    Optifast - Oh My

Thanks, I have been putting them in the bullet with ice, thinking I might have to drag the bullet to work this week..........just don't want the questions, will try day 1 at work with bringing ice and putting in the freezer for a bit. I really need to try to get that 4th one in.

    Optifast - Oh My

I did manage to choke down my 3rd shake today, couldn't do the 4th. Using a straw helped, didn't that to deal with that awful smell.............13 more days is going to be really really tough.

    Optifast - Oh My

Thanks for the suggestions, but Optifast is mandated by my surgeon, I even purchased 2 weeks worth them. I can't believe I bought something that tastes so bad. I don't think I can get 4 of them in a day, maybe 3. 4 a day plus 1 fruit and 1 veggie, sf jello and sf popsicles. My fruit and veggie tonight are going to be wonderful.

    Pre-Op Diet Effects & Questions

Every office is different, I start tomorrow with 4 shakes and 1 serving each of fruit and veggies, no broth, sf popsicles, sf jello as a treat, not daily. Good luck to you, I think this might be the hardest part.

    Caffeine During Pre Op Diet

Thanks all, guess my 1 morning hot tea should be okay. I have the pepperment ready to go post surgery for the gas and am okay to not have caffeine. I also got come instant coffee to add if the 4 shakes a day get too boring.

    Do's And Dont's...

I can have sf popsicles, no pudding and sf jello in moderation...........not daily for pre op. Everyone is different.

    Pre Op Diet Starts Tomorrow

I start mine on Sunday..........still in denial until I have that first shake........then decisions will be easy, vanilla or chocolate shake. I get 1 serving of fruit and 1 of veggies a day.......I think carrots might be my friend, I can imagine I may want the crunch and chew.....who knows. I have heard everything how to make the shakes taste better, less water = pudding, more ice=shake, cold is better. I may even add my serving of fruit in there for a change up. I can also have sf popsicles and sf jello in moderation (not every day). good luck

You should ask your surgeons office. My clinic has a monthly meeting.

    Help

I have told 6 people, mother, sister, 2 friends who will be very supportive and my boss and coordinator, that is it............nobody else needs to know and I don't need to be explaining myself to anyone else nor do I need people watching me to see if 'it works'.

    Surgery September 19Th

I am having mine on Sept 17th. Start my preop on Sunday........good luck to you.
  16. Perhaps the surgeon you go to will have a dietician that they recommend who understands bariatric surgery a bit better. again I am not sure how it works w insurance and if you have to use the ones they send you to.
  17. I am self pay so although I told my pcp and had a manditory session w a nutritionists, I feel that only myself and the surgeon could make the decision to move forward. (regardless of being self pay, there was never any pressure from the clinic to move forward, everything was at my pace.) I did tell my PCP as she has a right to know and she was supportive. If she wasn't for valid reasons, I certainly would have had to have had a rethink. I can't answer your questions, but I would think that you might have to ask your insurance company what they require.

    Hungry

Is it possible for you to go to a soup kitchen to get one good meal in. It is not good for you or anyone to be so hungry. Is there a friend you can go to for assistance or a hot meal? Good luck to you.

    Numb...

I had knee surgery about 15yrs ago and my whole area by my incision is still numb to the touch, I could feel a pin prick, but to touch the skin, numb. I am sure it is all about the healing process and you should be fine. If you are freaked out, give your surgeon a call.

    Pre-Op Diet Day One

I am soooo jealous, I start Sunday and it is 4 shakes a day, 1 serving of veggies, 1 serving of fruit, I can have sf popsicles and as a treat sf Jello.............14 days, that's it.........guess making lunches won't be hard. Have a great day 2.
  23. If I could sleep my way thru the 2 week pre op I would..........I am in total denial that I will be on liquids for 2 weeks, I guess reality will hit on Sunday with that first shake.
  24. I have no advice as mine is on Sept 17th. I am currently in denial that I really have to do Optifast for 2 weeks, guess i will be hitting reality hard on Sunday when I mix up that first shake. I am starting to get nervous, but it will be so worth it. Good luck with your surgery.
