My meal plan allowed saltines at the same time I got to eat peanut butter. Just be careful not to eat more crackers than peanut butter. The main thing you want to get is the protein.

Lump in chest/throat when drinking
Briannasmom replied to MsZeta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi MsZeta what you are feeling is normal. Think about a funnel with a small opening. That is what the opening of your stomach is right now. It will take a little more time for the swelling to go down and let some of that backup subside. If you try to drink too fast the air gets in too and that doesn't help things drain any faster either. It took me about a month to be able to drink anywhere close to the way I used to. Just give it time and continue to do more sipping than gulping. LOL -
Could my sleeve have stretched already?
Briannasmom replied to deedeemuffin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, not uncommon at all. I could get a good amount down too but once I started the soft food it dropped off dramatically. I was shocked at how much I was not able to get down then. When you do start the soft food, eat slow, and put the fork or spoon down between bites. This will help you take your time to know if you are full. Believe me, you don't want to be swallowing another bite when you discover you have reached your limit. LOL -
I know exactly how you feel. I put my favorite soups in the blender and made sure they were well blended and ate them that way. I may not have been able to chew any thing but I was able to get all the flavor I wanted.

Could my sleeve have stretched already?
Briannasmom replied to deedeemuffin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems like you can take alot when you are on the liquid diet. But as soon as you start the mushy food you will see that is not going to be the case after that. Don't worry, you haven't stretched anything and the surgery was successful. Alot of us have felt the same as you do right now. -
My doctor fixed one for me at the same time as my surgery but they took care of notifying the insurance company. I didn't have to do anything. You should check with the person in your doctors office that handles the insurance and see what their policy is. I just had to cover the extra to the doctor after the surgery was over.

Whole Pills Post Op
Briannasmom replied to steelergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said it was ok too but that they would take up the space in my stomach and I wouldn't be able to eat anything until they dissolved. I would feel full for about an hour or more depending on the size of the pill but otherwise no issues. -
Still Cant Get Protein
Briannasmom replied to billyvmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't do the shakes either. I found Protein shots that have 26g of protein in the 2.9oz shot. They had orange flavor and fruit punch. I preferred the fruit punch. I found them at my grocery store in the section with the Ensure. Good luck. -
My doctor told me to start at 2 weeks and to have Flinstone Chewables.

Briannasmom replied to enigmachik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the video. Never thought about it like that. That will definitely make me think before I drink anything. -
This is AWESOME!! My family and I are all addicted to ranch dressing and were getting a bit depressed at the thought of having to give it up. Thank you for saving us!!! LOL

Am I Going To Have To Drink Protein Shakes Rest Of My Life
Briannasmom replied to lowe1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the Premier Protein shakes that you can buy at Costco or Sam's Club. I think they are yummy. They have 30g of protein per shake and only 160 calories. Its worth a try to give yourself a chance to find something you might be able to like. -

Surgery Consult Questions.
Briannasmom replied to Losingitforgood!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kept a piece of paper in my purse and every time I came up with a question, no matter where I was I wrote it down. I never can remember the questions I should ask in my head. It helps to write it down anytime I think of it. -
Today was my first visit with the doctor and that went fine, of course. But the great news came when I talked to the insurance lady! Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas has changed their requirements and I don't have to do a medically supervised diet!!! Yay!!! I have to see the nutritionist and I have to get my psyche eval and thats it! I have both those appointments scheduled for the 11th of June. OMG. I am so excited!! I could actually set my surgery the end of June or the first part of July. I am so ready to start a new chapter in this book, I don't know what to do!!

Got Great News Today!
Briannasmom replied to Briannasmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much! -
I don't see where it would hurt anything to start your diet early. But please, please, please do everything you can to quit smoking. I have a friend that didn't quit and she didn't heal properly from the surgery. The doctor had to put her on a feeding tube for 3 months. That scared me enough to quit myself.

Happy Birthday!! And congratulations on the insurance approval! I'm still waiting for mine.

Sleeve With A Toddler?
Briannasmom replied to Briannasmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much! That gives me hope! I like the idea of making the same portion size meals for both of us. -
Hi all! I am entirely new to this process. I just went to the seminar to start the process to get my sleeve on Thursday. I am the single parent of a 2 year old. How hard is this going to be to go thru and take care of her too? I want to get healthy to be able to watch her grow up. I didn't have her til I was 41. I'd like to stick around as long as I can.

Hi! I just went to the seminar on Thursday. I had already made the decision to get the sleeve due to all the people I know that have gotten it and been successful. I know exactly what you mean about feeling like a stalker on this forum. I have been reading it for a couple of weeks and just joined yesterday. I haven't gotten any dates yet. Still waiting on Insurance qualifications. Good luck to you!
