I no longer know if I'm having surgery on the 7th. I have a call into the surgeon and am awaiting a response. I was at urgent care today with a bladder infection. Also have something called mesenteric inflammation of the outer abdomonial wall. I hate today.

Well, I've finished day 7 of 14 for my pre-op. Next week is busy - pre op tests on Monday, have to go to Vegas for Tuesday-Wednesday, having a shed built on Thursday, pre op appointment on Thursday, concert on Friday, spending weekend getting caught up at work so I can be off for a week. Worked in my garden yesterday - have got pain in my lower left abdomen... hoping it's just a pulled muscle!

This is nothing more than another form of NAMBLA and it's absolutely sickening and disgusting. -
Welcome to May, Amy! You, Phuber and I are all going in the same day!

I'm scheduled for surgery six weeks from today :clap2: In thinking about the mushy stage of the post op diet, did anyone out there try baby food meats (i.e., Gerber) for the Protein, and if so, was it totally nasty, or tolerable?

I've only told two family members - one on my side and one on DH's side. I have, however, told my friends and co-workers. I find they're less judgemental than my family

I was going to get the Magic Bullet, but saw this one at Walmart. It was under $14 and it is perfect for mixing the Protein shakes! I've been using it 4-5 times a day for the last week and this thing rocks! http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-8/qid=1177815756/ref=sr_1_8/601-8626771-3346527?ie=UTF8&asin=B00065L6CU

NaeNae, Nope, the NV is for Nevada - but I've been to Nashville - great city! How's your pre-op going?
-
I would call your doctor. My surgery isn't until May 7th, and I've already got my prescription for phengren. I'm sure he could call something into the pharmacy for you.
-
PH! Not too terribly nervous yet.. trying to keep my mind off it by whining about being on liquids for two weeks :ermm How about you???
-
Nimble - YOU ROCK! What a fabulous chart! Thank you so much!!:hail:!
-
Thanks for the encouragement... having a rough day and feeling sorry for myself!
-
Momma - I'd kill for 1200 calories a day! I'm just about completely protien shakes (with a VERY short list of veggies I can have 2 cups of a day) and I'm at 900 calories a day. Today is day 5 and I'm really getting cranky!!

Pam, Thank you so much for all the Bariatrix powder - you're so generous! I'm sorry I missed you when I came by today! -
It started sinking in for me when I started the liquid diet. I'm doing kind of ok on it... starving on Monday, not hungry at all yesterday and kind of in-between today. I did have 2 tbps of Peanut Butter on Monday, just to take the edge off...:phanvan I made the decision to persue surgery in December and started the process in January - and I'm glad for all the time it's taken. It's given me the chance to really understand what we're doing! You'll be in my thoughts next Wednesday!!

No fluids for 1hr. before and after meals?
NVgirl replied to saltlick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor is telling me no fluids 10 minutes before, nothing during, and nothing for 30 minutes after... -
Uniqueone! How are you doing on the pre-op diet? You're just a week away! Getting any cases of the nerves yet?? I'll be thinking of you!!
-
Use that word to your heart's content! Yesterday I wasn't hungry at all and the shakes completely satisfied, but today I'm a little hungrier. I did cheat my first day and had two tablespoons of peanut butter to take the edge off as well! You're just a week out! Good luck!!

I just came from my pre-op class and they addressed this very issue. The doctor said that they've had self-pay patients come in demanding fills and had them stomp out without the fill. They say they will not be bullied into doing fills, that there's an adjustment time between fills, filling too quickly can lead to erosion, etc. It's your well being they have in mind - they want you to suceed as well! If you're not losing, maybe chart every single thing you're eating to see if changes can be made and kick up your exercise some. You've lost 30 pounds since January, that's something to be proud of!

Am i the only one here who cant have potatoes/pasta on mushy stage?
NVgirl replied to JA4602's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just came from my pre-op class and carbs are fine, however, they stressed eating your meals in this order... Protein first, veggies or fruits next, carbs last. The thinking is once you've eaten chicken and vegetables (for example) you'll pretty much be full and won't have much room for the mashed potatos. -
I've heard that they can remove the band and convert to bypass. According to your surgery date, it's only been about 4 months since you've been banded, which seems pretty quick to give up. Have you talked with your doctor?

Protien shakes for two weeks, along with water, broth and certain vegetables. Started that today... I have a headache and am starving... I made up a new word... fungry! Cuz I'm f*^^ing hungry! :biggrin1:
-
It's just me and the DH right now, so he's on his own for as long as I'm on a restricted diet. He mentioned going to the store to stock up on frozen meals
-
Well, I started mine this morning... two weeks of nothing but protien shakes, no calorie/no carbonation drinks, broth and certain raw vegetables. I can already tell you that I'll be stopping at the store on the way home for some big a$$ bags of chopped up celery, cauliflower and broccoli! But, trying to be positive... it's not forever!
