Cheated and very scared/emotional
GeauxForIt replied to TXGIRL80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You need to call your surgeon ASAP and let them know. Your stomach is far from healed and they need to know to monitor you extra closely for leaks and/or other complications. -

When you post on a public forum, you have to take the good with the bad... -

I hope you are thick skinned bc you're going to get a serious reality check from some of the posters here... -
I have to know, does the hunger/appetite REALLY disappear?
GeauxForIt replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, not getting enough water in really does make me feel "hungry". It's tricky getting it in with the 30 minute rules, but makes a HUGE difference for me. -
NSAID experience in cold/flu season

As a Motrin junkie, I had a hard time giving it up pre-surgery, and I was wondering what I'll effects it "really" had. Thank you for posting a cautionary tale. My doc said Tylenol Sinus was ok to take. I hope you feel better! -
Need to get back on track!

Thank you so much for pouring your guts out to us. I'm only 10 weeks out and look to 'vets' like you for the real, sometimes ugly truth. Once the newness of this new tool wears off, I need to know that even those of us with the best intentions and strongest wills will screw it up now and then. I have to know that bad things happen (and I'm so sorry for your loss) and life is going to get rough and that I can't allow myself to use that excuse anymore. That's when the old me would say, "Eff it!" And go back to my old BFF...FOOD. The new (sleeved) me will not do that. I'm gonna be like you when I grow up. You're modeling such great behavior for us newbies and I'm so grateful to you! -

As for hunger, days 5-12 were hell for me! After that, I had basically no appetite at all until literally a few days ago (I was 10 weeks out last Monday). Now I can recognize my hunger for what it is...my body truly needs food. I'm still learning the difference between "wanting to eat" vs. true hunger. That's a real mind f*#k!! I'm very proud of myself for consistently making good food choices since surgery and doing everything I can to replace my bad habits with good ones. It's HARD some days, I won't kid you, but I've had to take responsibility for my addiction and my choices. Nothing tastes as good as being around to see my children grow up. -

What is your essential cooking tool?
GeauxForIt replied to Pinky Green's topic in Food and Nutrition
My Husband! But he's not for sale. -
He didn't hide your scale, he hid ours!
-
GET RID OF THAT SCALE!! I had my DH hide yours and it's been such a relief. Don't get caught up in that number bc it really isn't the most important. You WILL lose bc you're committed and YOU will rock the hell out if this sleeve!

Doctors differ greatly on this topic. I only had blood thinners while in the hospital. I only came home with pain medication. But your doctor feels like it's right for you, so I'd call him if I were you.

Same here!! And I'm SO proud of myself bc I wanted to eat those yummy mofos in the worst way!
-
I just assumed it all tasted sour! I'll try a different brand. Duh!

I'm 10 weeks out today and I just feel like its too soon to indulge. I'm not the girl who can eat one cookie and be fine. I eat a whole ROW of double stuft Oreos or the whole package of Girl Scout Cookies. I'm also not resolute enough in my defeat of my food addiction. I DO feel like it'd be a slippery slope and I can't give myself permission at this point. There will be a time in the future when I'll be able to have A cookie or A bite of cake, but I'm not there yet. Thanks for your responses, everybody. Crisis averted. ;D

I'm baking Cookies for Santa with my kiddos and my mouth is watering. Literally. Cookies are my biggest weakness and I've done a good job of either staying away from them or keeping them out of the house. Now there's about to be a whole sheet of warm, yummy soft cookies right in my face. I feel myself slipping for the 1st time since surgery. HELP. CODE RED!

How long were you on clear liquids POST Surgery?
GeauxForIt replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feeling great! Gotta pep in my step... I'm not sure how much I've lost. I had to take the scale out of the house bc I was obsessing! lol At my 6 week appt, I had lost 22.5 lbs (gotta include the half!) and I'm down another size since then. -

How long were you on clear liquids POST Surgery?
GeauxForIt replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Baton Rouge here, too. Dr. Allain on 10/15, and I was on clear liquids only while in the hospital. Then 2 weeks full liquid (which was rough!), 2 weeks puréed, 4 weeks of soft foods and now regular foods. -
I did too! I thought I had a couple of more months until I felt really hungry again. It makes me feel really anxious and I feel like it's already getting harder to stay committed. THAT makes me sad...
