was approved within 24 hours of submitting insurance. Took me 3 months from my first seminar to approval... surgery in less than 6 weeks now!

Cooking? I'm unfamiliar with this term...

The dietician that I met with did not say to give up carbs, but to, whenever possible, eat my meals in this order... protiens, vegetables, starches/carbs. Her explanation is that you need to ensure you're getting adequate protien, and with the the starchy stuff at the end of your meal, you're more likely to be full and not eat as much of it.

Awesome Lap-Band Article!
NVgirl replied to Rockn4u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the link Rocko - great information all in one place! How's the recovery coming along? -
I have BCBS in Nevada and they couldn't have been any better! Paperwork was sent to them on a Friday and approval was given that very next Monday. 6 weeks till surgery!
-
This is my .. hmm.. DSO? Dear Significant Other? At a wedding about 1 1/2 years ago.. probably the most recent thing I've got of me... I'll take a picture the day of my surgery - only six weeks away!

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???
NVgirl replied to Success in lapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'd love to! However I was working in Vegas all week and brought home a ton of 'catch-up' work that was waiting on my desk for me. Ugh! Another time, though, definitely! -
I'm not from Texas by my parents and brothers live in the Dallas area and I enjoy visiting! Welcome!
-
It's my state and my gender :welldoneclap:

Mexico doctors don't recommend the pre-operative diet (liquids only)? What's up with that?
-
one thing that I'm REALLY looking forward to post band... Being able to fit comfortably in an airplane seat and not feeling like I'm sitting in my seatmate's space! I've been flying more and more this last year for business and really dread the "squish" time!
-
What the ... hell? So, I was in Vegas the last 3 days on business and was watching some TV in my room when a commercial comes on for a local weight loss surgery center. The commercial ended with "If you're 40 pounds or more overweight, call now!" They're doing surgery on people that are only 40 pounds overweight.. What the Hell?? :faint:

I have a relunctant PCP, how can I convince her?
NVgirl replied to Annie's topic in Insurance & Financing
I too, was reluctant to involve my PCP, but had to due to insurance requirements. We've talked about my weight for years, and had a conversation about 18 months ago regarding surgery (just a general conversation, not specific about me) and she really came off as against it. Well, in January when I'd decided enough was enough, I went and saw her (expecting to really have to debate the issue) and she was 110% supportive of me, after seeing me struggle for years. So you never know! -
I would also check the ingredients of what you're having in liquids. The artificial sweetner "Splenda" aka sucralose, has that exact same effect on me, about 2-3 hours after I have something with it in it.

Good luck!!! Drop a line on the other side and tell us how you're doin'!:clap2:
