    Dizzy spells?

I was actually coming here to post about this exact same thing. I actually passed out the night, before last. Hubby heard me fall, and found me on the floor. I am so scared it will happen again, but have no idea what is causing it. I have felt dizzy several times, but it always only lasts a minute and disappears. I get all my fluids, take my Vitamins and get my Protein. I was sleeved 7/18.

I would scare you, not inspire you!
  3. Congratulations on making it through chemo. I understand you may feel this way, but to many women hair loss is very frightening, and for many WLS patients, it is the first time we have lost ours.

    Sizes?

    5'4" 144 pounds 6 in jeans 7 or 8 in dresses/dress pants and M in tops.
  5. I think my official weight on my day of surgery (7/18/12) was 209. I am 146 today, 63 down.
  6. Today I weighed in at 151 pounds. This is 62ish pounds from where I started 4 months ago. As I was filling my bath I noticed it takes a LOT longer. So, in the peace and quiet of my bath I tried to visualize what 62 looks like. Wow! 9 average size newborn babies The weight of 8 gallons of milk This is 12 pounds, so this times 5! Or...12 of these! WOW!
  7. Hi all. I have recently upped my workout to 2x a day because my weight loss has been very slow lately. I was in a car accident in 2001 which left me with some back problems. This limits my exercise options. Currently, I am going to the gym in the morning and riding a stationary bike for 5 miles and at night I walk the indoor track 4-5 miles while my daughter is at practice. I average about 13 mph on the bike and 16-17 minute miles. My calorie intake is between 800-1100 (usually right around 900) and Protein, Water and everything else is on target) According to the calculations I have, I should be burning 230 calories on the bike and between 280-300 walking. My question is with an average burn of around 500 just with my workouts, how the hell is the scale not budging? Do I need to change my intake?

    Any Michigan Sleevers?

I was sleeved in July with Dr. Pop (Poplawski) at Barix in Ypsilanti. He is awesome. I live near Ann Arbor, and just today reached a BMI in the normal range weighing in at 145 from 218 at my highest before surgery, My personal goal is 130-135. I would love to have a local sleeve buddy!

    Subway, Yes Please!

Calories 160; Fat 4g (sat 1.5g); Protein 15g; Carbohydrate 19g; Fiber 5g Subways Egg White and cheese muffin melt...DELISH and the perfect portion size for my sleeve. Keeps me full till lunch, and at just over 2 bucks I couldn't make it myself at home for the price. Below is the nutrition info. I only eat the bottom of the muffin and add spinach and tomato. I ask for light cheese. Per subway I am subtracting 40 calories and adding 1 to 2 grams of protein with the spinach. Not sure how many carbs I am getting rid of the top bread but one would guess my total is 12ish? 120 cal 16-17g protein Yes please

    Show some skin?

You will very likely not be able to wear a 2 piece if you lose 140 pounds. Perhaps after extensive plastics, but in all honesty you are losing half of yourself plus some!

    Subway, Yes Please!

No, it was not directed to you at all. Truthfully, I do not follow you close enough to know what you eat. In general though there are 3 different types on these forums. 1. Very strict "dieters" that stick 100% to their surgeons direction and plan to forever (which oddly varies greatly) but for the strictest, leaves them munching on chicken and Protein shakes day in and day out. 2. Those like myself that am not on a diet. I am mindful of what I eat, get my protein and Water, keep my carbs and calories in check, exercise and live a healthy lifestyle but still live a little. You can bet your ass that i have had a few bites (really only a few, not excessively) of the bad stuff since my sleeve. Moderation is the key for my sanity! 3. Those who eat whatever, whenever - only less because it won't fit like it used to. I will never be number 1 or 3. I do not have enough mental strength for 1 and too much for 3. Ya know what I mean?

    Subway, Yes Please!

By only eating half the English muffin, I am not eating all of the listed carbs. Also, for the calorie count, protein count, satisfying factor and bang for my buck, this IS it for me. As healthy as I am going to get for food grabbed on the go anyway. If I ate them for Breakfast, lunch AND dinner I would still be under the 40 carbs my doctor wants me to get a day, under for calories and pretty close to my protein too. I would never do such a thing because salt is high but I guess some on these forums are saints and only eat chicken. breast. all. day. long. No thanks!

*Edit Oops I misread that. Seriously, great job!!!!
  15. Thanks everyone! I appreciate the support of these forums as I have mostly kept my surgery private. I agree with delta that it did indeed take a lot of difficult days to get here. I was miserable for a few weeks after surgery. At that point I really wished that I had not chosen to have this procedure done. I was in pain and missed my food. Let me tell you though, the feeling I have now (and when, not if, I make my personal goal) made it all worth it.
  16. I am so friggen excited! Today I went into my surgeons office for a refill of my acid reducer. I happened to see him in the hall and he was super happy with my progress. So happy in fact, he asked if he could get my weight. I weighed in at 147. I am 4 1/2 months post-op and have lost 85% of my excess body weight. He gave me a high five, took a picture and pretty much skipped away. He told me that his original goal for me was 65% EWL because of my PCOS, HBP and other health issues (all of which are gone) I am still 12 pounds from my personal goal, which will put me at a BMI of 23, which would be most ideal for my body type. If I lose much more than that, I am afraid my skin will not bounce back as I would like. Maybe 130 so i have a little bounce room. I want to be healthy looking, not too skinny. Other than probably loosing 2 lbs of my weight in hair, everything else is going great. I have finally got my acid reflux under control with Lansoprazole 30mg twice a day, which is only 5.00 a month for a copayment. This is now the only prescribed medicine I take. Blood pressure, high blood sugar and metformin for PCOS all discontinued. My size 8s are getting roomy (I was a right 16 and a XL or 1x) and honestly I don't look too bad naked, considering 3 kids, c section and surgery scars. Best of all though, truly..I am healthy and feel fanfrickentastic. It's amazing. Lose the weight of a 9 year old boy and everything stops hurting I see often on the boards people say that they get pissed when they see someone around 'only' 200 LBS have surgery. I was at my highest 218, and at surgery 209. I was slowly but surely KILLING myself. I feel like a new woman, I look like a new woman and am here to tell all of you 'low BMI'rs' that if you have tried, unsuccessfully to lose that extra weight and only see yourself moving up...research, research research and then GET YOUR LIFE BACK! Don't wait till you are 250...300...400 pounds. Seriously! By no means was this easy, but besides having my children and marrying my hubby, it was the best thing I ever did for myself, and for them.

    Damn girl! Great job!
  18. I saw this and researched it online. http://www.dietdoctor.com/the-dreamfields-pasta-fraud Damn! ????
  19. This is tough, because clothing is vanity sized now. I am 5'4" 150 lbs and comfortably wear an 8 at all the stores I have tried (Express, American Eagle, AE and Old Navy) and I am still 15 pounds to goal, which may need to be adjusted lower. I have a medium bone structure and medium muscle mass.
  20. Count me in. Surgery Date July 18, 2012 Weight on day of surgery: 209 Current weight: 151 New Years goal: 145 ('normal' BMI!)
  21. It actually usually starts around 4 months post op and lasts anywhere from 2-5 months. What does not fall out (and a lot falls out) gets pretty dull on drab. There are tons of recommendations on ways to prevent hair loss on the boards, but I think either you are lucky and you don't lose a lot, or you are like me and lose chunks upon chunks daily. Luckily, I had very thick hair before surgery, so I do not think others notice, but I honestly without exaggerating have lost 40-50% of my hair.
