wildrose1966 replied to wildrose1966's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, I have been putting them in the bullet with ice, thinking I might have to drag the bullet to work this week..........just don't want the questions, will try day 1 at work with bringing ice and putting in the freezer for a bit. I really need to try to get that 4th one in. -

Optifast - Oh My
wildrose1966 replied to wildrose1966's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did manage to choke down my 3rd shake today, couldn't do the 4th. Using a straw helped, didn't that to deal with that awful smell.............13 more days is going to be really really tough. -
Optifast - Oh My
wildrose1966 replied to wildrose1966's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the suggestions, but Optifast is mandated by my surgeon, I even purchased 2 weeks worth them. I can't believe I bought something that tastes so bad. I don't think I can get 4 of them in a day, maybe 3. 4 a day plus 1 fruit and 1 veggie, sf jello and sf popsicles. My fruit and veggie tonight are going to be wonderful. -

Pre Op Diet Starts Tomorrow
wildrose1966 replied to goingfoit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start mine on Sunday..........still in denial until I have that first shake........then decisions will be easy, vanilla or chocolate shake. I get 1 serving of fruit and 1 of veggies a day.......I think carrots might be my friend, I can imagine I may want the crunch and chew.....who knows. I have heard everything how to make the shakes taste better, less water = pudding, more ice=shake, cold is better. I may even add my serving of fruit in there for a change up. I can also have sf popsicles and sf jello in moderation (not every day). good luck -

Newbie And Dietician (Vent!!!)
wildrose1966 replied to cmd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Perhaps the surgeon you go to will have a dietician that they recommend who understands bariatric surgery a bit better. again I am not sure how it works w insurance and if you have to use the ones they send you to. -
Newbie And Dietician (Vent!!!)
wildrose1966 replied to cmd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am self pay so although I told my pcp and had a manditory session w a nutritionists, I feel that only myself and the surgeon could make the decision to move forward. (regardless of being self pay, there was never any pressure from the clinic to move forward, everything was at my pace.) I did tell my PCP as she has a right to know and she was supportive. If she wasn't for valid reasons, I certainly would have had to have had a rethink. I can't answer your questions, but I would think that you might have to ask your insurance company what they require. -
ditto that on Walden Farms...........

Is it possible for you to go to a soup kitchen to get one good meal in. It is not good for you or anyone to be so hungry. Is there a friend you can go to for assistance or a hot meal? Good luck to you.

Pre-Op Diet Day One
wildrose1966 replied to lv2nurse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on optifast........had to purchase from surgeons office. No other options. -
I had knee surgery about 15yrs ago and my whole area by my incision is still numb to the touch, I could feel a pin prick, but to touch the skin, numb. I am sure it is all about the healing process and you should be fine. If you are freaked out, give your surgeon a call.
