  1. Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Daryl and I'm from Sunny San Diego! I was sleeved last week on May 15, and today I finally got my drain removed! Phew. I hated that thing! I'm happy to say that as of today I'm down 46 pounds from when I started my pre-op liquid diet! But man, I can't wait until I can get back to the gym in full force! I can't even do my routine stretches! Oh well, I feel great! I just have a few questions, I'm currently only able to drink 1 Protein shake a day because after a few sips I feel full. I'm also drinking about 54 ounces of Water throughout the day. Should I be concerned about how little protein I'm taking? I should note that I don't feel dizzy or tired at all, and in fact I feel nearly as energetic as before I started the liquid diet. Thanks for the help and it's great to be here!

    Down 130 (!)

Hey what's goin on guys? It's been forever since I've been on these forums, but last week marked the 1 year anniversary of my operation. I'm HAPPY to say I'm down 130lbs, and I feel completely normal. Everyone's saying how healthy I look hahaha. It's pretty awesome being able to go up stairs without wheezing after one flight. Anyway, update pic! I think I overdid it on the cardio. Need to tone up now lol!

    Down 130 (!)

Thank you! That little bump is called the xiphoid process, it's cartilage at the end of your sternum. It's normal haha.

Foods on days you exercise a lot?

Being negative is not a bad thing. Being in the negative is a calorie deficit, and that's how you lose body fat. But keep in mind that you need to replenish your bodies nutrients, so while being "in the negative" isn't exactly bad, being too much in the negative implies that you're also not getting the nutrients your body needs

    Drainage Bag

I had mine on for about a week. It SUCKED when they yanked the booger out! They did it fast like a band aid... Omg. If anyone wants to see a pic of a drain. With drainage fluid, I might be able to provide one... Lol.

    New Guy From San Diego!

I'm doing well! I'm on the mushies stage, and I tried making a tuna patty, with chopped onion shredded fat free cheddar, oats and an egg white, blended it up and cooked the "batter" in a pan haha. It looked like a pancake! But tasted like tuna :/ it didn't taste bad though so that's good. Next week I'm on soft foods and I can't wait! A lot of people are noticing how much wait I've lost, its pretty crazy... Good luck with everything! Keep me updated!

    App Ideas

Speaking of turkey, maybe you can try making some "Turkey Meatloaf Muffins?" They look relatively easy to make, and look pretty appetizing. Also of note, on that YouTube channel, I made the slow cooked chicken salsa meal, and used mango peach salsa, and it turned out brilliant!!!
  10. Morning everyone! While perusing youtube for healthy recipes for me to try out once I'm back on solid foods, I came across this youtube channel and found these awesome recipes! This kid has some great looking food, and he puts the nutritional information in the videos to boot. Check them all out! http://youtube.com/leanbodylifestyle Here's one I really want to try:

I got my surgery at UCSD with Dr. Horgan. Great doctor, friendly and to the point! He and his team are top notch here. I couldn't have had a better experience. Thanks! Yes, I love San Diego haha. I actually work 5 minutes away from Torrey Pines State Reserve. I drive past every day after work. It's the best drive, and the view makes the traffic worth it

    Looking For A Healthy Shake!

Ok, so I've never tried this with Protein powder, but if you try it, let me know how it tastes lol: 1 palmful of grapes fresh or pre frozen for a thicker smoothie(126g) 1/2 cup of coconut Water (remove this of you want to make an acai bowl) 1/2 brick of acai roots pure unsweetened acai purée (buy at whole foods or health food type stores) 1 scoop or strawberry protein powder Good luck!
  15. I use premier nutrition shakes form Costco as well, but I've been wanting to try isopure.

    Pain

It's a subdermal drain that provides low suction to get liquid samples just below your skin. Just to make sure there isn't a lot of blood clotting

    After Soft Foods, What's Next?

I was put on clear liquids for 4 days post op, full liquids day 5-13. Then week 3 and 4 I can have purée, and weeks 5 and 6 soft foods before finally solid foods at week 7 ha.

    Pain

Give it a few more days. I felt the EXACT same way, and by my fourth or fifth day I could start tolerating liquids a bit more. Do you also have a drain attached to your abdomen?

    Just Sleeved.

Maybe you're swallowing some air? I've experienced that as well. At first I thought it was a blockage of some type, but it went away

    Help!

Wow you only have to do a 2 week liquid diet? Lucky... My doctor does a 4 week pre op liquid diet haha
  21. I used to take excedrin for my headaches and pain pre surgery, but doctor's orders were to stop taking it after, and to use tylenol as well

    Wheres The Men At

I had my procedure 9 days ago, down 10 pounds from when I was sleeved, and down 46 from the start of the pre open liquid diet.
  23. My doctor gave me some liquid Vicodin. Well, I don't KNOW if its actually Vicodin but its hydrocodone-acetaminophen. Same thing though right? I only take it if pain is unbearable, so I've only used it day 1 post op
