11days post op and not losing

11 days post op and you are eating fish and veggies and meats??? I know every doctor is different but 11 days post op I was still on liquids. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I am 3 months post op and losing minimally, I am not at restriction, I am eating healthy and controled portions and calories, in all reality I am on a diet. (and if diets worked for us we wouldn't have gotten the band). I have been told and don't expect to start really losing until my band is at restriction and that could be in another 1 month or 3 months, until then........a diet. I am shocked that your dr gave you a weight loss goal. I had my 3rd fill last week and my nurse high fived me for losing 3lbs in 4 weeks........ Your band is not working for you yet and until you reach restriction you really do need to go easy on yourself. good luck.

    Alcohol?

My clinic said no alcohol for 6 months and beer would be carbonated.....no carbonation forever. Wine might a better option.
  3. By the looks of your menu, I would think that you have enough calories in your day to add a morning snack (protein - yogurt, almonds, cottage cheese) and an afternoon snack.........Most aim for about 1200 calories/day. You are only a month out, stop at a cup/8oz and drink your way to your next snack or meal............bandster hell.
  4. Could you be drinking too much of your protein and calories? Liquids go right thru you and do not give you the feeling of being full. Can you substitute your shakes for real food. Some dr's believe that once you are on a full food plan you should never have to have shakes again, you should be eating all your calories. Some people are tight in the morning so need the shakes.........just a thoughts. Mashed potatoes probably wouldn't give you pain or vomiting or a full feeling, I would imagine they slide right on thru. Are you drinking all of your fluids? Good luck to you.

    Quick bounce back?

I had surgery on a Monday and was walking Walmart on the Thursday. Everyone heals differently, I just needed to wait til I was off the pain meds before I could drive. Go with how you feel.

    Need help feeling down

I had my surgery a week after you...........3 months ago today, I have had 3 fills and am at 4cc. I do not have restriction). Slider foods are food that aren't good for you that are super easy to pass thru the band, cake, Cookies, ice cream, sweets, liquids for some reason our band lets those pass on thru. What are you eating daily, are you getting your Protein? I am certainly not hungry all the time and limit myself to 1c per meal, but could eat more if I wanted to. Good luck to you.
  7. I paid $16,000 for the unknown. All I know is that I have to do alot of work and I will be successful and every penny will have been worth it.

    3 days post op...need help

My clinic (and they are all different) wasn't too worried my first week post op to get the Protein in, they just wanted me hydrated and healing. I went back to my pre op protein shakes which I have to buy, but that was okay. They also suggested adding cottage cheese to my Soups for protein and putting it all in a blender. good luck.
  9. I asked that question at my first consultation............they told me nobody has died at their clinic.

    oatmeal!

Oatmeal was not on my pureed, cream of wheat was..............just saying, every dr is different.
  11. wildrose1966

    oatmeal!

Just regular quaker oats cooked with water should be just fine. Stay away from the packaged ones (brown sugar, apple and cinnamon etc). Maybe alittle milk and cinnamon/splenda added. I don't think I could do oatmeal until about 4 weeks post op.........good luck.

    Burping?

I burp like it is my job, full belly, empty belly, liquids, food, chicken, meatballs - burping loud and proud. 3 months out. Since the day I started my preop liquids I have not taken 1 antacid, zero heartburn............so if I have to burp, so be it, would rather that then heartburn. I don't think it is hurting anything except my ladylike reputation

    I feel guilty :0(

Mine was $16k and I haven't had once ounce of guilt. When I started telling people, I told them that if I didn't do this, I would die, maybe not today or tomorrow, but certainly earlier than my friends or sister..........not much they can say about that. Good luck.

    Need help feeling down

Please make sure your dr is okay with this, but at the mushie stage, I bought a rotissaire chicken and put it in a blender with a bit of liquid, sometime added chedder or laughing cow............best thing I ever ate. I could also do chili in a blender, you should start eating your protein not just drinking it. I put cottage cheese in my soup and blended it as cottage cheese is a good source of protein. I believe I stuck with one of my pre op shakes for bfast and ate my other 2 meals. Tuna salad, chicken salad...........eating protein will keep you fuller longer. Again, make sure this is on your dr's plan, but this was my personal choices during my pureed and blenderized stage.

    Any Ideas

Take what you need to out of this site and ignore what you don't. Don't let a few 'catty' comments ruin the information and experience for you.

    Need help feeling down

Can you give us an idea what you are eating on mushies and how much??? Take a deep breathe, you will be fine.
  17. wildrose1966

    Mushes

Every surgeon is different. Follow your dr's instructions. My mushie stage was called pureed and blenderized, and it was exactly that, if it could go in a blender I could have it. (for the most part)

    Pre surgery diet

4 optifast shakes and 1 serving of fruit and 1 serving of veg's a day for 2 weeks.

    For Real?!?

I took my painkillers for 1 day just because I was afraid of the pain that I might have, it never came. I can honestly say I didn't have one stitch of pain from the second I walked out of the clinic. I was off all pain medication on day 2. Everyone is different, and even though I didn't get pain, my dr did prescribe me 30 oxycodone (I used 4) - so I am sure he was anticipating something. Personally I would ask for something as backup in case the tylenol doesn't cut it. good luck.
  20. Cancelling the game is not a bad idea either. Everyone heals differently, and personally I could have gone 3 days post op, but have heard of other who could hardly get out of bed 5 days post op. Why don't you just wait and see how you feel...........put people on notice that you may or may not be able to attend.
  21. I am not sure what your dr's instructions are, but I would have been aloud to have soup, yougart, pudding, smoothies, protein drinks............just follow your dr's instructions and you should be fine.
  22. I am having a hard time reading that people are 1,2,3 months out and losing and happy and life is wonderful. (don't get me wrong, I am happy for you, and pissed off with me) I would give anything to trade places with the person who has only lost 40lbs in 2 months and wonders what they are doing wrong. I am 3 months out and am not losing at all, am not gaining either and am on a big fat stupid diet. My band has zero restriction, I can eat anything, am trying to stick to 1200 calories and 70g of Protein. I exercise up to 4x a week (spinning, bootcamp, power barbell), I have cut out so many foods that I would have eaten pre band it isn't even funny, and nothing is moving or changing. I don't understand how probably cutting my calories in half isn't making a difference. If dieting would have worked for me pre band I wouldn't have got the band. I am scared now that once I reach restriction and continue to eat good and healthy and 1000-1200 calories per day that nothing is going to happen, because I am doing it now. I go for my 3rd fill tomorrow, another 1cc - woopie. (pisses me off too that I have to drive 6hrs for this) and if I didn't have to drive 6hrs home on Sunday and fly on Wed, I would push for a bigger fill (which they probably wouldn't do) but I can't risk being in trouble in another country or 6hrs away and leaving the country the next day. I know this is bandster hell, I know my band isn't working for me, I know it is all about willpower, I know I have to wait it out and be patient........but I don't like it. (and I don't like Christmas music either - bahh humbug) I need to have a heart to heart with my nurse tomorrow and get my spirit back in the game. Thanks for letting me vent, and contrats to everyone who is finding success with their band and those who are getting ready to be banded.

It is hard to log into LBT these days

Thank you to all of you who took the time out of your day to respond to my little pity moment. I know 27lbs is good, I am just frustrated..........6hr drive for fills and appts sucks too. Fill tomorrow, will chat with the nurse. Stay tuned, all will be good in my world.
  24. I am 6hrs away so these 1cc fills are driving me nuts with no restriction. I have a fill on Friday and would love to push it to 2cc, however I have to drive home 6hrs on Sunday and then heading to FL on Wed. I don't want to risk being out of the country, or 6hrs away if anything goes south, so I guess it is another 1cc fill. ugh.

    "cupcake" dinners

I have made the zuccuhini tots - love love them - double the recipe for a veggie serving. I have made the chicken parm. great as well, so easy to make and freeze. My mom made the buffalo chicken macaroni (I think that is the one), it was good as well. Not filling by itself, need to add a veggie to the meal.
