    My Incisions Itch!

Itching means healing. Itching is a very good sign. I itched around it (no on the incisions whatsoever) mentally it helps.
  2. Mio (sorry, auto correct!)
  3. Gatorade, (HAS to be G2) is awesome. They have this raspberry lemonade that I have fallen in love with. It's how I get my water in. Gatorade seems to always be on sale and one bottle takes me two or three days because I use it in between waters. Just a nice change of pace. I also think the milo is great. Do does my surgeon. Those were his 2 biggest recommendations to help me not get overwhelmed with the water I now was supposed to drink. Good luck!
  4. know that what you feel is normal. I to had surgery may 7. I think it tells you things will get better. I stopped thinking about food so much once I moved to soft foods. I missed just chewing. (and yes, I cheated a bit after surgery, I took a bite of an egg. Chew chew chew and spit it out) good luck, hang in there. It gets better.

    3 Days Post Op

Congrats on the surgery! Your spirits are high and that is the best thing you can do in my opinion. I to am having major pain, however mine is on the right side, I have been fine the first 2 weeks after surgery but the last few days, this pain had come on. Hurts to breathe, move, talk and eat all I'm this right side (not attached to any incisions) by two weeks, I bet you will be ready for work. Keep up your great attitude and I wish you continued success!
  6. Three weeks out and I would do it again, tell anyone I love to do it. Shout from the rooftops. The 29 lbs I am down so far, if that was all I got, I would still do it again.

    How Long After To Drive?

I was told just when I was no longer taking pain medication. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.
  8. I am 3 weeks tomorrow too. I just took 3 bites of an egg. My tummy is going crazy. I am glad to hear the 6 to 8 week thing. It's better than it was. It doesn't hurt to drink protein shakes anymore or take a few bites of soup so things are moving in the right direction. I know I am in need of working on my patience :-D

    Headache

I would agree that you should start with working on fluids. you are early enough out of surgery that if you just stuck with fluids til you can get back with your dr, you would be fine. You could also go pick up some prilosec to help with the acid. And I love the taste of gatorade (G2) (HATRED gatorade before surgery) but the flavors are so good after drinking water and broth for so long. Go with room temp drinks. See if it helps. If not, head to the er
  10. Day 3 felt like day 1 to me too. I was still in the hospital because I was throwing up. Day 4 was the first day I felt, "okay, I guess I wouldn't do anything to take it back" up til then I just kept thinking what did I do? Walking is the trick (you will hear it over and over and over) I am 3 weeks out tomorrow. Feeling about 90% these days. But I am down 20 lbs so it helps the pain :-)
  11. I too have been open to most people. Except the in laws. My reason for that was my husband had gastric bypass last year. He did want to keep HIS a secret but felt he needed to tell his parents. He told them specifically not to tell his bros, sis and step family. 2 weeks later we were up at his dads and his WHOLE family knew. I was so upset they would treat him that way. That is the only reason I am not saying anything. I feel like they lost the opportunity to be given information. It's petty I know. But we have never had a good relationship. But those that know, have all been supportive.
  12. I was just cleared for soft foods but when I was on straight liquids after surgery I cheated with a small piece of chicken but what I did was take a bite, chew chew chew, then spit it out (gross, I know) but for me, I just felt like I wanted to chew. I am sure no Dr would say to do it, but it did work for me.
  13. I am 3 weeks out from surgery this coming Monday. I had pain that started yesterday and today seems pretty unbearable. The pain is higher up than any incisions. It's on the right side right over one of my ribs. It is tender when I touch it and feels like a stabbing pain when I breathe. Have others had this problem? And of course it had to happen on a Saturday over a 3 day weekend. Grrrr

    I Am Having Major Pain

I called and left a message with my surgeons nurse. Luckily (I guess) I had my gallbladder out 8 years ago. The pain is right around the area of my gallbladder. I am assuming they will tell me it's a muscle thing. To me it feels like I cracked a rib. I wouldn't worry if it didn't hurt when I took a breath. We will see. Thanks for your thoughts!

Srry If Its Random...i'm Just Really Annoyed!

That sucks. Its amazing how such a vulnerable subject makes you feel unloved, ugly, not good enough. All the while your head is saying, that isn't what he is saying, maybe he had a bad day, maybe he didn't get that I was open to it etc. Its amazing how (at least I personally can) turn something that may be innocent into "all about me".... Its hard being a woman. :-) I fully agree though that tonight you should be the "hunter" go after that man!!!
  17. I was so happy to come upon this forum. I had surgery on May 7th. I am down a total of 27 lbs. I am just at the beginning of thus journey. Trying to figure out how I eat when I am just not feeling like it, trying to start exercising and also trying to not fall back into bad habits. I have been craving something (anything really) that is bad for me :-) I keep thinking maybe when I start sleeping again and learn how this all works it will go away (I am sure I am being crazily optimistic) can't wait to get to know you all and hopefully add my support. Thanks! And continued success to all!
