What about optifast.............you have to buy it (most likely from surgeon). I couldn't do Carnation.........too thick and creamy - yuck.
-
Did you try lots of ice, lots, blended. The straws really helped me get past the smell.
-
Lots of ice, decaf coffee helps and use a straw............Walden Farms also has calorie free, sugar free, carb free etc, syrups, I did a tsp of chocolate in the vanilla w the coffee. I didn't think I would make it past day 2, and funny enough, I recently got 2 boxes of the stuff, for my post op Protein drink.......... Good luck

For someone who is on full liquids, that sure sounds like a great dinner!!!! I wish I could just lick your steak.
-
I forgot about zumba...............I am wayyyy to uncoordinated for that, have tried and it is not pretty, but you should give it a try Dino3
-
Bike at the gym is good, but you have to make sure you really push yourself.....it is easy to sit and spin and read a magazine......see if you can find a beginner class. They are great.
-
Step class..................I hate step but it would be good. spinning.

I was banded on the 17th and lost 19lbs pre diet and 1week post op. I am 2 weeks out today and have not lost anything else. I am still on liquids, no eggs, oatmeal or meat/fish for me yet. I believe our bodies are somewhat starving and as we are not feeding it adequetly they are in stavation mode and therefore our metabolism has slowed right down and is not burning any of our fat stores. Once we start eating well again and exercising (and get some band restriction) we should be fine. Don't worry, you are in healing mode now, you are only 3 weeks out. Are you exercising, that should boost things a bit.

Portion Size Question For The Vets
wildrose1966 replied to wildrose1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I talked to my clinic and they said not to worry, liquids are going right thru and as the swelling goes down we get more hungry. Just be careful not to drink too fast.......... Next stage when I get to some more solids (if that is what you want to call pureed and blenderized) I will have to go back to measuring and probably more frequent meals and Snacks. But for now, liquids only, I am good. -
Am I Crazy To Get Banded?? Only 25-30 Lbs To Lose.
wildrose1966 replied to janleefran's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
$16,000 for 25lbs seems like alot, I am surprised he would even do surgery on a low bmi. I don't know you or everything you have tried, but to me I would dream of 175lbs. Seems like a money grab to me. -
Tomorrow Morning!
wildrose1966 replied to futuresize8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happens so fast........I walked into the OR, got up on the table an then they started fiddling around with monitors, iv's etc. I was totally expecting them to say 'you will get sleepy' or 'count to 10' but phoof, no warning at all and I was out........when I woke up in recovery the only thing I wanted was for the nurse to hold my hand, I never asked her but I had a head battle about it for about 20 min. It all happened so fast. good luck. -
I was banded on the 17th, and am looking forward to Wed.........pureed and blenderized...............no oatmeal, but cream of wheat, refried beans, potatoes, blenderized meats.............yummo. I am not starving but it will have been over a month on liquids by the time Wed hits.

Don't overthink it, I probably wasted about $100 on stuff I couldn't eat/drink. I bought 3 boxes of gasx - I have 2 left over, I bought 8 clear ensure Protein drinks, threw them all out they were terrible. Bought a package of 4 carnation instant bfast - again good protein, couldn't stomach it, threw them out. Gatorade revive high Protein Drink, threw it out. 2 tubs of Protein powder - gave them away, bought a 6 pack of high protein chocolate pudding from GNC, thank god I could return that. I really needed to dumb everything down and go back to basics............1c of milk is as good as an ensure drink and same protein.........drink milk. I added blenderized cottage cheese to soup..........no difference in taste, boost protein...........etc etc. A box of broth and package of Jello and some freezies will probably pull you through your first 3 days.
-
Congratulations. I would suggest must haves....gasx, heating pad, stool softener. If you can find protein powder/drinks that you like before hand that is great too. Everything else is easy, broth, soup, yogurt, pudding, drinks.............you will not be eating alot the first 3-4 days, just alot of sipping.

Day 2 Post Op Is This Normal ?
wildrose1966 replied to newme37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are concerned and they are chest pains, I would contact your dr to be safe. If you can pass the gas (burp) it might give you some relief. -

5 Days Post Op...
wildrose1966 replied to Carissa26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the same the week after surgery. I called my clinic and they said not to worry about it right now. Just stay hydrated and eat what you can and walk. -
I didn't have bandages. At my 1 week post op appt the nurse told me to get the steri strips off, as they can get grungy and smelly. I took a hot shower and ripped them off....didn't pull anything (I am not even sure I had stitches or if the incisions were glued together) Once I took off the steri's I did not cover them at all. I wouldn't pull off your steri strips yet, but start working them off about mid week. I never used bandages.

Self Pay And Credit Card Question...
wildrose1966 replied to pushagrrl's topic in Insurance & Financing
I had the cash in hand, but put it on the CC to get the airmiles, and then just plopped down the cash before interest was charged. -
Any Good Suggestions?
wildrose1966 replied to futuresize8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just made soup yesterday and added cottage cheese to it (then blenderized) for added protein. Yogurt, soup, pudding.........that is about it. I upped my milk consumption, low fat/sugar popsicles, fudgecicles............I do 1 optifast per day just to get some calories and protein in me. Campbells gardenney has some good soups.......some need to be thrown in the blender just to smooth them up a bit (veggie.) -
So my next food stage is pureed and blenderized.......it says I can have cooked blended meats. (I do not eat fish or seafood). Ground beef, chicken, turkey are not introduced until the stage after this one. So I am guessing this is like a smooth chicken salad. (I was so excited to move to the next stage - not so much any more) The next stage also incudes blenderized Wendy's chili, hummus, refried Beans - low fat, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes etc............. Guess I can look forward to the Soft/Moist Stage...........it has been a month of liquids, what is another 7 days.

Holy Variety Of Protein Shakes!!
wildrose1966 replied to kittylove32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nice thing about GNC is they have a 30 day return policy if you don't like it.............I bought the high protein chocolate pudding, opened 1 can, returned the other 5 in the package, full refund..........on all their products. -
This Is What I Have So Far For Pre And Post Op. Is It Good?
wildrose1966 replied to kittylove32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yogurt and some low fat cream Soups (if you can eat that). I was way over prepared and thought it too much, I ended up getting all sorts of high Protein drinks (carnation bfast, clear ensure and recovery gatorade), powders etc and couldn't stomach any of them..........big waste of money. Make sure you like the Protein before buying the grocery store out. I ended up going back to my pre op shakes. Good luck to you. -
First batch of the fall and I added a cup of cottage cheese to it, just to up the protein. Did recipe builder on myfitnesspal and 1.5 c. has 7g...........better than broth as I am STILL on full liquids. Invited a friend for dinner and she is getting soup too.

Love Fall - Butternut Squash Soup
wildrose1966 replied to wildrose1966's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a friend over for dinner aka Soup tonight.....she had seconds and I sent her home with enough for 3 meals, so the nonlapbander loved it and we couldn't even taste the cottage cheese
