  1. I had Pedialite (the grape is the best) the 1st few weeks after surgery bc I felt so weak. It really helped, but I knew I couldn't do it long term.

    Oct. 15, 2012 Sleeve Date

I had a rough night last night. Family holiday dinner and SWEETS galore. I mean, it was ridiculous! My drug of choice is cookies and there were literally six different kinds and it took every iota of willpower and determination not to indulge. I hope that at some point in the future I can be an eat-one-cookie-and-be-fine kind of girl, but I'm not that girl today. It would've been like an alcoholic saying, "I'll just have one drink." I was feeling sorry for myself last night, but I'm proud of myself today.

Any suggestions for a high protein low carb snack?

I'm relying too heavily on Protein bars right now and know I can't do that long term due to the carbs and calories. I have a refrigerator at work, but a short time for breaks. Would love to have a stash of quick things so I'm not tempted by the evil vending machine! lol

I'm interested in hearing from the vets, too!

    lime and baking soda

Strangely enough, I can't tolerate plain water at all anymore. It HAS to be flavored. Weird!
  6. I'll be 11 weeks out on Monday. I never received a calorie target from the NUT, so I'd like some guidance/advice on what info others have gotten from their doctors or NUTs. I'd appreciate any advice from the vets, too! Thanks!

    11 Weeks...Calories?

I'm afraid that I'm eating too many carbs. I'm relying on at least 2 Protein bars and 2 Protein shakes a day to get my protein in. I know I can't do that long term bc of the calories and carbs but it's the ONLY way I can get in so much protein right now. :/

  10. So, exactly why do we have such a hypersensitive nose post-sleeve? I feel like I have dog smell or something and its mostly NOT a good thing! Does this side-effect mellow out further out from surgery? I'm almost 10 weeks out and it's still going strong!

    Craving at night

I always had a "snack" at bedtime, too. It was usually something HORRIBLE to be eating right before bed like Oreos or some other sweets. I have to make sure that I have a Protein shake or (most often) a chocolately Protein Bar to take upstairs with me for bed or I find myself craving sweets in a bad way. Or even a sf chocolate pudding. I just plan it into my day now.

    Top Ten Protein

Be sure to check out carbs on Protein powder, too. Most of them are for body builders to gain weight. Not what we need! LOL Thank you for posting this.

I Hate It When People Misuse "literally"!

I saw a tshirt the other day that said, "I'm silently correcting your grammar." and I thought about everyone here!! LOL

    lime and baking soda

Oh, and I'd stay AWAY from the baking soda!

    lime and baking soda

My go to for nausea is Crystal Light lemonade in a room temperature water, or lime juice mixed with water. I sucked on Lemonheads through both pregnancies, but that's not an option now!

3 days post op.. WHAT DO I EAT?

And straining the noodles and chicken out of Chicken Noodle soup tastes way better than broth. It was awful to throw away the noodles though! LOL

3 days post op.. WHAT DO I EAT?

I enjoyed sf Popsicles. It felt good to actually bite something! I was able to have yogurt, too, which was yummy.
  20. OP, have you attended your surgeon or hospital's support group? Do you have a counselor/therapist? Look, this surgery ain't for sissies. It's HARD, and it's REALLY hard for the 1st month! But you were brave enough to choose this and you've got to suck it up, get your head in the game and ROCK THAT SLEEVE, girl!!! You HAVE to do this for the people who love you and most importantly, for YOU. You CAN do it, so DO it.
  21. And what behavior are you modeling for your daughter? If you can't manage to do it for yourself, do it for her for Pete's sake...
