Buffalo Chicken Bites + Chicken Enchilada Bites
DoctorWu replied to Gastricsleeve4me's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Here's a great recepie for Buffalo chicken dip, I was able to eat this in week 3 by pulsing the chicken in the Ninja a couple times - http://www.food.com/...cken-dip-413265 -
You have time. Start today - 3 Slimfasts per day + 2 protien bars and a light dinner. I lost 17lbs in 2 weeks doing this...then my surgery got delayed a week because of a faulty ekg reading...I ate fried chicken, Hibachi & sushi that day because I was pissed off...then I went back to the 3 slimfasts + 2 protien bars + light dinner for the next week and lost another 5 lbs before the surgery. The primary reason they need you to lose weight before surgery is to shrink the liver.

well..I'm not a woman and didn't get a catheter when I was sleeved...so its not one of those but I have had uti's twice before so maybe I'm just prone to them or something?

Thanks for the quick reply! Getting enough fluids has been a challenge for me as well but don't think I've reached the dehydration stage yet...have been trying to increase the Water intake since this started. Thanks again!

Hi, I'm 14 days post op today. This weekend I started to have problems urinating, burning etc. I've had urinary tract infections before so I knew that's what it was pretty much right away. I went to urgent care and they confirmed it and gave me an antibiotic to knock it out. Just a little worried though, does anyone know if this could be a symptom of some kind of complication with the vsg? Thanks, Cliff

I was done by Dr. Nick on May 21st. I'm 9 days post op. I agree, Forest Park was really great, make sure you walk as soon as possible after the surgery. The nurses are nazi's about it but its good for you, you'll thank them when you only need to spend one night in the hospital. Oh yeah, I've lost 40 lbs since starting the pre-op diet. 17 since the surgery. I have a lot left to lose...

1 Week Post-Op & Feeling Like A Rock Star
DoctorWu replied to Fyrefly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whats the alternative to hanging in there, because I'm on day 9 and I'm sick of this. I do feel better than I did last week but I still have pain in my lower left side that gets worse when I'm sitting, but is ok if I'm laying down or standing in perfect alignment with the moon. On top of that my head hunger is out of control, I need to put some food in my mouth soon or I'm going to go apeshit. My follow up isn't until next week. I bought a scale that was "high capacity" that came today. Its supposed to be rated for 550 lbs, and it weighed me ok this afternoon - have lost 16lbs since surgery, a total of 40 since starting the pre-op diet. Went to step on the scale again a little while ago and now it just said ERR...I must've gained 100 pounds since this afternoon...GRRRRRRRRRRRRR -
8 Days Post Op And...
DoctorWu replied to melyh0403's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm fortunate enough to have a job where I can work from home if needed and my boss was nice enough to let me work from home for 2 weeks. I'm on day 8 as well, I took the first week after surgery off completely and started back working from home this week and I can't imagine having to go into work yet. For one thing my office is an hour from my house in Dallas traffic, that right there would kill me all by itself. I"m having a very tough time with being tired and also having some pain if I sit too long, can't imagine having to deal with this at the office. Hang in there! -
How Are Those Of You That Are Post-Sleeve?
DoctorWu replied to NJsharon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 7 days post as of today. Most of the pain is gone. Haven't had too many problems with heartburn but still get bad gas pains occasionally . My biggest problem has been food frustration. I really need to chew on something....today in desperation I sucked on a piece of bacon for a few minutes then spit it out. It was bliss. Can't wait to get beyond this phase. -
I definitely agree with your definitions of "real" vs. "Head" hunger, my head hunger has been awful, taking it one day at a time and can't wait until the liquid diet phase is over. Day 7 starts today. ..14 days left of liquids.....

I was sleeved on 5/21 as well and I feel "hunger " sometimes too. But it seems more like cravings or head hunger to me than actual hunger...not sure if that makes sense but anyway I wish I could get over it.

Was supposed to be May 15th but there was a problem with my EKG, so I'm now 3 days post-op. Still feeling some pain and discomfort in my abdomen but that's to be expected. Only had one night in the hospital, I'm able to walk ok, starting weight was 472 when I started the pre-op diet. I weighed in at 449 the day of surgery. Looking forward to being out of pain. Its been tough drinking all the liquids I'm supposed to drink. Not really liking the protein drink the dr suggested. -- Cliff

Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself, I was sleeved on Monday. That first day, right after surgery was tough. Had to keep getting up and walking every couple hours and it was really really hard at first. Only had to spend one night in the hospital though and am home now. That first night at home I had a lot of pain in my arms but that has subsided and I still have some pain in the lower left part of my belly which I understand is the location of the largest incision. When I started this journey, I weighed 472, after the first two weeks of the pre-op diet I weighed in at 455. I say first two weeks because I ended up having to be on the pre-op for an extra week because of my EKG results - turned out the tech at the hospital switched the leads on the ekg and made it look like I had a huge heart problem. So my original surgery date got delayed, I got another ekg which was fine and a heart sonogram just to be sure and that was fine too so I was able to get rescheduled the following week. The day of my surgery I weighed in at 449. The reason I made the decision to go with the surgery was primarily due to the lymph edema in my right leg. I've been hospitalized twice in the past year for severe infections and my doctors keep telling me that the only way to clear up the lymph edema completely is to lose weight. I had tried lost of other diets before but just couldn't control my appetite. I have a good feeling that this is going to work and I'm looking forward to loosing a lot more weight in the coming months. Anyway, have been reading a lot on this sight and finally decided to join. Thanks, Cliff
