Just wondering what food plan you prefer. I refuse to say "diet" because this is more of a life style than a diet.
-
How much saline did it take in your 4cc band to reach optimal restriction, aka your "sweet spot"?
-
I am looking forward to my first fill and am anxious to hear how much the average fill is for the 4cc band.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Congrats Theresa! I bet you feel fantastic!!! I am so jealous! I finally have restriction and have been really watching what I eat. I'm not "exercising" but I am trying to add bits of more activity in my normal routine. I have only lost three pounds since surgery. I have been keeping my calories between 1200-1500. I just don't know why I'm not losing weight!!! I think I'll try to do some low carbs to change things up a bit. Any other advice? Laura, good luck on the second fill. I think I need another one but I had one two weeks ago, and he said past two fills he wants me to wait 3-4 weeks. I think I'll go for three and get one next week. -

Well Violets, It sounds like everyone is glad Monday is over! Tracy, you'll do great working out tomorrow morning. You are much stronger than I am to be able to wake up at 4:30am. You go girl! I saw a fellow bandster tonight for the first time in a month. She looks so awesome! She has been giving me her clothes as she shrinks out of them. Hopefully I'll be able to wear some soon. Happy Tuesday to all! -

Violets, Now that I am on summer break I'll be able to keep up with everyone. Laura, I'm so sorry to hear about the vandalism on your house. The builder should be responsible since you haven't closed yet. Hopefully he'll make it right. Kat, you and your husband are in my prayers. T I have decided that today is the day I start making better choices. So far, so good! It helped hearing where you all are. I am so far behind. My last fill finally gave me a little restriction. That will help! Have a wonderful Monday! -

"I looked down and saw my hoo haaa!!" OMG that is way too funny! I love it! I am disappointed. I gained a pound yesterday. I did have popcorn last night. Probably salt/water gain. Quick update on Shrinking Violets: What was your date of surgery? How much liquid is in your band? How much weight have you lost? I was banded on April 9, just got my second fill and have 2ccs in my 4cc band. Am finally losing. Have lost 12lb. Need to kick myself in gear and eat healthier. I am starting to log everything in fitday.com. I think that will help. -
Hello My Friend, How are you? I do both boards. I try to stay out of the drama there. It gets sooooo deep. It's been bad lately. I have my polls here that I like. I also like the Shrinking Violets post here. It is for April 2007 banders. I like it because we are all in around the same spot in our journey. Here's that link. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/shrinking-violets-april-07-bandsters-29472/ The posts naturally show up as most recent first (I think). There is a key to the icons at the bottom of each post. I also like how they have similar posts at the bottom. Good to see you here!

I am so glad your surgery went well! We've been saving a spot on the losers bench for ya! Take care of yourself! -
Well, I finally had my first fill today. He put in 1.5ccs. He normally puts in 1, but since I have had NO restriction and can eat ANYTHING he went ahead and put in more. Yeah!

Well, I was up 2.5 on the dr scale when I went in. He was very pleased with my incision. He left 2 stitches and took the other 6 out. Who knows what caused my initial problems, but they seem to be gone now. They told me the first fill is usually 1cc, but they gave me 1.5cc since I have had NO restriction and can eat ANYTHING! I asked for no numbing meds. It was a lot of pressure and a couple of stings, but nothing bad at all! I have a bit of heartburn right now. I'm hoping it is remnants of breakfast before my fill. I would hate to have too much restriction for the first fill. I'm sipping tons of water. I'll try to post later and let you lovely violets know how my first meal goes. It will be refried beans. He said I need to do soft mushies for the first meal so I don't get suprised, but no other restrictions. I was shocked at that. I've heard many people have to go on liquids for 2 days and a few days of mushies after that. I have one meal of mushies. Hm, we'll see how it goes. Wish me luck! -

Hello Violets, It is good to hear all of you are doing so well! I haven't dropped any sizes, but the ones that I could hardly button are a bit more comfy. I have my first fill tomorrow. I can't wait. I hope he says my incision has healed enough for a fill. Last week he had to cut the initial incision off because it wouldn't heal. This one looks much better. I hope I can get that fill! I have had NO restriction from surgery. Along with that has been NO weight loss since the pre-op diet. At least I haven't gained that weight back. That is a plus anyway! I've been terrible with one thing. I've been drinking Diet Coke again. I know I'll have to stop that when I do get a fill. I tried making it most of the day without any today. I only had one. Along with that I had probably 80oz water. I guess that will work. I drink a lot of liquids. Wish me luck tomorrow. Best of luck to all the teachers and students these last few weeks of school. I can't wait for summer vacation. I miss spending the lazy days with my kids! Thanks for letting me drop in on your periodically. Sorry I am not a more regular poster. -

Michelle and Sara, Thanks for your kind words of support. I just know the "new" incision will heal much better. Brenners, I am sorry you are having port problems. Take care of yourself. This is just a small speed bump in your weight loss. Michelle, I pray for you and your upcoming test. I believe in fate. God will take care of you! Tracy, I also believe in Karma. You set yourself up for awhile. Now is the time to pray for that raise or new car! PS I graduated high school in Lansing. My parents still live in LV. Small world! -

Hello Violets, I have been having problems with my port incision. They thought it was infected then they thought it was a reaction to the tape or something. It is just not healing...4 weeks out. I went today and he cut off the old incision and restitched. He said if it heals as it should I should be able to get the stitches out and get my fill as scheduled next Thursday. -

Hi Gina, I see the dr. again tomorrow about my incision. It just isn't healing. Don't really know why. Good to know a band twin. Have you felt any restriction at all? I have none. I am scheduled for a fill on May 17. Not soon enough. I know, my tummy needs to heal. Laura -
Thanks Adorable. It is pretty painful, but it is healing and I'm in no danger of losing my port. That is all I worried about!!! I am a shrinking violet also. I just discovered the thread today. :clap2:

Hello, I was also banded in April. April 9. I had some problems with my port incision, but I think it is finally healing. I would be honored to join such a great bunch of losers! -
Four weeks post op. I had issues with my port incision. They thought it was infected. I was on 3 different antibiotics. Then they decided I was having a reaction to the tape or an internal stitch or something. Anyway, it didn't heal right.

My doctor said I could have pop. The carbonation creates gas for some. He said it usually comes with less than healthy eating, so he cautioned me. But, he said as far as my band goes, there is no problem with pop.

Pay for the band! Poll!
tekymom replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am hoping for a date in April. I have been quoted $10,750 which includes everything, even a year of fills. I had to pay $275 for psych eval, but the nurse said she doesn't think I'll require any other tests. If I do, I will hopefully get insurance to pay. I, of course, have the only insurance in KS that makes NO exceptions for WLS. BCBS of KS sucks!
